His skin is a deep brown that shifts to an almost black tone as soft short fur takes over at the edges of his face. This is broken up by ivory stripes that accentuate his high cheekbones and small pointed horns above his brow. His hair is a waterfall of delicate braids, some of which are often tied up in a bun. These braids are highlighted with strands of the same ivory color as his markings, and decorated with beads of amber and wood. His eyes are the color of honey and framed by long lashes. Melanthios wears a leather tunic beneath a chlamys dyed a vibrant wine-red. There is a leopard's pelt tied round his waist, and more scraps of pelt and hide are wrapped around his arms and shins. At one side hangs a rapier, and on the other there is a lyre and a small drum. From his neck there is a pendant of wood carved in the shape of tangled vines and grapes as well as a pan flute strung to hang for easy access. Attached to the pack he carries with him as he travels, there is a wineskin and a cittern.
