Ch. 39: The Adventurers Travel to Tibor Wester's Logging Camp in the Neverwinter Woods

Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Folks!   Galdor Brawnanvil: Hi!   Klona: helloooo   Roqar: Hi   Galdor Brawnanvil: Am personally tired af, been awake for more than 24 hours just so I could make it this session :o   Dungeon Master (GM): So we are heading up to the logger's camp job today, correct?   Roqar: Yes   Klona: you can do it galdor! just a few more hours yes   Dolores: we have to take a supplies to the logging camp right?   Galdor Brawnanvil: Another visual bug? Or is it still supposed to be completely black   Roqar: We are in town still   Dungeon Master (GM): yes we are still in Phandalin “Deep in Neverwinter Wood, along the river that flows west toward Neverwinter, is a logging camp. Every two months, Phandalin delivers fresh supplies to the camp, which is run by the half-brother of Phandalin’s townmaster, Harbin Wester. Barthen, the local provisioner, has prepared a new delivery. He needs someone to bear the supplies safely to the camp. Return to Harbin Wester with a notice of delivery signed by his half-brother, Tibor Wester, to claim your reward of 100 gp.”   Dolores: galdor zoom out   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so it's early morning around 6 am, Barthen, is north of the Stonehill inn the map should not be black at all   Galdor Brawnanvil: It's not anymore it was just completely black till a few minutes ago   Roqar: After stopping by the shrine for the day I'm ready to go   Dungeon Master (GM): yea, it was loading in when it was black   Buddy D.: it just le tme in   Galdor Brawnanvil: wait what does the shrine even do   Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Buddy!   Buddy D.: hola amigos   Galdor Brawnanvil: Ahoy   Buddy D.: how ar eyall   Roqar: Shrine of Tymora Goddess of Luck My Goddess   Buddy D.: sweet   Galdor Brawnanvil: Roqar What does the shrine do   Roqar: Nothing really just that I worship Tymora and its dedicated to her   Dungeon Master (GM): Sister Garaele who lives next to the shrine is a cleric of Tymora. She's the one you go to when you need a healing in town. ok, so let me move you to Barthen's Provisions. anyone going inside the provision's shop to talk to Elmar Barthen?   Roqar: sure   Elmar Barthen the Provisions Shop Owner Says: "Good Morning How can I help you?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Morning We're here to take the supplies to the Logger's Camp"   Elmar Barthen: Says, “ Ah, yes, good, good. The supplies are loaded and ready for delivery!" Barthen tells you that his clerks have filled two crates with supplies as he hands you a sheet of parchment, upon which is written an inventory of the crates’ contents: foodstuffs such as dried meat, blocks of cheese, and loaves of bread, as well as casks of ale and flasks of oil. The two heavy crates are loaded onto a two-wheeled cart pulled by an ox. “The ox’s name is Vincent,” says Barthen. “I’ll expect to see him and the cart returned, thanks.”   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Of course, we'll take good care of Vincent"   Elmar Barthen the Provisions Shop Owner Says: "Do be wary of Many Arrow tribe orcs and cragmaw tribe goblins roaming the Neverwinter woods!" Says: "Alrighty then, She's yours whenever you decide to leave. The trip should take about two days, it's about 53 miles north from here."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Thinking "I'll bring you his horns after he gets killed on the way back   Elmar Barthen the Provisions Shop Owner Says: "Say what now?!" oh oh ok you were 'thinking' ha ha!   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Alright Come on Vincent, lets go for a walk"   Dungeon Master (GM): Ander Bressan opens the door to let the ox and cart out and you are now on your way   Willie Belson: cool giddy up move it ox   Dungeon Master (GM): who would like to plot the course taken to the logger's camp?   Willie Belson: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): Since Sildar is with you you won't likely get lost   Willie Belson: sweet   Dolores: is there space on the cart to sit on   Dungeon Master (GM): each hex is 5 miles you will likely camp about half way there probably for two people, the rest have to walk along side   KreizacsRolwiert: is Farren Bahrrenn's character?   Willie Belson: ill walk   Dungeon Master (GM): don't want to weigh the cart down too much, as it's only one ox!
