Hello! My name is Nick. A bit about me is that I'm 36, work as a freelance artist for indie video games and animation. I love D&D and am currently looking to join a group for a 5e campaign on Friday nights preferably after 8 pm EST. I love animation and cartoons, as well as story-driven narratives and lean heavily into the character driven aspects of D&D storytelling. What I look for in games: I love games that take the character driven aspects and dial them up significantly. I want my character to become part of the world, working with the DM to incorporate my backstory into the larger narrative being written. Character creation is my favorite aspect (makes sense as I am a freelance character designer) and you can always expect me to try and design a unique and memorable character. I also look for games that can balance roleplay with combat and exploration, as I think pacing is the sign of a good DM, one who understands the nuance for when things tend to drag and need to be spiced up to keep player attention. I do not like too many house rules as I feel WotC does a great job designing the game, and their rules tend to make for a fun experience. That's not to say this is a deal breaker, but I have had too many campaigns where the house rules straight up destroy the integrity of player specs and choices simply because the DM wants to break something from the base game that they dislike. Lastly, I try to be respectful and polite as well as inclusive. I try to get along with everyone and understand that this is just a game, and to keep things in character and out of character separate. I want a place where players feel comfortable role-playing what they like, but will also not shy away from some of the more delicate subjects with understanding that things like that pertain to the game world itself, and not the players. (ie. Elves and Dwarves being racist against each other is a gaming trope and does not equate to being racist to a player at the table). All in all, I am looking for a group (adults only please) that wants to have a good time telling collaborative stories, where the narrative amplifies the combat, and vice versa. I love Critical Role and strive to play my characters in that vein. Thanks for reading, and please drop a line or send a direct message if you think I'd be a good fit for your game! - Nick
