Topsy is taken in by the Gnomes, with a small level of mistrust at first, but this is soon replaced with complete support. You are taken deep underground and into a scryproof laboratory where you are provided with any resource you need. It takes a long time to translate the schema, but eventually you are able to build a creation forge. Try as you might you cannot get it to work. Eventually through much experimentation you are able to discover the two things you are missing. Khyber crystals that bind the souls of the long dead. It appears that the forges transfer the souls to the bodies of the warforged. It only works if the souls are so old that they have lost memory of who they were - they have no memory of another body to cling to. A powerful dragonmark of the maker to transfer the souls successfully. When you report this to your handlers they are disappointed. However they return and report that they have a clue that might help. Apparently Sundry was an agent of the trust. A family of shifters used to smuggle 'corrupted' dragonshards to Sundry who sold them exclusively to Merrix. He had been trying to find out what they were for but it is presumed he was killed when he got too close to the truth. Topsy would try and look at contacting those shifters to see if he could become the buyer for those dragonshards. After that, he would start trying to find someone with the proper dragonmark that could be corrupted or coerced into doing the soul transfer. If, as likely, he is unable to make that work, he would try and find someone who is better able to apply leverage to people to do the work for him. You send a message to your father to look into who has taken over the smuggling of the shards into Sharn. It turns out to be a shifter called Dusty who seems to have taken over Sundry's old shop.
