Weekly Gaming Summary #38: (11/28/20)

Paladin Knight – Half Elf - Genry - Hermit8     Game Summary for Saturday (11/28/2020): [Note: An old glitch has returned on Roll20 where player’s input lines and attack macros no longer show in the chat archive. So I do my best at piecing together what happened.]   Opening Scene: Day 20 : June 21 st (first day of summer); 6:30 am   The party has just dealt with 3 harpies as they walked up the winding pathway with rough-hewn stairs, to the top of the plateau that the lighthouse sits upon. The sea elf banshee Miraal, could not come along with them as she can’t travel far from where her body died. She wants the party to find an opalescent sea conch that belonged to her as well as defeat the evil creatures that dwell within the lighthouse.   At the top of the stairs, a rocky plateau spreads out some 80 feet above the water. Iron bound wooden double doors, lead into the lighthouse and have rusty iron hinges and handles, as well as decorative lightning bolts carved into them.    Xar’Tharkas, opens the unlocked doors into a foyer area. This 15-foot-high room appears to be empty. Through a dirty window in the south wall, the adventurers can see two ships’ masts jutting crookedly from the water. There is a double door in the north west side of the foyer and a single door in the south east side.   Xar’Tharkas moved to the SE door but then decides to open the NW double doors first.   The doors open into the base of the lighthouse tower itself. A spiral staircase with an ornate stone railing climbs up the inside wall of this round stone tower. There is a staircase landing 20 feet up. There is a wooden door 6 ft from the stairwell in the north east corner.   Xar’Tharkas, opens the NE door into a 15-foot-high room that has two north-facing windows. A barnacle-encrusted chair stands against the south wall. Sitting in the chair is Moesko, an anchorite of Talos, whom is clad in armor made from octopus hide. Resting in his lap is an opalescent conch.   As Xar’Tharkas moves towards the windows he is stopped by two more Anchorites . He makes an about face saying “Sorry”, then leaves the room closing the door behind him.  The Anchorites do no pursue but chuckling can be heard.   Xar’Tharkas, mentions to the party about the windows and that someone could go around and break through them to have an entrance into the room besides the one door.   Xar’Tharkas, then moves to the south east door in the foyer and opens the unlocked door. Inside this room, the walls are 15 ft high and are adorned with frescoes that depict ships being tossed on stormy seas, with a dark and terrible god looming above them and smiling. Set into the west wall is a dirty, salt-encrusted window. A stone altar with lightning bolts carved into it stands against the south wall. A metal rod descends from the ceiling above the altar, splitting in two before it embeds itself into the stone. There is a window in the north west wall and a single wooden door in the south east wall to the east of the altar.   Xar’Tharkas, immediately recognized the god depicted to be that of Talos. He then moves to the SE and opens the unlocked door, which opens to the outside.   There is a ledge here, enclosed by a 3-foot-high stone retaining wall. There is what looks like a huge nest here, lined with rotten vegetatation and bones. The harpies where seen to come from this area when they flew over to attack the party.   The nest is searched and a vial is found inside of it, filled with liquid. After that the nest is heaved up over the ledge and dropped into the sea 80 ft below. From the ledge the cliff sides vary downwards from  15 to 30 ft outwards as they incline down into water , with the 15 ft being the steepest drop down.   Curious as to what is inside, Xar’Tharkus, opens the vial and sees the liquid is a cloudy green fluid that smells of the sea and has a jellyfish-like bubble floating in it. He closes it back up and places it into a pocket.   Dolores has gone out the foyer’s double doors to the north side of the light house where the two windows into the room with the Anchorites are. Xar’Tharkas’ Time Echo tries for the farther out window, rolling a dexterity check to get over to it due to the steep drop off the ledge. Another dexterity check is made to see if he got a foot hold to be able to peer into the window and it was also successful.   Both Dolores and Xar’s Time Echo sees the two guards  by the door and Moesko still sitting in his chair.   Dolores casts the Sleep spell and backs away without check to see if it worked. The guards both managed to shake off the effects of the spell and are now aware that something was trying to affect them and are looking about to see where it came from.   Xar’Tharkus and Dolores smashes open the windows they are at, Xar’s Glaive hits Anchorite #01 in the process,  as Roqar, tries to bash in the now barred door .   Combat Round #01 Begins: Farren, tries to bash open the door but could not.   Dolores, backs away from the window she broke open.   Moesko, stays put.   Sildar Hallwinter, could not bash open the door.   Xar’Tharkus, changes places with his time echo, (magical ability) and throws axe, hitting Moesko for 8 slashing damage!   Anchorite #01 stays put.   Willie, finally gets the door busted open and slashes an Anchorite with his magical Talon long sword for 8 damage! Falcon the Hunter, slashes an Anchorite with the long sword!   Rogar, tumbles past Falcon to get inside the door.     Round #02 of Combat! Farren, moves to the door.   Anchorite #02, slashed someone with his clawed gauntlet!   Dolores, stays put.   Moesko, missed his target.   Sildar, stays put.   Xar’Tharkas, climbs through the window now after a successful dexterity check.   Anchorite #01 hit his target with the clawed gauntlet.   Galdor, missed his target!   Willie, slashes his target with the talon long sword!   Falcon, missed his target with his long sword!   Roqar, hits her target!
