Ep17 - Tough things dwell in the dark.

Continuing from last week this weeks episode began with initiative of: Jett, Catsi, Tados, Troll, Bardryn. Jett uses the distraction caused by the bombs he threw to sneak up and attack the prone Troll causing a massive 31dmg. However, due to the Trolls tough skin resistance this was reduce to 15. While Catsi climbs the wall and prepares her move and Tados hurls enchanted insults at the Troll (vicious mockery) to try and deal psychic damage. The Troll though, ignores the mockery and gets up. In a rage it slams the ground causing a violent tremor through the floor that affects Jett and Catsi. Being outside the tremor range, Bardryn runs in with her battleaxes with one successful hit. Hurt from the slam move, Jett retreats to beyond 30ft and uses his bow which misses, while Catsi, who is u nfazed by the tremor sees two lit torches remaining from her makeshift net. She takes one and  crit rolls her DEX to run up to the troll where she jumps on its back and  shoves the torch into the troll's eye partially blinding him. As Tados uses cure wounds on a very hurt Jett, the Troll uses its huge clawed hands to burrow into the ground moving out of sight and leaving a ten foot hole in the ground. While Jett is confused as to where the troll went (PERC7)  Catsi sees the hole and jumps down following the burrow until she comes across the troll 20mtrs in taking the torch out of its eye. She attacks with her ball and chain and uses the rest of movement to leave burrow to safety. As this is happening, Catsi casts heroism at lvl2 on Bardryn and Jett, just in time as the  Troll burrows up from the ground in front of Jett and Tados making one attack on each. The Troll crit rolls the first atck on Jett but misses its  attack on Tados while  Bardryn runs in and attacks with her battleaxes, but they bounce off the troll's tough skin. In combat with the troll, Jett has no option but to attack but though his daggers bounce off the troll's tough skin as  Catsi grabs the second torch from her makeshift net and with a DEX13 shoves the  torch in troll's other eye blinding him. The Troll uses its keen smell and is able to smell the Adventurers near him and uses slam again. All players have to roll a DEX save with Jett and Bardryn saving themselves for half damage, while Catsi and Tados take full damage.  Bardryn, shrugging off the tremor, attacks reducing the troll to 5hp which Jett quickly finishes off with two big attacks. Seeing the big Toll fall, Catsi uses her dagger and rolls a STR16 to cut off the troll's head and bathes in his blood after which she and Jett look over the trolls for loot finding a b one necklace with large black opal jem in centre, bone earrings,  two gold bracelets (one with twisted thorn engraved pattern – other with diamond shape pattern) and two gold rings (one with a green jade gem and the other a red ruby gem). Catsi and Jett break apart the mine tracks wooden support planks and build a pyre around male troll and then female troll before the party m ake their way further down the shaft. They come across two doors and open the door on the left to find three humans – a soldier, nobleman, and noblewoman – in the room. The soldier tells them they have been there for a few hours after being taken captive by the trolls but the female is badly hurt. Tados gives healing to the noblewoman, and a potion to the soldier for later use if she needs it. The soldier asks if the party can lead them back to the campsite; however, the party replies that they need to clear the mine shafts first. They leave the humans in the room as they search the other door, opening it to find four skeletons with shields and swords. Combat is commenced again but with two crit rolls made by Bardryn and the rest making some big hits, the skels were quickly overthrown. They opened the chest finding 600gp, 60sp, two more small bags of the mysterious white powder they found earlier. Continuing on to a third door that Jett saw earlier, Catsi enters the room beyond using her stealth; however it did not meet the passive PERC of the Bergwurm (aka Purple Worm - D&D 5e) within who came bursting out of the ground to her left. Catsi rolled DEX8 reaction to jump onto the wall, barely clambering to hold on, entering into frenzy as she did so. At the sound of the Bergwurm crashing throught the ground, and Catsi calling out, Bardryn runs into the room as initiative is commenced: Cat, Bergwurm, Bardryn, Tados, Jett. As Catsi and Bergwurm have taken their moves, Bardryn makes an attack however, her battleaxe blades bounce off the Bergwurm's tough dragonscale skin. Outside the room, Tados moves to be able to see what is going on, and seeing the large monster hurles vicuous mockery at it, while Jett holds his move. With Catsi out of sight and Bardryn the only being in its sight, the Bergwurm makes bite attack on Bardryn, its gaping razor-sharp teeth filled mouth closing down around the dwarf who is unable to move in time (fails DEX save throw) and is swallowed by Bergwurm the bite from the teeth knocking her unconscious. Cat remembers what she had been told about the Bergwurm by the children and yells at the others to use fire against its face. As uses  his held action to light a torch he throws it, hitting the monster in the face with a shower of sparks and flame. As Jett does this, Catsi  rolls a DEX11 to jump onto Bergwurm's head only just managing to find a handhold. In a franzy, she attacks with her dagger hitting Bergwurm's eye and partially blinding it. Due to the damage caused it by Jett and Catsi the Bergwurm fails its CAN save and vomits Bardryn out in a flood of green and black fluid; however, it turns its bite attack on Jett who fails his DEX save and is also swallowed. While Bardryn lies prone and unconscious on the ground (succeeding her first death save)  Catsi rolls a DEX (Acrobatic) save to stay on the Bergwurm where she crit rolls her attack to pierce other eye fully blinding the monster as she did with the troll. The Bergwurm thrashes about, ignoring Tados' next  vicious mockery attack but is unable to withstand Jett's attack from inside it and Jett is vommitted out covered in green and black fluid. Now blind, the Bergwurm burrows through wall to save itself with Catsi still on its head. Seeing that the Bergwurm is going to run her into the wall, Cat rolls DEX (acrobatic) 22 to jump off safely. As she lands she quickly grabs Bardryn and pushes Jett out of the room, slamming the door behind her. With a serverly hurt Elf and an unconscious dward, the party returns to the humans where they heal and the episode is ended!
