When selecting an attribute for bars (e.g. HP) it is only populating the max. Can this be fixed?

Hi all, i'm completely new to all this and doing my best to research and learn. I'm currently learning how to get tokens set up and making things as streamlined as possible. So, when trying to set the HP for one of the token bars, I select hp from the dropdown next to it, and it the right box is populated with the hp stat correctly, but the left is blank. Is there something I might need to fix or can I change something to make the left box populate the same way? I am trying this with NPC/Monsters by the way, if that's at all relevant.
It depends on what sheet you're using, but NPC sheets typically don't have separate fields for current HP vs max HP due to their status as not being unique (most of the time). If you tie a monster's health bar to the sheet, then any change on one monster will change the health on all monsters using the same sheet. For monsters, choose the HP like you did, set the current HP to match the maximum, then change the tied stat to None so it is no longer tied to the sheet's health (or just reference the max health going in and don't bother with choosing then unchoosing HP). After you set that and then set any other token stats you want, remember to save it on the sheet. Then, you can drop several copies of the same token on the map and their health bars will be independent of one another.
Ah okay, so it would work with a player character sheet because there is a field for current and a field for max, but on the NPC sheets (which I am using) there is only one to pull from. And you're saying if I keep the attribute linked on one token, and then alter that attribute on that token, it would update that in the character sheet and then to all copies of that token as well. And that is why there is only the max hp for NPC/monsters. Is that about right? So effectively, for monsters, I can have it default the max hp, but I will need to input the current hp each time for each token? I'll have a play with it anyway and work out whatever I find easiest to work with.  Thanks for the reply, and for confirming for me that it's working as it's supposed to.
Yes, PC sheets should work as expected. But no, don't save the max HP for NPC tokens, at least, not linked to the sheet value. Save it manually. So if the max HP for the monster is 29, then set that bar for 29/29 and have it tied to None. That way whenever you bring out a copy of that monster it will have its full health bar and that instance of the token will be separate from any others. If I make 4 goblins with the same sheet/token, keeping the bar unlinked will make sure each one's health is tracked separately and not interfere with any of the others.
Understood! I shall do that then, thank you very much! :)
And just in case you have any other issues: Here is the Primer on linking tokens to sheets.
Amazing! Thank you again ^_^
