2 Heavy Calvary This is a breakdown of an average Legion of the Chattignon Empire.    The legion is based upon the concept of a Roman Legion.    This is a standard 5000-man legion with both noncommissioned and commissioned officers.   This does not include support elements, only actual troops.    The average Legionnaire is 4th Level Two thousand Footmen (they are armed with a gladius/longsword, heavy shield, Full Plate, and spear/javelin) AC21 One thousand Archer (Composite longbow, small shield, Chain shirt and longsword) AC18 One thousand arcane spell casters  One thousand Divine spell casters third level (Heavy Shield, full Plate, crossbow, and mace)   Noncommissioned officers: One thousand Sergeants (1 sergeant for every five troops.  6th Level Sergeants function as squad leaders)    Commissioned officers:   One hundred Lieutenant:  A lieutenant is an assistant to a captain/centurion, they oversee fifty troops.  Therefore, each is personally responsible for ten squads that consists of fifty soldiers and ten supporting sergeants under their direct command.     In modern terms, they would oversee a large platoon acting as the platoon leader.     50 Centurion can normally command one hundred troops or two platoons and have two lieutenants under them commanding the platoons.    In modern day, this would be equal to a company      10 Chief Centurions, in modern day these would function as battalion commanders and hold the rank equivalent of a LT Colonel.    Each Chief Centurion commands five hundred troops and the needed leadership structure under them.       Praefectus castrorum (camp Prefect) (this position is given to the high ranking, most long-term Centurion, they oversee all the administrative side of the camp and coordination.  This is not a war position, as it is more concerned with the general upkeep, supply, payment, and personnel of the legion) In modern armies, this would be equal to a division's adjutant   5 Tribunus angusticlavia control one thousand troops apiece, think full colonel controlling two battalions under them.   It is from the Tribunus angusticlavia that the Tribunus laticlavius are promoted.   The senior or most trusted Tribnunus angusticlavia is often promoted to Tribunus laticlavius, or it may be the trusted friend of the Legatus legionis.     Tribunus angusticlavia can also be from noble families, in which the members have been trained in the art of strategy and warfare.  In most legions, the Tribunus angusticlavia are promoted from within, though it is not unheard-of high-ranking nobles that have military experience to promoted to the rank.  Those nobles that have promoted to Tribunus angusticlavia have often served with their parents as aides on campaigns.   Young nobles are placed at this level to be mentored by the Tribunus laticlavius and the Legatus legionis.   It is common that an inexperienced Tribunus angusticlavia will have their senior commanders collaborate closely with them and instruct them to the ways of warfare before letting them go out and perform oversee missions on their own.      1 Tribunus laticlavius, this is the legion’s second in command.      1 Legatus legionis, this is the legion commander.      Chattignon also have both a mounted cavalry and airborne cavalry consisting of giant eagles     Elvish Legion  Five hundred Footmen (they are armed with a Longsword, Tower Shield, Full Plate, and short bow) AC22 Two thousand Archer (Composite longbow, buckler shield, Elven Chainmail, and longsword) AC21 1500 arcane spell casters (Staff, Rapier, Longbow, and dagger) Usually  One thousand Divine spell casters (Heavy Shield, Full Plate, Longbow, and Long Sword) AC21   Centaur 4100 Heavy Centaur Calvary (they are armed with a longsword, tower shield, Full Plate and Heavy Lance) AC24    450 Divine spell caster riders (Heavy Shield, Full Plate, Longbow, and long sword) 450 Arcane Spell Caster Rider For Every five Centaurs, a divine Spellcaster or Arcane Spellcaster will be assigned as rider.     The Elves also have at their disposal two entire legions of Griffin Knights.  Griffin Knights are trained knights that have taken a cohort as the mount.  Griffin Knights are known by the honorific of Sir.  All Griffin Knights must have the series of needed feats to become one and have taken the leadership feat to make their mount their cohort.   Griffin Knights all have the following feats to qualify for the title of Knight:   Mounted Combat, Leadership, Mounted Archery, Ride by Attack, Spirited Charge, Trample and Cavalry Charge.   The Fey enforces the Elvish army acting as their auxiliary units.   Average cost to support each legion this size with the starting level being of soldiers and/or casters being third level is 731,425 GP per month.    That is standard mercenary pay for each position and level.    Chattignon is known to pay 200% the normal going rate, Thechlon usually pays 175% standard and the Dwarves paying 150% standard rate.    Standard rate is also what most mercenaries are paid, though some are paid more due to their ability, experience, and their ability to act on the behalf of a noble with no questions asked.   Trapalea pays normal rate, Calcaria pays approximately 150% standard rate due to requiring most of their recruits to have seafaring knowledge.   Satoria's army is entirely constructs with only the officers being humanoid.    Griffon knights and Eagle Knights are always officers and thus are paid more due to their ability of riding flying mounts.   The starting level for the two is eighth level and are usually fighters turned cavaliers.
