In Waterdeep, the adventurers report to the Harpers, recounting their success with the castle and giants. Many of the lords have returned to their own lands for now. The Council will reconvene soon, but in the meantime there is another urgent matter. A druid from the Emerald Enclave asks the party to help track down a green dragon who has been raiding the elven settlements in the Misty Forest. He directs them to the elven village of Altand, where a raid recently took place. Strangely, this raid did not completely demolish the village, as had happened to so many others. The adventurers question the villagers, including the leader Galin, but are able to learn only that the dragon and his cultists followers halted their attack after a short time and retreated, with no clue as to why. However, they do detect that Galin is holding something back... Knowing that Galin has a secret, the party decides to watch him closely. As night falls, their patience is rewarded as they see Galin and his pet raven leaving the village to head deep into the woods. Malkior sends his familiar to follow, and sees Galin go to a clearing a mile into the woods. He waits for an hour, but nothing happens, and he returns to the village. The next day, with help from a local druid, the adventurers go out to the clearing and investigate. The local plant life speaks to the druid and informs them that on previous nights, Galin had been meeting with the dragon! The next night, Galin goes into the woods again. The adventurers decide to confront him, stepping from their hiding places and demanding to know what he has been doing. At first he is recalcitrant, so the wizard uses a suggestion spell to lead him to unburden his soul. Galin reveals that he has indeed been collaborating with the dragon. He made a deal to save what was left of his village - information about other targets in return for their own safety. He promises to inform the elven king, and returns to the village to begin to atone for his misdeeds. Galin knows nothing of the lair itself, but he can point the party to the southeast, where the dragon would fly away after their meetings. With this direction, the adventurers set off through the forest. After some time, they come across a strange scene - an old elven woman lying on the ground, under a fallen tree, calling for help. Ulrik immediately moves to help, and the others follow. But it seems she may not have needed help after all, as the trees stand up and move away! The woman is a druid of this forest, and she blesses them for this act of kindness, granting everyone a flower wreath that hides their passage from the dragon's animal spies. Further into the woods, webs begin to appear between the trees. These quickly thicken until there is no choice but to cut or burn them, but Malkior uses his broom to fly above and transport his companions past the danger. Their destination comes into view - a cave behind a waterfall. Green mist seeps out, marking this as the lair of a green dragon. They approach carefully and slip behind the waterfall, moving carefully to avoid falling on the slippery surface. A group of guard confronts them inside - elves who demand to know their names and affiliation. No one knows quite what to say, and the guards were growing suspicious, but once again the wizard's magic comes to the rescue to charm the leader of the guards. After this he is easily convinced that they are new recruits, and he sends them deeper into the cave. Ulrik notices a hidden passageway as they proceed, and Malkior once again deploys his familiar to scout. It finds the lair of three ettins as well as connecting passages to other areas. Leaving the ettins alone, the adventurers find a large cavern with a deep pool, and several tunnels leading deeper into the cave. To the south is another group of elves, waiting to welcome the new recruits.
