I'm having a hard time :/

Hi guys! my name is rich and I am having a very hard time. I'm new to roll 20 and 5.e but I have played a lot of 3.5. I really like how 5.e is less bogged down with rules and has greater focus on story telling. that being said I just have not found a group. I've posted a couple times but with no hits. I also feel like im avoiding games that sound amazing out of fear that I may not be good enough :/ I really could use a or some experienced player(s) to help build some of these skills. If anyone is up to the task of helping this noob please feel free to respond to this post! even if its just advice! thanks guys!

Hey, Rich, my name is Levi. I find this sort of anxiety very common in DnD. There's always a sense that there's a "right" way to play this game, right? And if our games don't resemble Matt Mercer's, or all the people on the fancy streams, then we're doing it wrong, right? WRONG! I think of DnD like art, and so it's subjective. Like, a lot of people are into fancy battles and prefer lists upon lists of attributes and fumble tables and stuff. But others prefer being in town more often, and chatting with NPCs and speaking in fun accents and such. Much like art, there is no right or wrong DnD. Definitely expand your craft, you know? Take on the challenges that you enjoy, to make your game suit you and the players around you. DnD is simply what you make of it, and if you put in an effort, it will show, I feel. Have fun gaming! Thank you for taking the time! I really appreciate the confidence boost .I will try to take all of that with me as I grow! I wish I could join you all but I wouldn't be home till 5:15 est time :( I wouldnt ask a group to postpone for me.
