Looking on Advice, DMing for money

Hello folks, really I hope I got into the right forum this time; I don't post in forums too often. Anyways so I have been DMing on and off for a little while now and so far have not had too many complaints. At this point, well, I want to do more and well devote time more time to building worlds working on plots. In an effort to try and do so, well, I have come to conclusion that I need to try and get some income coming so I can free up the time to devote to this. Which has lead me to the topic of today, monetization.  So for people who DM and get paid for it, do you have any tips for getting started? What kind of rate do you normally charge? Do you charge by session or by hour? Are there things that you charge extra for, like for adding more story lore to a character's back story or for running a certain type of module. What kind of things do your players usually expect and how much discussion do you suggest for setting a game that will satisfy your players? As for people who have played in paid games, what are you expectation of your DMs; expansive maps? Goofy voices? Grandiose description of far off lands? How about making your characters more active in the world at large? And what do you feel is a fair price to pay? Do you prefer to pay as a group or as individuals? I am also considering other options such as streaming my games. Has anyone found success with that and what do you use for that kind of model (I mean we all have seen criticalRoll but Matt Mercer I am not)? What about posting recordings of them to places like youtube or recounting tales from games? That also raises questions of copyright that I will have to explore as well. I am even considering trying to a kickstarter to try to get some start up if that is a direction or setting up a Patreon people can subscribe to, although I am not sure what I can offer for either of those. Anyways any advice on those kinds of topics would be helpful, I really am just feeling the waters at this point and doing research. Hopefully other people will find the info useful as well as I am sure I am not the only person thinking about these kind of things. Thank you to anyone who comes across this post I do appreciate your time.

I wouldn’t charge per hour. $5 a session is pretty much the low end. You should only run the type of game you enjoy playing. So it’s basically a normal game only players contribute towards it. as far as streaming goes you would need consent from each player. Recounting stuff from YouTube is entirely your own right, so long as players remain anonymous. i think you may be slightly overthinking things, it’s just a normal game but with a fee. and never compare yourself to another DM or try to emulate... you are your own person with your own style, and can provide super fun games. The fallacy is thinking your games are bad or not fun because you aren’t as good at X as someone else. And not to discredit or undermine the greatness of MM, but I have players that much prefer some of my names to Matt’s. Friendship and beer goes a long way :)
