The Ambush

How is Zhora's ambush site coming along? Are the MMs obedient? Or does she need to fix that? Do we have the Fire Traps and Flaming Tumbleweeds? I know we have the snares and the pit with spikes and the Bunji traps. Because Zhora can do all that.
I'm fine with that. This how you are rigging the entrances into the mongrelmen compound right? If so you will need to drawn on the mongrelmen compound map where you wish the various traps to be placed. I guess you could make fire and tumbleweed, (made from dried jungle foliage), traps as well.
We rig none of the entrances.  We WANTT them to come in with hubris and contempt for us so0 they chase the "easy meat"  Then SURPISE! You are now so fucked. That will break enemy morale and it w/ just be a mop up tunnel rate job that we w/ have to do Leeroy Jenkins but w/ MM and tasloi support! The Tunnel rat job w/ be harder than the ambush. like it was for the Green Berets in Vietnam. But we need to break the BBs and Bullywugs and Lizard of the Fire sort and recruit the N/N Lizzies b4 the MMs blow the cover and become "easy meat"  So the 2 things we do next ... and if nobody will help Zhora w/ #1 go see the Tasloi and help them fortify against an artillery seige While the main party #2 Recruits the N/N Lizardmen  Right now main force is returning to MM compoud w/ bows and arrows for the MMs Those w/ be great for the ambush! So we do not fortify the fort. We appear weak, then WHACK! you fell for it LOL Does that make sense?
I still dont think we should try to recruit the Lizardmen until we have started the war because at this point we have nothing to offer them, they dont care for money, all we can do is promise them something, which is the same thing they are getting already  Once we start the war we can promise them an even greater feast on all the Yuan-ti and the others if they help us
I am guided by your wisdom, Roxxy
Roxxy? do you think we ought to whack the Lizzies b4 we start the Normandy offensive? I am worried: Once start Normandy, the YTs will unite their grunts ... which will also be the Lizzies. So ... you see the Catch 22?
I think we should take down the Bugbears first. I have explained the plan. We make diversions with fires in the east while we Leeroy Jenkins their tunnels in the west.  We want to take them out beginning at maybe 1 hour after dawn and try and let none escape to blow our cover.  Then the Fire Lizards. Then the hapless Bullywugs. BTW, Shiela was almost out of Healing Spells this morning's session and Sheila was scurrying around like a tweaker ...  I am amazed I did not get grappled and sacrificed!  I really owe the Company!
Xili's Confusion was a game changer, imho. Xili rocked Sheila's world last session. Also Max was like some kind of arrow magnet?
I think we start by attacking the Bugbears, after that, we dont know what will happen, but, we stay together once we start, we tell our allies its starting and stay together.  Let the Mongrelmen and the Gladiators run off if they choose to chase after anyone
Great ideas, imho, Roxxy. Divide and conquer; try and avoid facing a United States of Yuan Ti defense a=then counter attack. Butthe obvious counter-attack sites are the MM fort, which is now turned into a Kill Zone and the Tasloi Tree Town, which is now mud daubed and no longer vulnerable to FBs but still to catapults. I wish would would hobble those captapults. Just remove the axel nuts so the wheels fall off, gnaw the tow ropes, etc. just slow them. We also should start posting MM signal men for early warning w/ say smoke signals. Or jsu a series of linked calls. When Cook landed in Botany Bay, new reached WA at the other end of the continent in two weeks as it was passed on tribe by tribe. Like the bonefire array in LoTR. Which calls the Rohans ... so we know when they are headed for the Tasloi or if they are. The MMs can hit them in the flank by surprise if they attack Tasloi but Zhora needs to drill them for that action too.  I have not really figured much in the way of a Tasloi fortification system. just some pits so far. Fire would be great but dep-ends on the wind, which we cannot rely on, but tey could use iif the wind was with them. It worries Zhora. I'm still cogitating, taking in mind that I know more aoout warfare than she does. because I know everything she knows because she is my PC but she does not know everything I know because I know how to make gunpoweder from condies' crystals, saltpeter, celery and acid, or even human piss, etc. yeah I was a teen pyromaniac. So i have to remain true to ancient Scythian warfare and channel Zhora. Zhora is not afraid of death, for example. Well neither am I. But I am afraid of pain and she is not. Keep jamming with me on this Roxxy and we will come up w/ a plan to turn the Tasloi into a trap. So far I just have MM surpise folanking attack and pits.
Once we start it, we will become the primary targets, thats why we need to stick together, but the Mongrelmen and Gladiators may want to run off and attack some place, let them it makes another distraction, they may want to go kill those non-combatants  at the Mongrelmen camp and they probably have some kind of alarm system, we dont have those to spare we need everyone with us that can fight assuming we do good at the start, we can try to turn the Lizardmen to our side so we dont leave any troops at the camps, they come with us either they will be part of the victory or we all end up dying at the hands of the Yuan-ti
' the Mongrelmen and Gladiators may want to run off and attack some place, let them it makes another distraction" Zhora 1000% agrees  Not so sure about "we will become the primary targets"; they might start w/ what seems known, visible and obvious aand NEDS punishment for treason b4 the rot spreads, set an "example" very L/E Zhora is setting up a signal chain for early warning and intel monitoring for the MMs ... Ricky is that okay? they come with us either they will be part of the victory  yes if we move first and have early wins, and seem the stronger party if the YTs do Operation Sae Li0n and invade Britain they will use the Lizzies as meat shields? and that will mean we need to rout them b4 we can hug them?

