PREVIEW: In ages past the Free Peoples of the Wilderlands acted as wardens, keeping a watchful vigil over the frozen wastes to the far north, though much has changed since those days. If this time of peace after the fall of Smaug is to last, many strategic locations must be reclaimed. King Bard himself has requested the retrieval of an ancient key that is rumoured to have been lost in the Long Marshes to the south. Where there is a key, there is usually a keyhole... Hello! My name is Oliver, and I'm looking for 3-4 Players to join me in a Lord of the Rings D&D game. The rules are based on 5e, but expanded and modified for the setting. I have been DMing for friends and family for over 7 years, and using Roll20 for about 3, and am keen to try running a game with new people! DISCLAIMER: Due to the nature of the LOTR setting, certain aspects of the game are changed, and supplementary sources will be used for things like classes and race options. I understand that not everyone will enjoy this style of play, so I have listed the major changes below. Low Magic Setting - The portrayal of magic in LOTR is far more subtle than in other, more recent fantasy settings. If slinging fireballs and performing superhuman feats on the daily is your speed, this game isn't for you. However, if you find the mythical binding power of oaths, ancient artifacts imbued with forgotten spells, or the strange tendency for hobbits to seemingly disappear pique your interest, this game is for you. Long Journeys - Many of Tolkien's stories placed emphasis on the long trek to the destination rather than the destination itself. This game will replicate this aspect of his work. That's not to say it will be boring, for much danger and adventure can still be found on the road... Supplementary Works - To assist in making the setting feel right, we will be using the Adventures in Middle Earth supplements by Cubicle 7 Interested participants can reply to this post here, or message me on Discord (CueBallJamal #5271)
