Hey all, so I'm a newbie DM looking for another person to join our group of laid back roleplay focused players to in a nautical-themed adventure in Critical Role's Exandria setting. We've got four solid players but I'd love to add one more, five just feels like the perfect number for a party and I want to "future proof" the campaign in case something happens and someone has to drop out. Right now there is no indication of that so awesome; still would like one more player. One last thing: campaign is on pause this weekend due to we will be missing a player so doing a one shot for Halloween. Short version: plenty of time to apply and for me to figure out how to intro your PC. Group right now, lvl2: A Kobold Bard, A Genasi Cleric to The Wildmother, A Fighter Gunslinger Gnome and A Conjuration Wizard Hobgoblin. Age wise our youngest is 19 and I'm probably the eldest at 30, the others are mid to late 20's so thats probably the range I'm looking for but not any real kind of dealbreaker. Also one of our PCs identifies with they/them pronouns so if that bothers you dont bother me with an app. A bot about me: I've run a number of one shots for a group I'm a player in when our Dm's been unavailable and now I want to give an actual long form campaign a chance. This game is 3 sessions in so still a great time to hop in. Here's a "movie poster pitch": Saltmarsh was once this sleepy backwater fishing town but with the rise of the once fallen land of Dranconia to its north Saltmarsh now finds itself the del facto port of this nation of Dragonborns. The return to relevance has renewed The Dwendalian Empire's and Krynn Dynasty's intrest in securing trade and political favors with Draconia. Saltmarsh now finds itself on the verge of becoming this new thriving port with ships from the world over and all types sailing the same bay waters and dicing in taverns dry or dreary. The same old planks line the piers that once fisherfolk only stepped now pirates and slavers walk the same boards as privates and politicians of the highest esteem. Some relish the changes, others yearn for a return to a quieter time. None know what secerts or riches Saltmarsh holds or hides for you, the only thing for certain in this town is: change is on the winds and fortune on the waves. I've been playing 5e for about 2years now and DMing for just this past summer. I think that my DMing style would best be described as improv narrative focused, I plan to try to incorporate PC backstories as we go on with the campaign. Please post the word raspberry somewhere in your app so i know you read all this and can follow directions. Most stuff is cool for the table but I draw a hard line at sexual assault or sexual stuff in the game. So fade to black will happen if you roll well on seducing the barmaid or barman. So setting stuff: Exandria's a high magic setting, there's the beginning of flintlock and clockwork firearms being made by tinkerer's and cannons; it is a pirate campaign after all. Lets see what else have I been asked in the past... idk, think I've covered alot. Respond with the following: Name: Pronoun: Can you, reasonably, commit to the scheduled time for the foreseeable future (next 2-3months): DND EXP: Please let me know what kinds of dramatic events, if any, you don’t feel have a place in a game that would be fun for you: A very basic concept of your PC; Class Race and general idea of the character (what do they want, what is driving them to adventure, maybe a character from Pop Culture that's a good template to help give me an idea of who they are/what they want). Don't give me their whole backstory we can work on that later together: Put more or less, effort put in shines over the posts that dont.