Perhaps the web spell could catch or at least reduce the impact of a catapults missile, though it would be safest to test it first. I'm thinking, if it does work, it should be placed a minimum of 10 feet above the Tasloi, so it doesn't gum them and so it has some allowance for slowing the missiles. If the webbing was nonmagical I wouldn't even consider it, but seeing as it is magical, it may work. If that works + the mud daubing, then we should only have to worry about ground troops (especially) loggers and projectiles. We could perhaps build some sort of barricade which provides the Tasloi cover from projectiles, but has murder holes, or something they could aim through, much like a tank does or at least something like the crenellations on a castle As for the ground units, our best bet would is preventing them from getting close enough to chop down or climb the trees, however we could perhaps have pit traps, snares or web spells set up for them. If they have flyers, that could be an issue.
The MMs seem to have occupied the Warehouse, Devin? So they now have those 2 catapults I wanted to knobble Yeah, the Tasloi now have advantage of high ground and hard cover & poison arrows. They are in a strong position. We now have MM Signals Network and Nubs. It's all under control. King Coal can order the Nubs to lead the flanking attack long b4 the enemy can bring down Tasloi Tree Town. Now we have the Nubs and Signals, approach from the west at the Tasloi is a death trap We need not worry about counterattcks any more until we recuit Lizzies (if & when) which w/ be near Endgame. So our strategic and tactical responses are prepped, drilled and (imho) sound Murder holes w/  be great So would a pit and boiling oil King Coal can now send a Nub to Tasloi as Military Advisors See why I wanted the Nubs so bad? it fixes our Communication problems and we can now delegate to Nub(s)
Bad idea to build barricades or dig pits or cast webs into the trees they would all act as signs that something is going on there its enough that we have pits and traps by the Mongrelmen, we can use plausible deniability for those and blame the Mongrel men, we cant do that if we build barricades around or in trees cause the Tasloi cant do that kind of stuff and even if the Yuan Ti know somethings up we cant waste time doing all this extra building they will soon realize we are the masterminds behind Horan's death and stealing weapons, there is not much the Tasloi can do anyways except be annoying dont even count them as a real threat until proven otherwise   I am working with the assumption that we are outnumbered in the city counting the Mongrelmen Gladiators and Tasloi, We have magic and experience as well as no need for centralized command going for us, we have to move fast before someone takes charge and gets the bad guys organized
It would be a concealed pit, Roxxy. No  barricades.

Many Yuan-Ti started dying shortly after much of our party arrived, chances are someone has already started making connections & plausible deniability was thrown out the window sessions ago. As for the pits, concealed would be the obvious choice. If we were to use the web spell, it has a duration anyway & if it's to be used it would be best to cast during or shortly before the onslaught. Time and possible viewers are certainly factors, though. On the topic of barricades, considering the size of the Tasloi, they could just be piles of sticks maybe with some mud for added integrity, not the most defensible, but better than nothing & not too suspicious, seeing as they live in a treetop village. Also since tend to be fairly lightweight (and require no building in this case), they could be transported to the edge as needed, but kept further in where they are unable to be seen from the ground prior to. Alternatively planks or sticks could otherwise be tied to overhanging branches, with plant fiber cordage to provide them some concealment, these could be kept concealed in the canopy and lowered when needed, and I'm sure the Tasloi have the knowhow and skill for it.
Hi, Devin. I think Web is an awesome AOE control Spell. But is short duration. It's a tactical spell. Not a strategic defense>
The Taslo should sig concealed pits on the approaches just to slow down the enemy till the MMs arrive with King Coal for flanking murder. The pits and trenches are of course concealed, and w/ bunji spikes, poisioned

Pit traps only ever waste the front line anyhow. But they slow enemy advance ... and now they are worried about more bunji ... so advancing slow and watching the ground when they get hit from back and north flank by MMs, Surprise. You thought you'd just fireball the Tasloi but now you are so fucked!  Also Tasloi have advantage of high ground and positioned arrows. Great for archery defense from non-flammable mud daub base. If the enemy tries to scale, boiling oil on their noggins, kick down the ladders.  The Tasloi are strong defensively now, thanks to their Nub advisors. No need to worry any more. It's a kill zone now
