But the eyes remain open and the door closed!   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: check to see if it is unlocked   Dungeon Master (GM): you touch the door but it does not lower into the floor   Balen: Balen taps the door   Dungeon Master (GM): if you remember the eyes close for each time the doors opened so looks like you need to do something else now but i will say you got two things right now it might be something sort of along the lines of what balen was doing before not counting the ruby stuff   Balen: The sequence we show the head the items?   Dungeon Master (GM): perhaps it is just an item that is involved now you caused two things to happen, that was a sequence perhaps there is one or more things left to do   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: ring bell   Balen: ok rang the bell opened eyes poured water into chalice it vanished that leaves the gold bust   Dungeon Master (GM): ok that does not cause the eyes to close ok so what do you do with the gold bust?   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: pick it up   Dungeon Master (GM): ok then what?   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: ring the bell   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing happens   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: damn lol   Dungeon Master (GM): do you show it to the head?   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: yes   Balen: pour water onto the bust   Dungeon Master (GM): ok showing the gold bust to the head causes it's eyes to close and the door opens now!!   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: sweet   Balen: ok maybe finish this tonight   Dungeon Master (GM): is the party going to go through the opened door now?   Balen: Shiela will cast Find traps   Dungeon Master (GM): alright go north or south... no trap yet   Balen: Lets try North Whats there? a Chair?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes looks like you see a chair set before the glow of the trap with another chair just beyond it let me check the area description here ok, i'll say you just see the chairs there and nothing more [I think they were meant for another spot but in the process of making the map i had forgotten to move them to the proper place] that said you can still go south   Balen: We go South then   Dungeon Master (GM): looks like you come to another Octagonal room location   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Whats the trap here?" Check the door   Dungeon Master (GM): up ahead you see a door and also 2 locations of traps just north of you are you touching the door? or checking around it for traps?   Balen: After Sheila says its safe   Dungeon Master (GM): well you need to open it to see   Balen: ok touch the door   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it lowers to the floor and Sheila does not see a glow from her spell in the doorway now This octagonal room is empty except for a golden serving platter lying on the floor in the center of the room. Three golden apples rest upon it. The platter is 1 foot wide and 2 feet long, crafted withgolden handles on each end. The apples are 3 inches, 4 inches, and 5 inches in diameter.   Balen: Go inside   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Its a trap!1 I say leave it" Any other passage ways?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Balen: Keep going   Dungeon Master (GM): a trap up there! you see another trap so you take the passage besides it instead   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: use the door   Dungeon Master (GM): you arrive at a new door ok the door lowers however Sheila's spell reveals that the doorway is trapped!
Phicenta the Champion Warlock, cast the DISPEL MAGIC Spell upon doorway trap! Level 3 Magic-User * Abjuration Components V,S Casting Time 3  Segments Range 120 ft Duration Permanent Area of Effect 30 ft cube Saving Throw None Effects:  When a magic-user casts this spell, it has a chance to neutralize or negate the magic it comes in contact with as follows: A dispel magic will not affect a specially enchanted item such as a scroll, magic ring, wand, rod, staff, miscellaneous magic item, magic weapon, magic shield, or magic armor. It will destroy magic potions (they are treated as 12th level for purposes of this spell), It removes spells and spell-like effects (including device effects and innate abilities), cast upon persons or objects. It disrupts by countering the casting of spells in the area of effect at the instant the dispel is cast. Each effect or potion in the spell’s area is checked to determine if it is dispelled. The caster can always dispel his own magic; otherwise, the chance to dispel depends on the difference in level between the magical effect and the caster. The base chance for success of a dispel magic spell is 50%. For every level of experience of the character casting the dispel magic above that of the creature whose magic is to be dispelled (or above the efficiency level of the object from which the magic is issuing), the base chance increases by 5%, so that if there are 10 levels of difference, there is a 100% chance. For every level below the experience/efficiency level of the creature/object, the base chance is reduced by 2%. Note that this spell can be very effective when used upon charmed and similarly beguiled creatures. It is automatic in negating the spell caster’s own magic. See Spell Description for more information regarding effects when cast upon certain magical objects. dispel magic on the traps   Dungeon Master (GM): it has no effect so either the traps are not magical in nature or the maker of the trap was beyond your level or both   Balen: Ok New doors   Dungeon Master (GM): yea open it?   