Is there a way for me when I'm in game and I go to the "I" icon and search by keyword, is there a way for me to search by monster type? Ex type "fey" and it will populate with all fey monsters in the compendium

Absolutely. There is a "Filter Results button at the top of the list: Click that, choose your filter terms (ex: type - fey) and the list will update.

As an additional note. You first have to select the correct category in the compendium before those filter settings appear. It took me a while to find this in regards to spells.
