Custom Counters

I think custom counters would be a great addition to Roll20. Counters that could be added to tokens as well as private GM counters. These could be so useful for keeping track of ammo, potions, weight, gold, rounds, and in the system I play energy points which are used to perform actions, cast spells etc.. Having them with different shield icons would be excellent. So for example if I want to make a global energy point counter for all players I could put it in a diamond shield, have the font green when full yellow when below full and above half, orange when below half and red when it is completely exhausted. Moreover a refresh global linked macro option to reset all to full after an extended rest. The uses for this functionality is endless and would transcend all games. This would rapidly speed up game play as well as be a great aid for GMs and players alike. Thanks :) To help support Roll20, perhaps have counters available to all subscription levels, BUT custom counter shields and colors available ONLY to subscribers. Also dynamic color changing only for Mentor level subscribers.

You can set a number 1-9 on the existing statusmarkers (type the desired number while hovering your mouse over the statusmarker in the selection window). Tokens also have 3 bars with a current and max value you can set or even tie to attributes on the character sheet. If the GM wishes, only some of the bars can be set to visible by the players.

In addition to what Brian suggests, you can also set up a card deck where you can give players ammo, potions, gold or energy tokens as you suggest, that they keep in their hand until spent.
Thanks for the feedback. The card deck is something I have not messed with but could be an effective work-around.