Round #03 of Combat! Farren, stays put.   Anchorite #02, missed his target!   Dolores, stays put.   Moesko, hits his target with the clawed gauntlets!   Sildar, stays put.   Xar’Tharkas, grapples an Anchorite, but the Time Echo fails to do so!   Anchorite #01, hits Willie with the clawed gauntlets!   Willie, scores a hit with the Talon long sword on an Anchorite!   Falcon, scored a hit with his long sword on an Anchorite!   Roqar, stabs an Anchorite with her dagger for 6 damage!     Round #04 of Combat! Farren, stays put.   Anchorite #02, breaks free of Xar’Tharkas’ grapple!   Dolores, cast, (likely a fire bolt) cantrip which hit falcon instead of the Anchorite for 6 damage!   Moesko, missed his target!   Sildar, stays put.   Xar’Tharkas,  missed Anchorite #02 while the Time Echo hits him for 9 damage, with the great sword!   Anchorite #01, hits Willie for 7 damage with the clawed guauntlets!   Armanuk, bashes through the south wall!   Galdor, hits an anchorite with his warhammer!   Willie, slashes Anchorite #01 with the Talon long sword, defeating him!   Falcon, hits an Anchorite with his long sword!   Roqar, hits an Anchorite for 3+9 sneak attack damage, with her dagger!     Round #05 of Combat! Farren, enters the room and attacks with fists (unarmed strike), hitting an Anchorite!   Anchorite #02, missed Xar’Tharkas, with the clawed gauntlets!   Sildar, stays back.   Both Xar’Tharkas and his Time Echo score hits with the great sword on Anchorite #o2!   Armanuk, scores a raged great axe hit on Moesko, hitting for 7 damage!   Galdor, got knocked back from Moesko being pushed into him, by Armanuk!
Round #06 of Combat! Seems several turns are missing during this round as it skips all the way down to Willie’s turn!   Willie, hits Anchorite #02, with the Talon long sword, and defeats him!   Falcon, missed Moesko, with his long sword!   Roqar, stabs Moesko, with her dagger, defeating him!   End of Combat!     Searching the bodies, finds that Moesko is indeed wearing octopus hide armor and has a hole in his chest cavity where his heart should be! The conch is resting on the barnacled chair. The other two Anchorites wear hide armor.  Nothing more of any value is found.   Xar’Tharkas’s Time Echo, pulls out the vial he found and decides to drink half the bottle down.  He winds up gasping for air as he can no longer breathe.  The Time Echo then gulps down the rest of the magical potion, This results in him now sprouting gills on his neck and still unable to breath so he runs outside and jumps off the ledge into the water below!   The Time Echo tries to communicate with a shark in the water, and certainly got it’s full attention as it swims swiftly towards him!   Combat Round #01! Xar’s Time Echo, missed the shark!   The Shark bites the Time Echo and he winks out of existence for now!   Back up in the lighthouse tower now the party goes up the 1 st flight of stairs, revealing a wooden door on the landing and another flight of stairs going up 6 ft past it.   That door is skipped over for now, as the party climbs the 2 nd flight of stairs which now enters into the top of the light house tower.   The pinnacle of the lighthouse beacon is partly open to the elements and surrounded by a narrow walkway topped by an iron railing. Three open archways allow the beacon’s pulsating green light to spill westward over the sea.    Roqar, has a look at the green light only to be blinded for a minute by it!   After Roqar, recovers they go back down to the 2 nd floor and open it’s door onto a rooftop.   From this vantage point, the adventurers can see the shattered masts of the five shipwrecks west of the lighthouse. Enclosing the rooftop is a 1-foot-high stone wall with a 2-feet-high iron railing atop it. A similar railing circles the walkway of the lighthouse beacon, which is 20 feet above this area. A 10-foot-tall, wrought-iron lightning rod reaches toward the sky in the south end of this area!   And this ends the gaming session for the day, until next time!   It is now June  21 st (first day of summer) at 7:30 am.   The Adventurers’ Experience Points Earned This Session: Anchorites of Talos (3):  3 * 700 = 2,100 XP   2,100 / 7 =  300 XP each ----------   Grand Total Experience Points:   Everyone is at 5,170.67 XP  Level 5 reached at 6,500 XP!   Loot Found: Opalescent conch Octopus hide armor / regular hide armor and clawed gauntlets Potion of Water Breathing (Used by Xar’Tharkas’s Time Echo)   Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 47 th Session for “Lost Mines of Phandelver / Dragon of Icespire Peak” 11/28/2020 [1st Session start was 08/15/2019]
