10 Highsun Cathal's sister, though I do not enjoy her company, has decided to join us as we return to the mines where he died. I suppose that is her right, and I will not prevent her from properly mourning her brother's death, though I will not tolerate a single other word against his memory or death. This swamp is making me question my own abilities. When I used to roam the high-walled paths of the Labyrinth, I would not have thought twice as to how I could find my way home. Now, in this misty, damp bog, I find myself going astray, putting my charges at risk. I must learn to do better. 11 Highsun Again with this infernal camp! It's as if the Gods are telling us the work here is not yet done, but I see nothing more here but carrion feeders. At least we ended up somewhere familiar, the mine's shouldn't take too long to reach,. The others reassure me that the diversion is of no consequence, yet I feel my failures weighing on my shoulders. Teres' eye is impressive, sharp as an arrow even in this mist, able to pick out more mysterious monuments, and other landmarks to consider investigating in the future. We briefly stopped by one to investigate, finding it under the guard of fearsome-looking skeletal guardians. It was a tall pillar, covered in what appeared to be crawling skeletons, confirmed when one slid off and joined the death march around its prior holding place. I was too distracted by the glowing bugs around here to pay much more mind to it than that. The night brought a reminder of our mission ahead; an attack by more of these infernal beasts. Our healers pulled their weight tonight, and I'm thankful for them, as I am for the rest of our group. Cathal's sister, Eybynn Aybin Aoibhinn showed her mettle and fought with us of her own initiative. Perhaps I should speak up and mend the bridge my anger saw to chopping into... 12 Highsun We encountered a hunting party of some of the locals out here, against a truly huge beast of a crocodile. I hope they are not all this big out here... It was strong enough to fell two hunters in single strikes, but our group efforts put it down. After some words exchanged, we were able to agree on taking some food and leaving the rest to the hunters. The mine's brought out its hellish guards to greet us, when I burned down their webbing to get back through the front gate. Dispatching them was easier this time around, the group staying together throughout, with Teres providing covering fire from a tower. Within, my eyes were poorly accustomed to the gloom, and I relied heavily on Drago and Alexandria to not get lost. We hit the end of the path sooner than I hoped, and most of us were forced to wade, with Teres and Uhklah riding an abandoned canoe. One scarcely needs to wonder why it was at this end of the water, the paddle missing after likely being used as a weapon to see whoever escaped out the final stretch of the mine. We rescued some bear-like man from frogs, who joined us onwards. Those mines were nearly my grave this day, but was revived by my fellows. I will have to repay them with drink when we return to Hope. * to be continued*
