[CLOSED] I am a DM looking for two additional players to join an existing group for weekly sessions playing a new campaign of the Out of the Abyss module, Sundays from 7:30-10pm EST. About Us: Our group (currently 4) originated from a local board gaming meetup and began playing 5e in person about a year ago. We are all local to the greater Annapolis, MD area (bonus if you are too as we hope to return to in-person someday), and when the pandemic hit we moved our sessions online in order to continue playing.  We recently lost one member due to scheduling issues and are looking to rebuild the group and start a new campaign. We enjoy a mix of role-play, hack and slash, problem solving, and general shenanigans. I will be acting as DM for this adventure, though we sometimes rotate in one-shots or other short adventures to be able to play around peoples schedule conflicts.  I have been playing D&D, Pathfinder, and a few other systems for the last 3 years and have been DM'ing regularly for the last year.  My goal is to make sure that the players get to enjoy making the adventure their own and I look for opportunities to adjust campaigns to fit the model of play that the group enjoys. The Campaign: We will be starting a new campaign of the Out of the Abyss adventure module, which I have not run before. There will be expansions, additions, and improvisations to exactly how it goes, mostly because I really enjoy the process of making a story our own. We will be starting from scratch with a session 0 next Sunday to meet new players, discuss characters and backgrounds, provide input on player preferences, etc. Explore the Underdark: a subterranean wonderland, a vast and twisted labyrinth where fear reigns. It is here that portals to the demonic Abyss open, and what lies beyond terrifies even the cruel creatures born to the dark. Stop the Underdark’s tumble into madness before it consumes you and all of the Forgotten Realms! Schedule: We play once per week, Sunday from 7:30-10:00ish PM EST. Sessions are informal and we take breaks as needed, but do our best to keep the game moving to make the most of our time. I have no idea how long this particular campaign will take, but would guess 9 months to a year+. Tentative session 0 is set for November 15th. Rules and Expectations: We will be using Google Meet for voice and video chat.  If you want to join this group we expect to get to know a bit about you, as we are friends first and D&D players second. I am not going to go into a lot of detail about rules.  Be a decent person.  Don't discriminate against anyone.  Be able to take a joke, but feel free to speak up if something crosses a line. Understand that fitting well into the existing group dynamic will be an important factor in determining if get to join/play with us. Players of any level of experience are welcome. Our current players range from less than a year of experience to multiple years in multiple systems. Most likely no homebrew content will be allowed for character creation.  Generally speaking I am open to any of the official WotC content, but check before you plan on doing anything unusual.  We ask that you commit to the group and the game.  We totally understand that life happens, and we all cancel occasionally but we like to try to meet and play on a regular basis. Application: If you are interested, please fill out the following either via roll20 private message or as a reply in this thread. We will do our best to look at the people that want to join and let you know as quickly as possible if we have a slot for you. Name: Pronouns: Age: D&D and Roleplaying Experience: What are your other interests besides D&D: Why do you want to join our game? Please give me a list of topics that are Triggers/Off Limits: Please take 34 points and distribute them among the categories below. No more than 10 points may go into a single category. 1.       Roleplay Interaction (I want to RP, get into character, and explore my PC’s backstory)   2.       Exploration (I want to go to new places and play with the environments we will be encountering.)   3.       Investigation (I love solving mysteries, and getting involved with exciting social/political aspects of the world.)   4.       Fighting (I enjoy combat and enjoy it, especially when it is dramatic, or I can be tactical within it.)   5.       Problem Solving (I love to make plans, and overcome obstacles.  I love trying to solve a puzzle, or work out what the villain is thinking)   6.       Storytelling (I want to make major decisions and help shape the plot)
