Unable to Open Games & Infinite Loading

October 16 (4 years ago)

As stated in title: The loading times are infinite, & as such, the games will not open. Thanks.

October 16 (4 years ago)

Edited October 16 (4 years ago)

No issues with any other services other than roll20. No issues with any other standalone or browser-based applications, on three different devices (Desktop, Laptop, Smartphone). If I wasn't paying for a plus subscription, I wouldn't care so much.

October 16 (4 years ago)

Desktop (Windows 7, Hardware capable of running Fallout 4 at highest settings), Laptop (Windows 10, admittedly poor graphics hardware), Smartphone (New enough that I got it at the store less than a month ago).

Already tried. It takes several minutes just to load the main page. It didn't do this on Wednesday. Nothing has changed on my end. Also, I created a new game & attempted the lighting updates & it bricked immediately (https://app.roll20.net/editor/ is where it stalls). Tried to make a copy of an existing game & it wouldn't copy. Unless there is some sort of system-wide update to everything I have missed in all three of my devices, I doubt it is on my end.

You worked through all 4 steps there?  Gathered all the info and sent in a ticket?

It might not be on your end.  It might be something in between you and Roll20.  All I know is that the forums aren't lit up with this problem and I can load a game fine.  Make sure you follow through on everything laid out in that article, and hopefully the problem will come to light.

October 16 (4 years ago)
I would guess no one else has the time/patience to wait through the 5-10 minutes of loading to post a report. It won't even format your comments correctly & the reply box is tiny.

That is where all the support requests are supposed to go.  Totally up to you if you want to pursue it.

It has been a while since I have seen it come up, but having cdn.inspectlet blocked can be a problem.  Have you installed/updated any security related software recently?

Where is where all the support requests are supposed to go? (Which "That" are you referring to?)

I have changed nothing in the past few months, & Roll20 worked for me on Wednesday, Tuesday, & Monday. It should be an isolated issue, if that is the case, though it is failing to function on three different devices with three different operating systems. This seems directly linked to the recent update. I shouldn't have a 5 minute wait to get the forums page to load.

Roll20 will open on my phone, but only when I switch to Data. This seems too specific to be anything I can correct. No other web services or sites are experiencing any issues, nor are any of my applications that connect to the internet (Steam, etc.). I have a game in the morning, & need Roll20 to work. Is there any way to have the version rolled back to before the update from yesterday? This seems far to specific to Roll20 withing the specific time frame to be anything else.

October 16 (4 years ago)

I know at least one other person with the same issue, but they have a day job & don't have the time to wait for long load times.

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't seen any issues with the servers. The Console seems to show issues with "inline-scripting" or something like that causing problems with Content Security Policy. My limited research indicates whatever the issue is being related to security vulnerabilities.

Hm, seem my problem is only with Firefox(chrome working fine on linux). We have different error messages, so might have different problems.

Cool. It is taking a long time for pages to load, & some are not formatting correctly when they do load. It wasn't properly displaying that particular link when I was going through the steps, initially. I appreciate the advice.

October 16 (4 years ago)

Not sure if it is fixed, but I am now able to load games & loading times are within prior norms.

October 17 (4 years ago)

Edited October 17 (4 years ago)

I'm having a similar problem, here on a Linux client, no matter which browser I use:

https://app.roll20.net/ loads fine, paging around works fine, but anything under the .../editor/ link stalls when we reach the black page with "Loading..." displayed, under some variant of the line just below that.  Lines like "Randomizing dice rolls...(sort of).", "Crafting spells list...", "Rolling 1d20...", best is of course "Recalculating splines...".  I can't reach the stage where I could provide bugging info I'd get from a completion.

Sometimes that load is successful, but rarely.  This has been over the past day or so.

October 18 (4 years ago)

Next day, for whatever this is worth:

I can't get any session to load, from any of my four stored campaigns.  Have tried several times, and no page ever starts beyond the "Loading..." stage.

Switching browsers doesn't help.  Clearing caches doesn't cause any difference.

Other web sites seem fine, no issues there.

I gather that this is specific to some subset of logins, right, or the outcry would have been louder than the couple of us here?  Are any other sessions having this issue?

I have a weekly session starting in about half an hour.  I know, I know, just sayin'.  I weep, etc.

If you're desperate, try other borswers beside Firefox and Chrome. And did you try turning off all browser plugins from the browsers when you tried?

The situation is the same for me as it was two days ago, in that I can access Roll20 games through Chrome(latest version)(but not Firefox, no matter what I've done) while using Linux Mint 19.1. I made a support ticket and sent Roll20 my changelog, but given it's not a high priority to me, haven't heard back yet.

Did you make a request ticket for your issue and send the console logs form either/both browser?

That is just weird.  I wonder if any of the distros are making tweaks to the browser?  I'm currently running MX Linux, and using Firefox (81.0.2) as my primary browser to play.  No issues connecting here.  So far, anyway...

October 18 (4 years ago)

Turns out, something was wrong on this end.  At a different computer in the same room, everything else looking the same, logged in to my account, and the problem didn't occur.

On the first machine, I'd been having this problem on different browsers, and after reboots of those browsers.  Rebooting the OS solved the problem.  So, this appears to have been somewhere in the network stack...?  No idea.  But for me at least, shaking the system did eventually fix the issue.

October 20 (4 years ago)

I currently have the problem as well. I cannot load into games. I am receiving a lot of errors in the console. Something about rejected cookies, because they were already expired, not loading scripts, having too many parenthesiss in a RegEx, that my browser cannot create a connection to webserver "wss://s-usc1c-nss-245.firebaseio.com/.ws?v=5&ns=roll20-55" and that a Content Security Policy blocked the loading of scripts.

On Edge I recieve the following messages in the console:

After disabling DoT it seems to work, yet I'd like to use roll20 with that setting activated.

October 23 (4 years ago)

I'm having the same issue and none of the above has fixed it for me... even players across the world can't load as GM.. What is DoT?

October 29 (4 years ago)

DoT means "DNS over TLS".

My issue resolved itself some week ago after I posted in this thread, and in that time I just temporally used Chrome for Roll20, instead of Firefox which is my usual browser.