Balen: Yes   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it glows from the Find Trap spell!   Balen: Keep going down the passage Checking these doors   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i'm a bit confused here myself, give me a moment ok you are at that door opening it reveals no trap so you can enter the new holographic head room   Balen: check the other doors   Dungeon Master (GM): This rectangular room once again holds the six-foot-tall image of the human head with the hooked nose. Again, it is in the   Dungeon Master (GM): center of the room. This time the head faces the north door of the west wall. with it's eyes currently open.   Balen: Thinking about it, we probably need the golden apples to get passed this one   Dungeon Master (GM): Dungeon Master (GM): On that note you may want to check which door will not open before the find trap spell winks out then you can check if the apples are magical.   Chris M.: done   Balen: check the doors then show the tray apples to the head   Dungeon Master (GM): i just pinged the door that will not open and the rest other than the one you entered from are all trapped. The head's eyes are currently open.   Balen: yeah are they magical?   Dungeon Master (GM): someone is able to cast the spell right now without resting?   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: i say we rest then cast the spell   Balen: Sheila can   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, if she can and yes the platter itself glows with a magical aura as well as do the apples.   Balen: bring the tray also   Dungeon Master (GM): the magic appears to be enchantments with the two smaller apples also showing signs of evocations. ok you take the platter and apples with you back to the new Holographic Head room!   Balen: ok so 2 blasty apples and a sleep apple hehe   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: lol how about those apples jk   Dungeon Master (GM): oh geez! ha ha!   Balen: hold up the tray with the apples to the head   Chris M.: back   Dungeon Master (GM): WB Chris!   Chris M.: O. They gone? i had to get meds my wife is diabetic :(   Balen: got a bit farther found a magic tray w/ 3 magic gold apples and another big head   Dungeon Master (GM): Chris you guys are in a new Holographic Head room, so thus a new puzzle to be solved.   Chris M.: they are doing amazing great   Balen: show the head the tray and apples any reaction?   Dungeon Master (GM): checking   Balen: hopefully not another death save   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i am a bit confused as several things are mentioned   Chris M.: Clear the room, gang   Dungeon Master (GM): so let me sort it out here hmm, ok it mentions two conflicting things here it deals with the apples that were just shown now of course it lists a sequence but it also says this, which appears to counteract the sequence:
Dungeon Master (GM): Whatever else occurs, if all three apples are shown to the head, the procedure is completed. so thus i guess this means the eyes close anyways the apples disappear and the eyes close and the exit is freed.   Balen: cool we solved it quickly   Chris M.: wow! You dudes rock!   Dungeon Master (GM): yea but the sequence itself involved 5 steps and you would only have lost 1 apple, (only if shown at the proper part of the sequence).   Balen: oh well our loss for losing 2 of the 3   Chris M.: where did I go? ah   Dungeon Master (GM): the passages turns to a trap spot!   Chris M.: recast Find Traps   Dungeon Master (GM): i just pinged the trap   Chris M.: thanks. My mouse is going haywire. Do please move me on point   Dungeon Master (GM): ok north or south at that junction? south   Chris M.: OMG. Level 4 Cleric * Alteration (Reversible) Components V,S Casting Time 7  segments Range Touch Duration Permanent Area of Effect Creature Touched or 1 cubic foot of substance / 2 levels:  3.5  cubic ft Saving Throw None Effects:  The cleric detoxifies any sort of venom in the creature or substance touched. Note that an opponent, such as a poisonous reptile or snake (or even an envenomed weapon of an opponent) unwilling to be so touched requires the cleric to score a successful hit in melee combat. The reversed spell, poison, likewise requires an attack (a “to hit” touch which succeeds), and the victim is allowed a saving throw versus poison. If the latter is unsuccessful, the victim is incapacitated and dies in one turn unless the poison is magically neutralized or slowed.   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul: tbats cool too   Dungeon Master (GM): I got confused, still trying to figure where you should be   Sheila, praying to Ra, and laying a hand upon the injured Balen, casts a CURE LIGHT WOUNDS Spell!