Name: Gaunty (If we end up gaming together I will make a proper introduction, if you like.) Pronouns: she/her Age: 30 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I've been playing D&D for a bit more than two years now. My roleplay experience in online forums goes back 17 years, however. I've always been a fantasy nut!  What are your other interests besides D&D: Most anything artistic or creative I can guarantee I have tried at least once. I garden and cook these days a lot more than I used to. I also enjoy video games, reading, and picking up new skills. Why do you want to join our game? I'm running Out of the Abyss myself at the moment and OH MY GOODNESS it is a fun module! The Underdark has slowly evolved into my favorite locale, and I would love to experience this story as a player. (I can't stand metagaming, so while I can't say I am playing spoiler free I can assure you I will not act on information my PC doesn't have.) Please give me a list of topics that are Triggers/Off Limits:  Explicit content makes me uncomfortable to the extreme. I would very much prefer the classic fade to black. This is a very dark module and features the Drow who are VERY nasty people. I am willing to keep an open mind; I would only ask that anything too horrible (ie: not something on the module roll tables. I know there are things like "madness") be discussed in advance before it happens to my character.  Please take 34 points and distribute them among the categories below. No more than 10 points may go into a single category. (I had to think hard! Some tough calls to make!) 1.       Roleplay Interaction (I want to RP, get into character, and explore my PC’s backstory)  7   2.       Exploration (I want to go to new places and play with the environments we will be encountering.)  5   3.       Investigation (I love solving mysteries, and getting involved with exciting social/political aspects of the world.) 4   4.       Fighting (I enjoy combat and enjoy it, especially when it is dramatic, or I can be tactical within it.) 6   5.       Problem Solving (I love to make plans, and overcome obstacles.  I love trying to solve a puzzle, or work out what the villain is thinking) 3   6.       Storytelling (I want to make major decisions and help shape the plot) 8
Hi all, I am currently going through the responses that we received via private message and here.  I hope to be reaching out to people on Wednesday and Thursday to let them know if we have space for them.  Thanks for your patience.

Name: Pat. I'll happily send you my Discord info in a private message, once you feel that there's a chance I would be a good fit. Pronouns: They/them Age: 50 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: About 30 years, although that includes some breaks of course. I have been, in recent years, mostly storyteller, but I enjoy being a player all the same! I've played and GM'ed a number of systems, although my current campaign is actually using 5th edition. What are your other interests besides D&D: Cats, Persian and central Asian culture, Jugendstil / Art Nouveau, prog music, 18th and 19th century German and English literature, board games (many types!), cooking, history of philosophy, contract bridge, fencing, kayaking, archery. I can't reckon my spouse in that already long list, so I'll place him well above all that. :) Why do you want to join our game? I enjoy being able to contribute to not just the story and the overall group atmosphere, but help flesh out the world a little, and it seems you would be open to at least the idea. We can always talk about the extend to which it would suit you, of course. Please give me a list of topics that are Triggers/Off Limits: I'm not at all interested in people who set out to trigger others, no matter what the topic is. Any attempt at toxicity should be outright blocked. Aside from that, I'm no fan of PVP, and feel that either party should have a veto right to it taking place.  As far as things that make me personally squirm: there aren't too many things beyond the usual (forced sexual content, for instance). By and large, I feel that any actions that deny agency and free will need a good excuse. For instance, mind control spells used to deny a bloodbath are likely fine, but the same used to create a scandal for personal gratification wouldn't be kosher. Please take 34 points and distribute them among the categories below. No more than 10 points may go into a single category. 1.       Roleplay Interaction (I want to RP, get into character, and explore my PC’s backstory) 7   2.       Exploration (I want to go to new places and play with the environments we will be encountering.) 3   3.       Investigation (I love solving mysteries, and getting involved with exciting social/political aspects of the world.) 9  4.       Fighting (I enjoy combat and enjoy it, especially when it is dramatic, or I can be tactical within it.) 3. Note: I enjoy dramatic combat, but overly tactical stuff doesn't appeal too much. It needs to suit the story and preferably avoid being a contest of rules knowledge. 5.       Problem Solving (I love to make plans, and overcome obstacles.  I love trying to solve a puzzle, or work out what the villain is thinking) 5  6.       Storytelling (I want to make major decisions and help shape the plot) 7 I would love to hear back from you, regardless of whether I would make for a good fit. And, of course, I hope that you end up with a group that is harmonious and suits your storytelling style!
