Default token not connecting to character sheet

September 17 (4 years ago)

This was working for me, but now it's not.  I create the character in the journal, place the token I want to represent it on the map and select it, open "Edit" and make the selected token the default token, and save changes.  When click and drag the character from the journal onto the map, the token should appear with the sheet (and all it's stats and macros) attached.  BUT IT DOESN'T!  It just places the token and I have to manually attach it to the character in the journal by clicking the gear and selecting the appropriate character in the "represents character" drop down menu.

I know I can make the character sheet permanently attached to the token because I've done it before.  I honestly don't know what I am doing different.

Can anyone help?

You should set the tokens settings as they should be before you make it the default token, it saves the token as it is in the moment you make it the default token.

If you make changes to the token that is on the map after you have made it the default, you'd need to open the character sheet, remove the old default sheet, and save the new version.

Okay, I think I finally got it.  I have to BOTH set the token as "represents character" and set it as the default token for that character, and in that order.

Alternatively, if you make the token image the image in the journal for that sheet first thing, when you then drag it out to the map it will automatically be assigned the correct "represents character" information.
Then you make whatever other changes you want on it (like setting values) and then save it as the default token.
