2020-11-14 Game Recap

The sundial shadows continue to change as the party moves through the maze. They fight past a passageway full of carnivorous plants, then the sorcerer recognizes that the shadows are leading to the sundial itself. When the party gathers around the sundial, they fall into it and appear at the next area! The ranger recognizes that none of the paths are correct, and the bard sends her familiar through the hedges, triggering the final pathway and bringing them to the base of the tower itself. Behind them, the path is clear to leave, past the sundial and back to the village. At the base of the tower is the body of the cultist they previously saw flung from the tower's balcony above. There is a door into the ground floor, but they choose to first investigate the balcony. Tammy fires a grappling arrow up to the balcony and Mella sends her familiar to scout above. She spots several cultists on the balcony, and the party leaps into action! Noramina summons a plague of insects, Mella locks the enemies into place with an entangle spell, and in moments all the cultists lie dead. After dismissing the dangerous spells, the party climb up to the balcony and search the cultists - finding the hourglass key that they saw Iskander use earlier! Inside the tower, there is a teleportation circle with an hourglass symbol, which Brin activates using the key. The adventurers appear in the dungeon below the tower! Here there are three more dead cultists, and just beyond a room guarded by three elementals. There is a set of bloody footprints leading through the room and down a set of stairs. Tammy moves quickly past the elementals and down the stairs, into a strange hallway that seems to pass through a vast star-filled expanse. Seeing that the elementals do not follow her, the rest of the party does the same. Carefully staying on the path, they make their way down the hallway and follow the footprints around a corner. They open a door to find the body of Iskander! He succumbed to his wounds before the adventurers arrived, but he still has the blue dragon mask, which they claim. Mella uses her teleportation magic to return the party to the tower, and from there they quickly make their way out through the maze. When the party returns with the mask to the village outside the tower, they are met by a sight of massive destruction! An adult blue dragon, which they recognize as Lennithon - the same who attacked Greenest - is attacking the village. Seeing the adventurers and sensing that they have the mask, he turns toward them and demands the return of the mask. But Brin puts the mask on and threatens to destroy it if Lennithon does not leave immediately, and with the magic in the mask, the dragon believes him! Before the dragon can realize his mistake and return, Mella quickly teleports them back to Waterdeep.
Always thought Lennithon was overrated, much preferred McCartnithon.
