adventurers leave Thundertree with
Reidoth the druid, as their guide, heading for
Cragmaw castle which is said to be veiled by a powerful disorienting
spell, that helps keeps the place invisible to outsiders. At first they head
towards Falcon’s hunters lodge as he and his two companions are going to split
with the group and spy on the lodge now occupied by the Anchorites of Talos and
a giant boar the size of an elephant. Along
the way they are attacked by two gricks! Initiative rolls are made and Combat

, missed Grick #01 with her dagger! Falcon,
slashed Grick #01 for 8 damage, defeating the creature! End
of Combat! The
adventure party continues onwards until they reach a spot about a mile and a
half away from the lodge. A spot the adventurers are to return to once they are
done with Cragmaw castle, to help Falcon try and get back the lodge. From
there Falcon intends to spy on the hunters’ lodge to gauge their numbers and
where the go. The
group now turns southwards heading towards the old manor where the paladin’s
family was slain by a white dragon long ago and encounter the same owlbear they
once encountered before and Willie tries first to talk to it without success,
while Dolores hides behind a tree, It is
Reidoth that tries and succeeds in
convincing it to not attack the party as they are looking for the goblins,
hobgoblins and orcs in the woods. The
owlbear, lets them go, though the lizardman, When the wizard, looks tasty to
him. Dolores, quips, “You could eat the lizard but only after you get the
goblins and orcs.” They
continue onward, passing by the paladin Taris Havenfall’s old manor and finally
reaching a spot in the Neverwinter woods where the Cragmaw castle should be
visible but is not, it simply appears to be woods stretching out for miles. So,
Reidoth does some magics and tells you to follow him and as they travel they
suddenly feel a sense of disorientation when suddenly up ahead, the ruined
castle they seek becomes visible. They
are approaching the rear of the castle where they see two spots where it is
caved in on it’ s north west side and and it’s north side just left of center.
The castle consists of seven crumbling towers of different sizes and heights,
but the upper stories are all in varying states of collapse. Arrow slits in the
castle walls are 10 ft above the outside ground level. The
party begins to try and quietly sneak around, but Wilie and Roqar fail to do
so. A
Spider Climb spell is casted upon Roqar by Dolores, using a drop of bitumen and
a spider as components, and she attempts to climb up the east side’s north corner tower. The spell
will last one hour or until the climber ceases concentration. Meanwhile,
Farren, tries to look for another way in or anything out of the ordinary but
could not find anything. Roqar
rolls a dexterity check for climbing due to lose stones and does not lose her
grip on the way up, (Instead of deciding on a dice check level I was thinking
of the roll being your dexterity score or less, like in AD&D, opps!, Also,
since you were spider climbing only one limb would have slipped.) Roqar
climbs over the 5 feet of battlement at the top of the tower which rises 35
feet up, not counting the battlement. Meanwhile
as roqar was climbing the tower, Farren has managed to climb the rubble on the
west side of the north wall of the castle and peers over it to spot a room with
four hobgoblins: Four plain straw
pallets and bedrolls are lined up on the floor of this barracks. Brackets on
the walls hold a number of weapons—spears, swords, morningstars, and more. The
north wall shows signs of damage, but the floor is swept clean of rubble. Farren
sees one hobgoblin resting on a straw mat the rest are just lounging around.
The north wall is the section of wall he is peering over into the room from. Farren
then quietly climbs back down successfully and heads over to where Roqar
climbed the tower. Roqar, after tying the rope to a machicolation, lowers a rope down to the
party so they can climb up the rubble easier.
Dolores, When the wizard, and Farren all made the climb up the tower. Then
she has a look around to see that there is a cave in on the north west side of
the tower where the floor below is visible, not seeing a trap door up here it
probably was where the cave in is now. She climbs down successfully to the
lower floor then sees a large tiled tub and a door on an east wall and grabs her thieve’s tools but after trying
the handle it opens slightly and she then hears a conversation in the room, a
voice demanding payment (male) for something and a silky smooth reply (female).
This is said in the Common tongue. When
was attempting to quietly come down into the room from above but could not do so stealthly and this was
heard by the wolf inside the room who then is heard to bark and snarl, as the
conversation in the room suddenly comes to a stop, when Roqar just walks right
on inside after that. This
chamber has been set up as a crude living space, with thick furs thrown on the
floor to serve as carpets, old trophies hanging on the walls, a large bed to
the north, and a brazier of coals burning brightly. A round table with several
chairs stands to the south near the door. Near the table, on the floor, is an
unconscious dwarf who looks badly beaten. The
first words out of Roqar’s mouth is to the drow elf maiden in the room, “Die
Dark Bitch!!” Dolores,
thinks to herself, “Wow, Chill.”, Farren says, “Easy there Roqar, tone down the
bloodlust.” King
Grol, the bugbear simply growls at at Roqar and grabs his weapon. Vyerith the
drow also draws her weapon. Combat
Round #01: Dolores
walks in next firing off a Hold Person spell upon Vyerith whom fails her wisdom
saving throw, holding her in place for up to a minute so long as Dolores
concentrates. Willie,
charges in lunging for Snarl the pet wolf, slashing it for 9 damage with the
magical Talon long sword! Sildar,
watches for guards coming in the other direction.
Farren,
missed King Grol with his short sword then uses his Ki to make his flurry of
blows move. One fist hits for 13 bludgeoning damage the other missed!