Willie Belson: Dolores if you want to ride the cart my lady it would be my pleasure to give up my seat   Dungeon Master (GM): yes Farren is his   KreizacsRolwiert: just that Farren is lvl 1 instead of lvl 4   Dungeon Master (GM): yea, that's where he wanted to start, which is normal but on roll20 it basically needs to have everyone the same level   KreizacsRolwiert: Oh... Okay. Just that it'll be kinda dangerous. To say the least   Roqar: Take the Triboar Trail turn left after the manor before Agatha stop by Hunter's Lodge on the way   Dungeon Master (GM): ah, and I didn't notice!   KreizacsRolwiert: Oh and going along the river is the optimal route since you'll be mostly outside of the highly magical/dangerous forest   Roqar: But thats more then 2 days travel   KreizacsRolwiert: The forest tiles themselves should be more dangerous to the cart and ox itself Due to the fact, that there are trees blocking the way Random bushes and branches Etc. It's also harder for anyone to ambush us   Dungeon Master (GM): up to you to either go up through the grasslands and only need 15 miles into the woods or enter the woods roughly halfway between Havenfall manor and Agatha's lair and head straight up to the Hunting lodge first before bearing north west to the logging camp   Roqar: But.. But We're Adventurers We are SUPPOSED to be Ambushed on the way   Dungeon Master (GM): ha ha ha!   KreizacsRolwiert: I am sorry, but I do not feel any need to endanger the Ox Just because we are what you call... "Adventurers"   Dungeon Master (GM): 80 mile trip if you hug the grasslands around the edge of the forest and along the river there   Roqar: So about a weeks travel compared to a couple days   KreizacsRolwiert: It's still better to be safe, especially since there is no time limit   Dolores: I think we should play it safe   KreizacsRolwiert: is Farren already in our party?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes, he would have met you at the stonehill inn.   Roqar: Sigh  Playing it safe is less fun, but Alright   Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Bahrren!   Willie Belson: I agree with roqar   KreizacsRolwiert: Hii Bahrrenn   Dolores: the route i think we should take is 16 hexes what route do you suggest   KreizacsRolwiert: The safest route would be to go along the High Road and then the River Instead of hugging the forest   Dolores: maybe that's too safe   Roqar: My suggestion was Triboar Trail Left after the manor before Agatha stop at Hunters Lodge on the way   KreizacsRolwiert: What do you mean by too safe Nothing can be too safe When you are risking not only your life   Dungeon Master (GM): If i remember right speed through grasslands was 2 hours for 5 miles but with the ox it's slower   KreizacsRolwiert: But the life of others, animals included   Dolores: so what's the fastest route with the ox   Willie Belson: I agree with Dolores   Roqar: My suggestion is 2 or 3 days other is about a week   KreizacsRolwiert: Roqar   Willie Belson: me too   Dungeon Master (GM): that's what i was looking for as i mentioned the speeds before, I thought i posted them in a weekly summary   KreizacsRolwiert: Your suggestion Goes through the forest Which is going to take much longer when compared to a grassy field   Willie Belson: the longer your out there th emore rolls the dm gets to kill us   Roqar: There is a trail to follow   KreizacsRolwiert: btw Bahrrenn, could you say anythin'?   Willie Belson: can we make a ocmprimise take the medium route   Bahrrenn Drakke: Hello everyone   KreizacsRolwiert: Hello   Dungeon Master (GM): ah found them so 1.4 hours through grasslands If you didn't have the ox so say 2 hours   Bahrrenn Drakke: Sorry, lagging for a bit in Roll20   Roqar: Welcome   Dolores: welcome   Willie Belson: whats up amigo   KreizacsRolwiert: Let's just hug the forest Going directly through the forest takes much longer and is waaay more dangerous   Willie Belson: sounds good lets just get this dog and ox show on the road   Dungeon Master (GM): say 6 hours per hex in the forest with the ox otherwise just 5   KreizacsRolwiert: Yup Wait
