GM Willing to run 40k Game

I am looking to run a 40k game over the summer, I am willing run Rouge Trader, Dark Heresy, and Black Crusade and can run it any day besides Fridays and Saturdays. That implement time sensitive objective, as well as my own additions to the 40k lore expanding on relics and artifacts, and hidden knowledge to even the most privilege.
Oh sweet, would love to play in a dark heresy campaign where I actually know how to build and play an inquisitor. I have read several of the books and while I have limited knowledge about the strategy game, I know the three most important rules of the 40k universe. 1) Never insult the emporer 2) Ultramarines have plot armor 3) If in doubt, nuke planet from orbit. I have been playing roleplaying games for years, I've played rogue trader a couple of years ago but I didn't really know the lore much. Inquisitors are really interesting, and if we played Black Crusade I know exactly what kind of chaos marine I would want to play.
First dark heresy you don't have a change to play as an inquisitor till ascension and second I tend to stay away form Marines in Black Crusade because they tend to get the human characters into combat situations they cant handle. So I have the Rouge Trader campain all made and it wouldn't take to long to finish the others less then a day infact if a worked on it.
Well I don't know about a Rouge Trader campaign but I'm certainly down for a Rogue Trader campaign, if I can dig up that deathworld archmilitant from an aborted campaign. Also down for an all marines Black Crusade game, because it might be fun to be a Khornate Berserker. Not really into Dark Heresy though, I've heard the PCs are kind of weak in that system. And what I'd really love is a Deathwatch campaign, but hey, the system is the GM's decision and I have to respect that.
What timezone/time would this game be running at? I'm in GMT+10 (Australia) is all, but I'm pretty flexible with my times and if the time is agreeable, I'd be very interested in getting involved, I also know of another player who might well be interested and is in the same timezone. I'm new to RPGs but I know alot about the 40k universe, especially the Imperium.

BC or RT sounds delightful, but both really require the right group composition/dynamics. Sign me up for now, but it does depend on the kind of campaign and other players whether I'm on board for the long haul. However, I do like sunflowers, so that's already a good sign. Mark, the three greatest weaknesses of DH characters are A) lack of creative problem solving skills, B) GM cruelty, C) enemies with fear rating. Smart players can work around pretty much everything else. Yes, people are going to die sooner or later, but then again, how else would you know that the threat is real?
I have the books to all three games so sign me up as interested as well. I'd be down to play any of the three games.
Idle curiosity, if we end up with a Rogue Trader campaign, who's going to be THE Rogue Trader?
the Rouge Trader Campaign is set up with no one starting as the Rogue Trader, But after the Prologue the partly with decide on it. The point of DH game is to think around obstacles that could kill you. to stop the cult from summoning the demon, and such. My campains will be punishing for being stupied and there may be combat where you are not suppost to fight head on
It's kind of important to know whether or not you're going to be the Rogue Trader ahead of time, since it's a necessary part of character generation and will likely have huge consequences for the character's backstory.
I see your point, but it wouldn't be to hard to figure something out like a character who is inspiring to be a rogue trader for i need the original rogue trader to help establish modivation though i will see
I would love to get in on this. I'm already running two other games and it would be great to get to be a player for a change. I personally prefer Dark Heresy or Black Crusade, though I'm good with anything 40k in general. My only hesitation is this: will Mic/Voice be required? These are not an option for me, unfortunately, so I have to ask.
Id love to join in on this as well. ive ran so many 40k games in the past that it would be nice to finally be a player for once in this world. I wont be able to game on Fridays or the Weekends and im in EST or GMT -5 timezone.
A character aspiring to be a Rogue Trader would have been training for it his whole life because he's the heir to a dynasty or because his family has been working really hard to try to convince the Adminstratum to give them a Warrant and would thus have chosen Rogue Trader as his career so that he has the skillset needed to be an effective Rogue Trader. The way I see it, there are 3 outcomes of not deciding the Rogue Trader before we start playing: The first is that we're lucky and only one player chooses Rogue Trader as his career. In this case, we really didn't lose anything by delaying this decision until the first session was done. The second is that none of the players choose Rogue Trader as their career. This could mean that the Rogue Trader is an NPC, but that takes the 'go wherever we damn well please' fun right out of the game. But if one of the PCs wants to be the Rogue Trader, they will have to rewrite their character (which is work and may make no sense at all in universe), roll a new character (which is a fair bit of work) or just be ill-suited for being a Rogue Trader. The third is that multiple players choose Rogue Trader as their career. Every Rogue Trader beyond the first means that the party has one less member that brings skills and talents from their career to the table that none of the other players do. This can fixed by rewrites or rolling new characters, but it would've been a lot less work not to roll the excess Rogue Traders in the first place. On the note of that last one, once we get a time locked down we should tell each other what we want to play so we don't step on each other's toes too much.
Im in agreement with Mark C. The position of Rogue Trader must be determined ahead of time since that position is the undisputed leader and lord of the ship. Without that position, the PCs will be nothing more than slaves to an NPC which takes away alot of freedom of the Rogue Trader game. Now with that in mind, the position of Rogue Trader would need to go to a person who has the understanding and knowledge of how the Rogue Trader works and this person will need to be able to command a crew of several thousands of people as well. So my advice to the GM is let one of the PCs be the Rogue Trader and have only one of the PCs be the Rogue Trader since multiple Rogue Traders will be very annoying, they will fight over resources for their families and most importantly take away the skills that the crew needs as mark c said above. I for one have the knowledge, understanding and leadership qualities as a person to be the Rogue Trader and perhaps it would be a good fit for me to do so. So i guess if possible ill take the role of Rogue Trader if it fits with the game. Otherwise ill choose something else for it.
that is fine, I have already worked it into the story where the PC Rouge Trader is being trained by one of more experience as a favor to the family which is not unheard of, that should fix this simple problem. Dont forget the rouge trader has the fate of the party for they could do anything even begin the awakening of necrons if they make several bad decisions for example I also will not allow multiple rouge traders into the party for such reasons. The biggest problem with the game is if the Rouge Trader PC where to have to roll a new character for the Rouge Trader is the hardest character to have to intruduce into a campain
That makes more sense then my friend. I agree with the fate of the party is in the hands of the Rogue Trader. Thats why if i do become the Rogue Trader of the group, every PC will be given an equal vote on what decision the party will do when the time comes and the majority will rule. That way everyone will have a say in what we do for better or worse. Still interested in the game cause it sounds like alot of fun.
Is there still a spot open for this? I'd be down for playing Rogue Trader, going Arch Militant or Navigator or even Tau if you'd let me.
I'd be willing to take on the task of the Rogue Trader. I'm getting pretty familiar with Warhammer 40k lore, the factions and what drives them forward, how the tech works for most of the factions, how their faiths work, how Psykers and the Warp operate and would be building the character to understand how to communicate with these groups and, if need be, combat them.
Well, I think you all put too much emphasis on the title of Rogue Trader. Unless the Rogue Trader is neither bright enough to listen nor dumb enough to be ignored or played as a puppet, most of the important dealings rest largely on the shoulders of Seneschal, Missionary, or whoever-has-the-right-contacts (often one of the other four archetypes). These are the people you need to convince of your decisions as Rogue Trader. You have staff to "convince" the tens or hundreds of thousands of crew underneath you. (Convince can mean very different things here, depending on whether your crew is conscripts, convicts, servitors or what have you.) And if the RT falls in that problematic zone of mediocre intelligence and overbearing egomania, they will not be making decisions for too long. Either they'll ruin their dynasty, or someone will stop them. A Rogue Trader without the support of his (immediate) subordinates is just a man or woman with a very old, very expensive piece of paper and a more or less famous name. Their ship will be blind, deaf-mute, starving, lame and defenseless, with unrest boiling up in its bowels.

