3:00 pm Today’s session starts when the
Adventurers decided to head for the logging camp on a supply run job. The camp
is run by the townmaster’s half-brother, Tibor Wester and the pay is 100 gp for
it’s completion on return to Phandalin. The
first thing they needed to do was head over to Barthen’s Provisions shop where
the supply wagon is awaiting for the delivery. As
the adventurers walk into the shop the are greeted by Elmar Barthen, who, when
told they were the ones to take on the logger camp supply delivery job, tells
them that his clerks, have loaded up the wagon and it is ready for delivery. Elmar
tells you that his clerks have filled two crates with supplies as he hands you
a sheet of parchment, upon which is written an inventory of the crates’
contents: foodstuffs such as dried meat, blocks of cheese, and loaves of bread,
as well as casks of ale and flasks of oil. The two heavy crates are loaded onto
a two-wheeled cart pulled by an ox. “The ox’s name is Vincent,” says Barthen.
“I’ll expect to see him and the cart returned, thanks.” Elmar
tells the group to be wary of the Many Arrows tribe of Orcs and Cragmaw tribe
of goblins roaming the Neverwinter woods and Triboar trail. He mentions the
trip would take two days if they when straight north through the woods. A 53
mile trip that way. Ander Bressan opens the doors to let Vincent the ox and the
cart out of the shop and the group is on their way. Dolores
is the one to ride the cart, guiding the ox. It is decide to take a route that
minimizes needing to travel through the Neverwinter woods buy going around it.
This makes the trip an 80 mile hike, going west then north until they reached
the river just past the volcanically ruined town of Thundertree, of which they
could go visit Reidoth the druid, to see if he knows where the Cragmaw tribe is
living in the woods. The
first leg of the trip, a 12 hour hike trough grasslands, while hugging the
boundary of the forest, was uneventful and relaxing, taking in the scenery
along the way until it got to dark to see. Setting up camp around 3 am. At around 11am, they continue onwards,
deciding to forgo visiting Thundertree for now and set up a camp just a bit north
of the ruined town around 11 pm. During
the 3 rd watch, while Xar’Tharkas was on guard, he spots a hobgoblin in
the brush, scoping out the campsite and wakes the party up. Initiative
rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins: Hobgoblin

60 gold, 50 silver, 125 copper and 50 electrum pieces, in total. The party divides it evenly between the 7 of them:
8 gp, 7 sp, 18 cp, 7 ep each. The next day, as the party nears the river bank and turns eastward
to head to the loggers camp, a lone wild boar is spotted at the edge of the
forest, in a small clearing. The boar glares at the party suspiciously. Galdor, proceeds to bash his warhammer into his shield to create a
ringing noise, in order to scare off the boar, which it does. The party reaches the camp by following the river eastward,
arriving there without incident around 2 pm on the 26 th of may. Area Description: The
logging camp spreads along the south shore of the river, where a dozen tents
are arranged on a sandy beach. Near a dock stands a cabin with logs stacked under
an awning. Older cabins close by have been torn down to leave only stone
chimneys and foundations. A grim silence hangs over the camp, and you see no
one around. Roqar
says, “This is trouble, I can smell it.” Galdor
says, “Wait… Guys… Wouldn’t a logging camp be busy at this hour?” Roqar
says, “It’s trouble, not right in the woods here.” Farren
says, “Thing’s don’t feel right here…” Galdor
says, “Shall we Investigate?” Dolores
says “Let’s look around?” The
party approaches the cabin, and Dolores looks into a window. She spots a desk
against the door and a male crouching on top of it. Galdor, taps on the window
to get his attention and the figure jerks up at the sound of the knock, saying,
“Who’s there?!” Galdor
says, “Can you please open up the window? Just Me and a party I’m part of, we
are here to deliver supplies to this logging camp.” Tibor
says, “Ah, thank goodness, Look, you need watch out, the camp has been attacked
by Ankhegs. That is why I have my desk against the door so they can’t get in.”
It turns out Dolores knows
a bit about the giant insects. They are burrowing creatures that lie in wait
for prey to move within reach, when they then erupt from the ground to capture
and eat you. They also have an acid spit attack!