How would you go about the river + opened up forest hex   Dungeon Master (GM): yea you would go up to the river and follow it to the logging camp   KreizacsRolwiert: but how much time would it take seeing as it's not a completely-forest hex   Dungeon Master (GM): yes the riversides look clear   Roqar: So grasslands   KreizacsRolwiert: Most prolly Grasslands if near the river, otherwise Forest Shall we go now ? Through the forest-hugging route?   Dolores: forest hugging seems like the best option i think Roqar: Alright lets go the long way more encounters more chances for Vincent to become an Orcs T Bone hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): ok grasslands travel it is so let's say you travel 12 hours in between camps then So I will place an X at each Camping point then   KreizacsRolwiert: Roqar, as explained before Going through the forest is actually the long way Due to it taking 4x as longer to travel through *as long   Dolores: dolores is explicitly against going through the forest with an ox slowing us down   Roqar: Ok I just wanted to go by the Lodge Have Hunter for another night  Sigh   Dolores: what do you have at the hunting lodge LOL   Roqar: Hunter   Dungeon Master (GM): last leg of the trip will take 7 hours saying by the river ok, i will now roll for random wandering encounters on the first leg of the trip (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   KreizacsRolwiert: -you see a bunny rabbit   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 6 ) = 6   KreizacsRolwiert: -it's the bunny rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail   Roqar: We can stop by Thundertree, see if the Cult is still there   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so you reach the first campsite without incident, around 3 am,  is there anything you wish to do while there?   KreizacsRolwiert: -roll for initiative if you have a holy hand grenade, prepare another character sheet if not Hmm How much do Javelins cost?   Dungeon Master (GM): I will need to look that up   Roqar: Mopes for the trip missing Falcon   Willie Belson: sorry roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): 5 silvers for a javelin   KreizacsRolwiert: How many silvers in a gold coin? 10?   Roqar: Do we stop in Thundertree? see if the Cult and or Dragon is still there?   Dungeon Master (GM): the watch order staying the same?   Dungeon Master (GM): you can of course stop there since it is along the way   KreizacsRolwiert: Oh... Well then... I'll be makin' 5 javelins Or how do you actually want to do it, DM?   Dungeon Master (GM): Monetary Conversion: 10 Copper Pieces = 1 Silver Piece 20 Silver Pieces = 1 Gold Piece 2 Electrum Pieces = 1 Gold Piece 1 Platinum Piece = 5 Gold Pieces   Dungeon Master (GM): Thus 200 c.p. = 20 s.p. = 2 e.p. = 1 g.p. = 1/5 p.p.   KreizacsRolwiert: Seeing as I'm profficient with Smith's Tools, my Domain is literally the Forge Domain aaand my backstory + background revolve around me being a smith in weapons and armor How do you want me to go about making the javelins? Since just making the javelins by the cost is the normal way, for any character pretty much   Dungeon Master (GM): well will they be made of wood or iron?   KreizacsRolwiert: Javelins just and only need the tip to be made Which can be even the crudest of stones   Dungeon Master (GM): with iron ok or stone alright   KreizacsRolwiert: (altho I wouldn't be able to use stones, 'cause I didn't take masonry)   Dungeon Master (GM): or stone carving   KreizacsRolwiert: *stoneworkin/stonecarving, yeah masonry is somethin' different   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 3 ) = 3   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 1 ) = 1   KreizacsRolwiert: so yeah, Iron   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): During 3rd watch we have an encounter spotted by Xar'Tharkas, who immediately wakes up the party. (To GM)rolling d8( 3 ) = 3
