[DND 5E]Any group that I could join to teach me the game? I know nothing

I heard I could join a group in roll20 and there would be groups that would take someone like me who has no idea on how to play. Couldn't find any of these groups though. Also, all the locals next to me are closed down due to covid. So, I'm posting this now to see if anyone on here is willing to make a group and teach me how to play? And also what would I need to start playing on roll20 or another online tabletop?

I am also looking for a group. I have d&d experience, just not in 5e. Is be interested in joining a group with you and trying to get something started.  Edit: I would also be willing to learn the game and DM if need be.

Hey Danny, the groups I DM for are full so I can’t offer you a group - however, I do have a bit of spare time over this holiday season and love to share the hobby with new players, so would be happy to chat for a couple of hours to take you through the basics of D&D 5e and Roll20, and hopefully get you feeling more confident about signing up for a group. I’m looking to join a beginner group too.  Never played before but looking to try it out.  Honestly a bit intimidated :p I’m in a +5 GMT time zone but hopefully can work something out on weekends.

Did you guys manage to start a session? How’d it go? 

Baloo said hes working on getting the group together so i hope soon just waiting on him to let me know

think if we got a discord going where we could all talk and figure it out we could get a good group going, but i dont know what Baloo plans are 

It’s ironic how difficult it is to find a group that matches ones time zone and day with so many passionate players around :p I almost found a group but the time difference meant I’d be starting the campaign at 5am on a Thursday lol yet I have that option shortlisted, incase I can’t find anything else

well that plan fell threw unless we find another DM

i might be able to run somthing for you. i can talk you through how to play DnD and run tutorial sessins for practical experience. everything i run is 100% free and my timezone is GMT, if your interested please let me know via roll20 or discord at goldgyrobolt#7163 and we can try to work somthing out.

@chris c. i dont know about everyone else, but i know most the basics how to play bc i play in another group, but just thought it would be fun for an all new group to start up so we could learn together in a campaign

fair enough, i must have misunderstood the original post. if the group would prefer jumping straight into a campaign i can also do that.

I don't know if you guys still have room in your group or not. But I am a newbie in the GMT timezone and I would be interested in joining you guys if you have the room.

Joined! :D good times for me are Friday GMT 6 - 9pm, Saturday GMT 6 - 10/11 pm or Sunday GMT 10am - 2pm. I’ll be making my first character today using the builder on the d&d beyond website.  A mysterious and quiet tiefling warlock called orkoh :)  

Starting an hour earlier on all those times would be ok as well if that helps anyone.
