When (Dungeon) Worlds Collide! LFG For Weekends!

That's right, i'm looking for people who are interested in rocking a Dungeon Worlds game set in the Worlds Collide setting! We'd be playing on the weekends (as i have classes for college/work) at any permissible times for the group, for as long as the group wants to go. Some of you may not be used to these two things, that being the Dungeon Worlds system and the Worlds Collide setting, so i'm going to throw some knowledge at ya (yo!). What IS Dungeon Worlds, and why, as apposed to more well known systems like Pathfinder and D&D? Dungeon Worlds is a heavily narrative, easily understood system for all parties, particularly newer players who are interested in getting into the role play aspect over the math, while still allowing some min-maxing for those who enjoy it, particularly in my game. (i'll explain later) Why am i choosing Dungeon Worlds? Because quiet frankly, having a number of disorders that make math hard for me personally, and being an avid role player, it just seemed like it'd fit like a glove. Not to mention, Dungeons and Dragons has the unfortunate tendency to feel a bit like a surprise pop-quiz sometimes with trying to remember all the bonuses you get from all five of your party members, when and under what conditions. Where does Worlds Collide take place? Worlds Collide is quiet literally set in the real world, my own game taking place slightly in the future (this November) in which a fantastical reality is slowly melding into our own. Rumors of Rougaru prowling the streets of Florida are being whispered around the coffee shops, a Wendigo is threatening a town near Anchorage, a pair of Green Dragons have taken up residence in the Appalachian mountains, a giant Humboldt Squid is ravaging ships in the Gulf of Mexico and leaving no survivors, you get the picture. Now WHY i love this setting so much, in association with the system, is really something. Dungeon Worlds has by and large the easiest weapon/creature creation system possible, allowing me (and you) to quickly whip together the stats for everything from an M16 firing neutralized wyvern tooth rounds and a Golem Heart Iron revolver popping off Chimera Venom coated silver bullets to a tiny pen knife your grandmother gave you last week. How does that NOT sound freaking AWESOME?! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I DO have one stipulation in character creation, and thats that all the parties characters have to be, at least, in the same state, as moving everyone to the same place after Thunder Birds short out Americas power grid would be a bit of a pain, as you could imagine. Other than that, their's zero rules as to who you can be, including races other than human (though you'll start as a human at the beginning of the game). As well as this, Microphones are definitely preferred (i can be VERY verbose in my text when RPing), they aren't necessarily required. Just understand we can talk much faster and move forward quicker than you can most likely type. Unless you have three hands. In which case, Neat!
PM'ed you
Returned fire! :O
A quick refinment to help illuminate what the campaign is about! To your first question, the Worlds Collide setting is neither! The title of the setting might be a bit mis-leading, but strangely apt as it encompasses really what will be occurring. Worlds Collide in this sense is the fantastical world of (general fantasy), slowly merging with our current own, present reality, smart phones and submarines and all, the fat lot of good they'll do you against a twenty ton sand worm in the Mojave desert or a Phoenix in Phoenix! I'm looking forward to setting my game in our modern day every day world, and slowly destroying everything all of you have ever loved and held dear with horrible monsters, plagues, natural catastrophes and gods/deities from mythology and other realms. I look forward to the looks on your faces as Sphinxes ravage Egypt, Werewolves rip their way through Florida, the Jersey Devil goes on a killing spree in the Pine Barrens, etc etc, you get the jest ;p I'm also planning on adding a bit of a Monster Hunter motif to your items to keep you rotten no-good players from blowing away my poor precious innocent Strigoi who only LOOK like they want to suck your blood, but really just wanna smell your new perfume you have on your neck, with RPGs and quick-loading shotguns, by - after the first few encounters- encouraging you to apply bits and pieces of the monsters you've brutally and barbarically slaughtered to your weapons and armor as they gradually loose their effectiveness against higher powered creatures; as well as getting nice little effects of my choosing from them, of course :p As i'm going to be away at Too Many Games (A video game convention where retailers sell their backlog) this weekend attempting to hock my wares to unsuspecting passers by, i'm hoping, provided we garner enough interest, to begin the campaign either next week or the week after.