Dungeon Master (GM): ok, looks like hobgoblins have spotted your camp and have decided to pester you   Dolores: how many   Willie Belson: dayum   KreizacsRolwiert: as Xar noticed them before they attacked, I can just assume all of us are aware of them, right?   Dungeon Master (GM): Yes, you are awakened and warned of the threat. Xar does spot one moving in the tree line to your east what do you do?   Roqar: Rolling for INIT?   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor proceeds to shout: "Oi, Can ye leave us alone?!"   Galdor , the Dwarf Cleric, gets ready to make an attack move! Farren Nidanas: 21 PERCEPTION  (6) Farren Nidanas   Galdor Brawnanvil: and the macro slaps both modifiers onto the weapons making high dex+str characters kinda strong   Farren Nidanas: misclicked the initiative sorry   Dolores joins the others searching the bodies   Farren Nidanas: what do I find?   Roqar: Loot the bodies go up a level HAHA   Dungeon Master (GM): can you see the warhammer macro handout? that's how it was presented to me   Dolores: it looks messed up   Farren Nidanas: I see it   Dolores: for me at least   Galdor Brawnanvil: yeah, I see it and the dex modifier doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense it should either be only strength ooor it should give the option of choice between strength and dexterity   Farren Nidanas: yeah, like in my case   Galdor Brawnanvil: slapping both modifiers on it is extremely unwise   Dungeon Master (GM): ok and you get  12  gold,  10  silver,  25  copper and  10  electrum pieces per hobgoblin. The party divides it evenly between them: 8 gp, 7 sp, 18 cp, 7 ep each.   Galdor Brawnanvil: yeah   Galdor Brawnanvil: that would pretty much make you able to have double dex modifiers which would be too much tbh   (From Galdor Brawnanvil): 8 Warhammer (One-Handed)  (+4) Galdor Brawnanvil Galdor Attacks: Hobgoblin #01! 3 Bludgeoning   Galdor Brawnanvil: or just use the normal attack thingy, in the first page of the character sheet   Dolores takes the coin pouch from the hobgoblin she searched and adds it to her pouch   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dolores: well dolores just took the pouch on the hobgoblin she searched and added it to her own   Galdor Brawnanvil: Greedy Dolores   Dolores: she is   Dolores: finders keepers is her rule   Galdor Brawnanvil: wait   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so now back to the world map as i see how many wandering checks to make to the next camp   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 3 ) = 3   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 1 ) = 1   Dungeon Master (GM): ok as you near the river of which I know not it's name we have an encounter!   Galdor Brawnanvil: okay then...   Farren Nidanas: One pouch has 12gp, 10ep, 10sp, and 25 cp each. there are 4pouches left   Dungeon Master (GM): at the edge of the wood about 60 feet from you, a wild boar stands in a small clearing. The boar glares at you suspiciously.   Galdor Brawnanvil: Willie, Roqar, Farren and Me should take them, seeing as Xar and Yuuki ain't talking   Farren Nidanas takes one of the pouches   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Roqar: Sounds good   Farren Nidanas: Agreed   Galdor Brawnanvil: how do I emote without selecting my token?   Farren Nidanas: type /em and space   Dungeon Master (GM): that or use the emote macro when you click a token   Farren Nidanas: but our tokens aren't in the board right now hahaha   Dungeon Master (GM): oops   Galdor Brawnanvil proceeds to take his warhammer and starts bashing into his shield to create a ringing noise in order to scare off the boar   Galdor Brawnanvil: oh Farren Nidanas shrugs   Roqar Roqar is impressed with the younger Elf   Galdor Brawnanvil: should I roll intimidation? or Animal Handling?
