Why would Roll 20 allow you to replace an NPCs full character sheet with an NPC creature?

So I just found the feature where if you drag a monster over your character sheet it will ask if you want your character to turn into that monster. I thought it was a new Roll20 feature to make druids work. My PC is now wiped. I understand, based on other posts in here that the only way to fix this is to roll the game back or remake my character and guess what my inventory was. Why is this a feature?

Did you try going back into setting and switch the sheet from npc to pc?  Most of your character info may still be there, though that depends on exactly which game system/character sheet you are using. As for why it exists, I expect that feature is more likely to be used by a DM than a player, for those times you are creating a custom creature.

May they write ballads of your wisdom! It all came back! thank goodness. Several other posts had this as only fixable by rolling the game back.

As a heads up, for anyone stuck in this situation. It DOES REPLACE all of your character scores and proficiencies with the creature's but you get all your inventory back. My rolls also keep showing up as Giant Elk
I just did the same thing. I unchecked "npc" and had to redo my ability scores. But things like my spells, gold, etc were still there. But yes, all my rolls in the chat are labeled "giant spider". I am going to try going into the Attributes and Abilities tab, I saw a bunch of npc rows that maybe I can alter? I dunno this is over my head.
I think I fixed it by going into Attributes and Abilities, found "npc name" that said Giant Spider. Deleted that row.
