Seeing black screen instead of map

Sorry not sure if this is posted in the right place as I'm new to the forum, if not then please move it. I'm unable to see some of the maps in our game. I can see the main map, but when we go to an area and it "zooms in" for combat, I can't see anything. I can hear the background music fine but the map is a black screen. All the other players can see it fine. I can still access my character sheet and chat, but I can't see where the other players are.  I've tried it in Chrome on chromeOS and Firefox on Linux debian (on the same chromebook), I've tried uninstalling all my extensions, clearing cookies and cache, making a new account and restarting my computer and nothing has changed. I didn't have this problem with our old campaign, it's only since I started a new one that this has happened.

Is it an exceedingly large map? Do you have any issue viewing other maps within the same game? Are you a player or the GM? If a player, are you certain the GM has set up the page and your token properly to allow sight?

And the GM is sure they've set it all up properly but they're going to go through and double-check again.  The map isn't that big I don't think. And I only got a chance to view the main zoomed out map and that was ok.

There is currently a bug on Updated Dynamic Lighting which can reveal the entire map for some players while zoomed all the way out. If some setting is preventing you from seeing at a zoomed in resolution, this might explain why you still get a view while zoomed out. Is the campaign using UDL?

When you say "zoomed in", do you mean moving to a new battle map (ie the DM is moving you to a new map which as to load) or you are literally zooming in with the mouse wheel? When you can't see the map, can you see your own token? If you can't even see the token, the GM may not have linked it to your character properly, or may not have given it sight.

Yes, the entire map was actually revealed for another player, but I couldn't see anything. I don't really mean zoomed out, I mean the main big map that we start off with. And yes, it is using UDL.

Yeah I meant the first option, sorry, couldn't think of a better way to describe it. And no, I can't see my token. All the other players can see my token though. The GM is sure they've given me sight.
I have a player that is having the exact same issue.  Everyone else in our party sees things just fine.  When I (the GM) log in as player using this players token I see things the way they should be.  This player only sees their token and black.  They have updated their browser and reinstalled a new browser (Firefox).  Neither of these have fixed the issue.
I know it's simplistic but Oosh may be right, it may be as simple as the GM forgot to select "Has Sight" on the token or did not set "Emits Light" correctly particularly if Global Illumination is off.
I am experiencing the same thing as a GM on a map that was loading last week. I have tried multiple maps and they all stay black with the loading screen.

These used to be fairly straightforward problems to troubleshoot. Now there are too many variables, with two different DL systems. The best thing to do is to file a  Help Center Request .