(From Galdor Brawnanvil): 8 ANIMAL HANDLING  (5) Galdor Brawnanvil   Willie Belson: I can speak with animals   Galdor Brawnanvil: I already bashed on the shield   Dungeon Master (GM): for the animal handling you could try that yes, but the banging on the shield and noise, would scare off this beast anyways, which it does.   Farren Nidanas: Can someone ping where we are currently?   Farren Nidanas: So by the shoreline nvm, by the river   Dolores: yuuki can roll animal handling   Farren Nidanas: just above thundertree   Galdor Brawnanvil: those tokens are there so that we can easily select them   Farren Nidanas: I can roll for survival to hunt the boar hahaha   Farren Nidanas: Question: is this milestone based or exp based?   Galdor Brawnanvil: was a 3 with my 5 modifier   Roqar: Put Ham and Bacon on the menu   Galdor Brawnanvil: EXP   Farren Nidanas: what exp did we earn from the hobgoblins?   Galdor Brawnanvil: Farren, it's not a lot   Farren Nidanas: Either trying to catch them, scare them off, or befriend them. Take your pick.   Galdor Brawnanvil: + it's usually common to level-up at the end of sessions at most seeing as it takes time   Farren Nidanas: Noted Galdor   Dungeon Master (GM): well, you got 600 XP for the Hobgoblins so far and there have not been any goals accomplished this session so far so no milestone type of xp yet   Dolores: oo we're at thundertree what's here   Roqar: There is/ was a Green Dragon and Cult of the Dragon   Galdor Brawnanvil: That's what my intention is I want it to back away And go away Completely   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so now that the adventures are here by the river do you go to thundertree first or head on to the logger's camp?   Roqar: Do we want to stop at Thundertree? See about the Green Dragon and Cult?   Galdor Brawnanvil: What exactly do we actually know about the Thundertree?   Dungeon Master (GM): and talk to the druid Reidoth to see if he knows where the Cragmaws goblins could be   Dolores: what's this about the green dragon cult did i miss anything at the start   Dungeon Master (GM): The adventurers had been to Thundertree before and for the current line-up that would be Roqar and Willie that have been there. Do either of you remember anything about Thundertree that you could tell the others in the group?   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "Do tell."   Galdor Brawnanvil: I mean all of us could make a history check to see if we've ever been there personally or at least recall something about it   Farren Nidanas: History or Insight?   Galdor Brawnanvil: History   Roqar: There was a young Green Dragon staying in the tower and we met members of The Cult of the Dragon In Character we have no idea about them OOC They are BADDD!!!   Dungeon Master (GM): let's see what roqar and willie tell you first   Galdor Brawnanvil: Insight is to see if someone's lying in a conversation   Farren Nidanas: Noted   Dungeon Master (GM): also they had to deal with twig blights and zombies while in Thundertree of which the druid Reidoth is glad they were eliminated. And they found an old wooden heirloom box with a necklace that they recovered from an old apothecary shop If we go to Thundertree, we will all need to hop over to the Lost Mines module for that map   Galdor Brawnanvil: eeeeeh let's not go there then :p   Roqar: Maybe next week?   Dolores: what happened to the green dragon   Roqar: We sold that necklace for I believe a nice chunk of change   Farren Nidanas shows eagerness to go there.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so well, you are close to Thundertree now and would not have to backtrack then go to the hunting lodge or wherever you go after that   Roqar: Roqar believes Green Dragon has been flying around   Willie Belson: probably   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "Very well. So just continue to Logger's Camp?"   Galdor Brawnanvil: I mean... The two dragons shouldn't really be friends, right?   Dungeon Master (GM): you never know Galdor   Galdor Brawnanvil: Therefore we should be safest when in-between them, seeing as they might not go into each other's territory We could just continue to the logger's camp So that you know The food Does not Spoil   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so logger's camp then?   Dolores: i can still go on   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "I vote for the camp."   Dungeon Master (GM): any others for the loggers camp?
