During their short rest in the ancient mess hall, Halle , Varis , Titus , and Naivara deliberated on whether they would go down the passage marked " Danger ", the passage marked " ?Danger ", or the passage with no markings. Based on their experiences in the Tomb of Diderius so far they decided on the passage with no markings. After resting, Naivara left the three of them to continue on without her as she went back outside, where Rhogar was. The unmarked passage led to a room with a large, nearly empty divining pool. The bodies of several cultists lay scattered around the pool amid signs of an ambush. Examining the bodies revealed one of the dead was a Dwarf named Barnabs Stonemane, a person who the group remembered Naivara was searching for. He had a journal hidden on his body written in some sort of code. He had been killed by a poison dagger rather than the arrows of the battle. They dragged his body away from the evaporating pool down to the corner of the room. It was clear the ambush came from the area of Diderius' final resting place. As the group cautiously entered, they were warned by the voice of Diderius himself to touch nothing and be respectful. He told them he knew why they were there, and that they would find Varram the White had been captured by the Yuan-Ti through the secret passage he would open for them. With a soft chime, a secret door to the north slid open, revealing Lizardman guards caught by surprise. The battle went quickly due to a fireball from Varis. One survivor fled deeper into the humid tunnels and made a final stand on a slippery stone bridge with more Lizardman guards and some Yuan-Ti Malisons. Crossing the bridge to fight was treacherous, and Titus fell into the pit below where swarms of ferocious snakes - Yuan-Ti young - were eager to feed. A quick use of magic kept the young at bay as the injured Titus slowly climbed back up. Varis and Halle finished defeating the bridge defenders, then Halle helped Titus climb the rest of the way up while Varis carefully crossed the slippery bridge with Furgus' help. When the tunnels leveled out the group decided to press on carefully, and though their stealth allowd them to slip past an alerted Yuan-Ti Abomination and its Pureblood servents, another passing company of Lizardmen led by Malisons spotted them in a side-tunnel. A deadly fight broke out which drew defenders from all around, including the ones they slipped past earlier. The Yuan-Ti quickly learned their Suggestions seemed to be innefective against these three, as Torm's protection extended from Titus to his nearby allies. During the melee Titus and Varis managed to turn the Lizardmen against their Yuan-Ti oppressors through the use of some impromptu illusion magic and (mis)communications. In the brief chaos among their enemies which followed, the three took a moment to wonder why they were fighting all these Yuan-Ti - weren't they in this tomb to chase cultists? One Yuan-Ti Pureblood fled the combat when it turned against them and ran deeper into the complex of tunnels. Halle, Titus, and Varis defeated the remainder of the group around them, including the Abyssal-speaking Yuan-Ti Abomination which had towered over them. When only one Yuan-Ti Pureblood remained, she assessed the situation and ssurrendered herself to them. Taking a chance, the group entered a side-chamber which turned out to be the Lizardmen's squalid quarters. It was currently empty, so they retreated inside with their captive to figure out their next move... At game start it is still 21 Nightal in the Year of the Warrior Princess .
