New to DMing on Roll20. Updated Dynamic Lighting or old Advanced Fog of War?

So I'm relatively new to the DM side of roll20 and recently I tried to use UDL for the first time (I'd never used Advanced Fog of War up until this point either). It took a long time to set up all the walls on the DL layer but I was pumped to use such an awesome system. When my players loaded in 2 out of 5 of them could see the entire map, including all info and tokens that was supposed to be hidden behind DL lines from their perspective. I had to scrap the entire UDL system and use old fashioned simple Fog of War, which was pretty disheartening. Plus it kind of spoiled a large part of the dungeon. Since then I haven't touched UDL or AFoW with a ten foot pole. I want to try it again so I prepared a new map, but experienced several bugs when testing UDL, such as the token's vision seemingly just switching off randomly. In my frustration I tried the old AFoW system expecting it to be just as bad. To my surprise it was as smooth as butter, and I didn't experience any lag. I browsed reddit and found that some people feel like AFoW is rusty but trusty, and UDL doesn't bring anything new to the table. I guess I'm asking which should I use? Is there a benefit to UDL that I'm not seeing? Any tips on how to use AFoW or UDL effectively? I'm not looking for a rant at the devs about this or that, I just want what's best for my game. Thanks!

Some people are starting to use UDL, but many keep to LDL which is more stable. I've heard of cases where people have better performance or overall like UDL better, but they are still not in the majority. You can check in with UDL after major updates, to it and see how it works, so you have an idea where it is for you.