While I agree the Rogue Trader would be NOTHING without the crew to back them up, it's also important to have some kind of figurehead. Even if the Rogue Trader isn't making every single choice aboard the ship, it's still important to have someone step up and be a leader to the NPC crew. They need to be present in every aspect of the ship, to show their charisma (of fear mongering if that's how one runs it) to motivate that crew to work harder and can work towards keeping the morale up. The Rogue Trader is the one who ties all the other roles together into a cohesive whole instead of just a group of specialists with no particular direction.
ok lets talk about time and day im free everyday besides friday and saturday and i am in pacific time, i would though like to get started asap. I understand this about the Rouge Trader but he is also the person who has to make the snap decisions in situations where you dont have a large time to plan, or where every second counts, say a war was starting to break out and you only had 20 min or so till you where surrounded by it and you had yet to complete you goal.
My schedule is a bit wonky but I'm free nights. I can get started ASAP as well.
thursdays fridays and weekends dont work for me and im in GMT -5 eastern time zone. I can play pretty much every time from 1pm to about 11pm on the days im available.
how many people could do character creation at 11am Pacific so we can do some life talking about game time even if its late today

I would like to participate as well if possible, I have some experience with Dark Heresy and would love another Warhammer 40k RPG. I've also got flexible hours during summer so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

I do love all the 40k games, and I wish I had the time to play. Here's a map that you might be able to use: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z3aig2djo4nk9p8/facility... You can also find my collection of Grimdark Sci-Fi Tiles in the marketplace... I created them for when I was running Rogue Trader on another VTT, but I figured I might as well share them with everyone.
so Thursday 4pm pacific time
Figure it might be a bit late to hop in on this one. I actually just joined Roll20 to find a 40k game, can't seem to get one started where I am. Only have a little Rogue Trader experience but am familiar with the rules. Just let me know if it's still open and I'll pop a PM over. Thanks!
yea we have room
If there is any more space I too would like to try to jump on board. I'm basically in the same boat that Shane was in. Let me know.
I am still sending invites it all depends its first come first serve till i fill the party just join room and we can make your character
Thursdays at 4 PM, (thats 7 PM my time) is perfect and I am an experienced Rogue Trader player. If you still have room I'd love to get involved.
2 spots opened up
I'll sign up to get on board. Played a bunch of 40k RPG's before. I know the system like the back of my hand.
I'm guessing you only have 1 spots left because of doom but me and a friend are interested in playing 40k rpgs. Depending if the time is near PST.
Never played a 40k rpg before but have watched some VODs on it and am interested in the lore and system, so if you've got room for someone new to 40k I'd love to join.
