Question for dice-macro

Hi :) I'm new to the site and to the world of virtual table-top in general. Add to that my inability to write macros and you have my current situation ^^ I'm looking for a way to roll 3d6 and keep the lowest AND the highest roll (or drop the middle one if you will). It should look kinda like "you roll 3d6 and get 1,4,6 -> you keep 1 and 6 (7 in total)" If you "crit" with this system, you roll a triplet of a number, for example you roll a tripple 4 and get 12 in total (you dont drop anything because of the triplet). I've been looking through some posts, been staring at my screen, enjoying the buzzing sound in my head, and now lay myself humbly at the feet of anyone, who is able and willing to help me with this, probably easy, but for me huge task of a macro. And yeah, i know i could just /r 3d6 and count the highest and lowest number by myself, but hey, what are macros for, right :) ?

I believe you're going to need the API (a Pro Sub feature) to accomplish this. The Dice Reference page talks about keeping highest and keeping lowest, but there's nothing for drop the middle. I tried combing the two but that doesn't work. As for the critical when all three dice are the same...that would definitely require the API; there might be a way to do this with roll templates, but that would require a custom sheet to implement. What game system is this? Perhaps there's already a character sheet that handles this sort of thing for you...?
Thanks for your reply, I feared I would need the Pro Sub :) It's from a game system I wrote. I started Pen&Paper RPGs way back as a kid and created my own when I was 15 - I think. Rolling 3d6 and keeping highest and lowest has some kind of nice "chaos" element to it, can't really explain it better ^^ Today, 18 years later, I still tweak the game (having re-written it for the 13599th time because I wanted to implement some "new cool feature" -.-'), but the 3d6-roll remains my "thing". Well, thanks again for you effort. I guess I will just do a /roll 3d6 command and add the lowest and highest roll by myself :)

To make that easiest you could also sort the dice, that way, the lowest is always on the left and the highest is always on the right... /r 3d6s
Good idea, thank you