Farren Nidanas: Can still go.   Galdor Brawnanvil: Camp it is   Roqar shrugs "I'm fine with skipping town"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the camp then   Dolores: if the supplies spoil all of this would've been for nothing   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so no overnight encounters at the campfire and onwards you go to the loggers   Roqar: "If we would have gone the other way.." leaves it at that   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 6 ) = 6   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 3 ) = 3   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 3 ) = 3   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 2 ) = 2   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): you reach the logger's camp without incident, arriving around 2pm on May 26 th .   Farren Nidanas: Can I pick up some herbs while passing the forest? I can do a Herbalism kit check   Dungeon Master (GM): The logging camp spreads along the south shore of the river, where a dozen tents are arranged on a sandy beach. Near a dock stands a cabin with logs stacked under an awning. Older cabins close by have been torn down to leave only stone chimneys and foundations. A grim silence hangs over the camp, and you see no one around.   Galdor Brawnanvil: by the way... how do we go about me making those javelins?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "This is trouble, I can smell it"   Dungeon Master (GM): well do you have the supplies needed to make them? if so just roll a check to see if you were successful for each one you intend to make   Galdor Brawnanvil: it's just material worth in coins seeing as you can't actually get raw materials as items   Farren Nidanas: Ok I can make either a potion of healing or an antitoxin using the herb I can gather or buy.   Dungeon Master (GM): you approach from the river not there!   Farren Nidanas: 25 PERCEPTION  (6) Farren Nidanas   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I don't see anyone from here..."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Shouts  "Timber!!"   Dungeon Master (GM): that is not Tibor Wester! But I wanted to show you what WotC lazily used to represent him!   Galdor Brawnanvil: yup   Roqar: its a raft haha   Galdor Brawnanvil: they used one of the stock token arts   Dungeon Master (GM): i'm trying to get that token off the map but things are going screwy and I can't even select it Also i could not put the structure in fog sigh   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Wait... Guys... Wouldn't a logging camp be busy at this hour?" Says: "Why do we not see ANYONE at ALL here?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Its trouble, not right in the woods here"   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "Thing's don't feel right here . . ."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Shall we investigate?"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Let's look around..?"   Dolores peeks into a window   Galdor Brawnanvil: please take short movements guuuuuuys   Farren Nidanas inspects the rubble.   Galdor Brawnanvil: 'cause traps, enemies, or even the occasional trips on little rocks are a thing you zoomin' around the map in one second is taken as a careless run :P   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, when Dolores peaks into a window she sees what looks to be a desk against the door   Farren Nidanas: 16 INVESTIGATION  (1) Farren Nidanas   Dungeon Master (GM): and that a human male is crotched atop of it   Farren Nidanas: 14 ACROBATICS  (6) Farren Nidanas   Galdor Brawnanvil: Which room?   Dungeon Master (GM): the north part yes up there   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor taps on the window
Farren Nidanas: 19 INVESTIGATION  (1) Farren Nidanas   Dungeon Master (GM): the figure on the desks jerks up at the sound of the knock   Roqar: The window by Roqar can I open it?   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor taps on the window again   Farren Nidanas steps back a little.   Tibor Wester the Logger Boss Says: "Who's there!"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Can you please open up the window?" Says: "Just me and a party I'm a part of" Says: "We are here to deliver supplies to this logging camp"   Tibor Wester the Logger Boss Says: "Ah, Thank goodness. Look, you need to watch out. The camp has been attacked by Ankhegs. That is why I have my desk against the door so they can’t get in."   Roqar: (Do we know what those are?)   Dungeon Master (GM): [nope, this would mark the first time the adventurers have seen such a creature]   Dolores: could i make a check   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dolores: perhaps dolores have studied them at one point what do i roll   Galdor Brawnanvil: History, most propably   Dungeon Master (GM): a simple wisdom check would do   Galdor Brawnanvil: since it's you trying to recall something   Dolores: 18 | 12 HISTORY  (7) Dolores   Galdor Brawnanvil: so yeah, either Wisdom or History Nice! Good job   Farren Nidanas: 14 WISDOM  (4) Farren Nidanas   Willie Belson: good job dolores   Roqar: 3 | 5 WISDOM  (-1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you know that Ankhegs are burrowing creatures that love to lie in wait for prey to move within reach, when they then erupt from the ground to capture and eat you! You also know they have a spit attack   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Some kind of wild keg?"   Dolores: I let the party know that information   Dungeon Master (GM): the spit acts like acid   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "So umm... They burrow and then erupt from the ground, huh, Dolores?"   Farren Nidanas heightens his senses after hearing what Dolores knows.   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Then they shouldn't be able to go through the walls of this building at least" Says: "Maybe through the floor and ceiling, but they shouldn't be able to attack us from beneath the actual wall"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "That's what I've read Galdor. They could be under us..."