About the game Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage is designed for characters of 5th through 20th level. Undermountain is a series of interconnected dungeon levels, each one deeper than the last. The Yawning Portal, a famous inn and tavern located near the eastern slope of Mount Waterdeep, derives its name from a 40-foot-diameter well that descends into the first level of Undermountain. Located in the center of the taproom, the well was once the outer shell of Halaster’s mighty tower, which was demolished long ago. Its sheer walls are made of old mortared stones. Next to this gaping orifice hangs a winch with a simple rope-and-pulley mechanism that Durnan, the proprietor, uses to lower adventurers down the shaft and (sometimes) pull them up again. Durnan controls the winch himself and will transport only one adventurer at a time. The trip takes 10 rounds, down and up. The rope is stained with old blood and long enough to reach all the way to the floor of the dark room at the bottom of the 140-foot shaft !!! Schedule: Weekly, Monday's at 10:00 AM EST/ EDT Game Length: Minimum of 3 hours per session, maximum of 4 hours. On average games will run for 3.5 hours including a 10 minute intermission. I have run many campaigns from level 1-20 and I am often inspired to continue the campaign past the level obtained in this module. We are using D&D 5E rules with no variants from the DM's guide unless under the DM's discretion. Specific rules beat general rules. If you have not uploaded character art, I will find a generic token for you to use until you find some art you like. Character Backstory: If there is one thing I love about a character, it's backstory! I will enjoy reading your character's backstory and tying it into the plot line of the campaign. It may not be entirely relevant to this campaign, and that's ok. Backstory should be a couple of paragraphs, if it is much longer, please summarize it for me as I won't be reading full length novels on your characters history. Depending on how relevant your backstory is, it may be revisited or expanded upon during the campaign. The more you can discuss this backstory with me, the more I will include it into the campaign. About the players Please respect your fellow players and your DM. I would ask that everyone acts friendly towards another and gives others an equal chance to share the spotlight. You will receive an invite to the Discord server. You should, at the very least, have a basic understanding of the 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons rules. You should be punctual and give sufficient notice to the best of your ability if you are unable to attend a game. This is at least 24 hours before the session starts. You should cooperate with other players and the DM and not disrupt the flow of the game. You should not be rude or disruptive. You should remain engaged while playing. You should update and maintain your character sheet in an honest fashion to the best of your ability. The DM will check sheets from time to time and may make any adjustments necessary, however the DM will not be required to level your character up for you. You should have a mic with good sound quality and a stable internet connection I do not accept players in to my games within 1 hour of the session commencing as I am often busy with preparation. It usually takes me at least 20 minutes to look over a character, assign appropriate magic items, create a token and implement them into the story. Once a game has begun it would ruin the flow of the game to have to stop and do all that. If you do not have a completed character before the game starts, you won't be able play. You should try your best to avoid background noise by setting discord to push to talk or muting yourself when you are not talking. I spend countless hours creating content, adjusting modules and preparing for each session. Your payment not only helps pay for the session time, but also the preparation I put into the game. Pro Roll20 Features. I'll be using API scripts, dynamic lighting, animated spell templates and other Pro features that will enhance the gaming experience. General rules No evil alignments please There is to be no PVP or inter-party conflict. Please try to design a character that will be able to work as a team and function with the rest of the party. If a player is abusive or discriminates myself or another player, they will be promptly removed from the game and given a permanent ban and any outstanding payments will not be refunded. This is to ensure everyone plays in a fun environment. There is a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior.* Adjustments to the spell " Healing Spirit" as per recommended by Jeremy Crawford. You may heal with this spell a number of rounds equal to twice your spellcasting ability modifier. No homebrew rules will be used except where Dm fiat is needed. Monthly subscription and refund policy The monthly subscription to this game is $50. This subscription price takes into consideration that people will occasionally need to miss a game session for various life reasons, and refunds will not be provided for single missed sessions. Refunds for sessions will occur for the following reasons: If the DM is notified of an extended need for absence over multiple weeks (such as vacation, illness, etc.) If there are technical issues with Roll20 that cause the game to be cancelled. If the DM is forced to cancel a session for any reason. At the DM's discretion for any other reasons. Life happens and while I depend on subscriptions to make ends meet, I am open to clear communication about any payment issues you may be having. If there is 2 players or less available for a particular week, the game will be cancelled for that particular day and attending players will be refunded for that week. As the DM, I reserve the right to accept, deny, or remove players from the game, as well as the right to cancel the campaign at any time. Should any of these extreme situations occur, outstanding subscription balances will be refunded in full to all effected parties. Partial month payments are pro-rated. Refunds for cancelled sessions are to the value of $10 USD. Single session payments are for that particular session only and do not grant you access to the campaign automatically next week. Refunds for single sessions can only be given if at least 48 hours notice is given prior to the session commencing. Payment will need to be made prior to being given access to the voice channel. Monthly subscriptions payments are the only way to guarantee your slot for each given campaign. If you have not paid for subscription payment by the 28th of the previous month, you will be reminded that your payment is overdue. If it is still overdue 3 days before your next session you will be reminded a second time. If you still have not communicated with me and paid 2-3 days before your next session, I will need to advertise your slot. This will give me enough time to find a replacement player.
