New player LFG retuning to play after 20 year absence

Hello, I’m Ray. I live in Scotland and am 38. I was a huge fan of table top RPGs as a youth, but after school ended I never had the opportunity or the time to continue playing. I have maintained interest over the years and have familiarised myself with 5e. I attempted to DM a home brew game a few years back, but unfortunately it fell apart after a couple of sessions due to unreliable players. I’m so excited to get back into the swing of things and look forward to hearing from any DMs looking for players. I’d prefer to play for free if possible, as I am unfamiliar with pay for play but am prepared to pay as long as it’s within reason.