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "So we should most propably stay as close to walls as possible" Says: "Instead of staying out in the open" Says: "Well... Guys... How do we proceed?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Where should we put the supplies?"   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "Right, We were tasked to deliver these."   Tibor Wester the Logger Boss Says: "Oh, I would not bring it any farther into the camp, it would trigger the Ankhegs under the ground to attack if you go near it."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We should not bring them anywhere near yet, not till we get rid of the Khegs at least"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I'd say take the proof paper and get the hell out of here."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Dolores... You seriously want to leave Tibor here? Along with any other person, that might come here?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I agree with the Wizard, this time"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Loggers usually take shifts, like any other workers" Says: "Letting these Khegs you spoke of, freely roam about around here, would endanger literally anyone"   Farren Nidanas is unsure how to proceed with this predicament.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Sighs  "Your right, we need to take care of this problem"   Dungeon Master (GM): [and how does roqar intend to do that?!]   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Because thats what Adventurers do"
Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We should be able to just bait them out, right?"   Farren Nidanas points at Roqar.   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "They erupt once someone gets close to them"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Now I feel bad about leaving him here..."   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "I understood that reference."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "I would be willing to take that position"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "But yes, I think baiting them out should do the trick."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "As the bait" anyways, I have to go now you guys should talk it over   Farren the Elf Monk Says: "I can volunteer as bait."   Unarmored Movement Farren Nidanas Class: Monk Your speed increases by 10 feet while you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield. Step Of The Wind Farren Nidanas Class: Monk You can spend 1 ki point to take the Disengage or Dash action as a bonus action on your turn, and your jump distance is doubled for the turn.   Roqar: Stomp and drop heavy stuff = Ankhkeg sign   Farren Nidanas . . . .   Dolores: well for now let's think of how to bait these creatures   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Sir could we come inside for now?"   Roqar: Like I said beat on the ground until we get "Worm sign". They are in the ground lift and drop logs   Dungeon Master (GM): ha!   Farren Nidanas: Sooo . . . against an unknown number of kegs . . . Continue with the bait plan?   Roqar: Yes If all else fails We will quickly find out how many there are   Dolores: would locate object allow me to know their general location? spell   Farren Nidanas: Are they magical creatures?   Dolores: detect magic is not the same as locate object   Dungeon Master (GM): let me look at the spell to see and no they are not magical   Dolores: oh hold on i cant use it on them as i have never seen them before so spells are out of the formula now   Farren Nidanas: But you read about them and maybe saw a picture/drawing of them   Willie Belson: i have detect magic   Dungeon Master (GM): ok yea   Dolores: i do too, but are they magical creatures?   Willie Belson: oh dang   Dolores: oh! how about see invisibility?   Dungeon Master (GM): they are not magical, at least not the common variety   Dolores: wait nevermind, i dont think i see through walls/floor with this one   Dungeon Master (GM): That would not work   Farren Nidanas: SO purely phisical senses are needed for them? physical*   Dungeon Master (GM): the creature would have to be invisible for the spell to work   Farren Nidanas: We're running out of options here.   Dolores: would they react to unseen servant?   Dungeon Master (GM): sure, if the sense it's movements near them but of course would not see it when they erupt from the ground   Dolores: i could cast it   Unseen Servant abjuration 1 Casting Time:  1 action Range:  60 feet Target:  An unoccupied space on the ground within range Components:  V, S, M (A piece of string and a bit of wood) Duration:  1 hour This spell creates an invisible, mindless, shapeless force that performs simple tasks at your command until the spell ends. The servant springs into existence in an unoccupied space on the ground within range. It has AC 10, 1 hit point, and a Strength of 2, and it can’t attack. If it drops to 0 hit points, the spell ends. Once on each of your turns as a bonus action, you can mentally command the servant to move up to 15 feet and interact with an object. The servant can perform simple tasks that a human servant could do, such as fetching things, cleaning, mending, folding clothes, lighting fires, serving food, and pouring wine. Once you give the command, the servant performs the task to the best of its ability until it completes the task, then waits for your next command. If you command the servant to perform a task that would move it more than 60 feet away from you, the spell ends. SPELL SLOT LEVEL 13 OF 4 REMAINING   Willie Belson: nice sspell   Dolores: ;) ok i cast the spell and create the servant next to me   Dungeon Master (GM): ok and the spell will last an hour   Dolores: im going to make it just run around mindlessly   Dungeon Master (GM): you can send it out 60 ft
