Artemis will journey back to Borin's Folly with Sairina - if she'll accept his "magical" aid...?
Hmmm, either Jizo or Seonbi would want to go.  Jizo mostly since they did not travel that far west because of the previous adventure was cut short.
I think Jizo will be out on the Fizzbang quest
Sonnet jumping in on this, if y'all don't mind ^^
Fergal is keen to help retaking the forge
If y'all are good with a noob, I'll join you with a Level 1 Wood Elf Monk named Furious :)
Notes from the Frontier 10 Highsun Sairina ’s put together quite the ragtag group to head back to Borin’s Folly. Most of the previous party have returned, although there’s no sign of Jäger or Druv. They’re replaced by Furious and Sonnet . The elf looks a formidable skirmisher, as quick with his fists as he is fleet of foot! Sonnet is a truly interesting person - I’d heard about Kenku but never thought I’d meet or “talk” with one. She understands everything and has an amazing knack for mimicking our speech. Unfortunately, it is tough to know more about her but she is here, and she is alone. I will watch over her. We’re in Fergal ’s hands again for navigation - I feel sure he’ll get us to the village without much fuss 11 Highsun It seems I cannot get a night’s peace in this swampland! Another ambush in the night by something Seonbi called Meenlocks. One minute I’m sleeping and the next, my tent is invaded by one of the foul creatures. Luckily Sairina was on hand to rescue me - her skill with a blade almost matches Alexandria’s! The thing wasn’t scared by the word of Bahamut but it was surely beaten back by Sairina ’s blade! She also dragged me out of the tent, which took almost as much of a beating as I did! The party seemed to be handling the other creatures but I admit I was a little blinded by the blood from the gash to face. After it was over, I tried to heal it but I never was much more than a functional healer and I fear the wound was not closed well. Sairina says I have a cool looking scar… she’s truly a good leader to try and keep my spirits up like this. Meanwhile, Sonnet had mended the tent so it was as good as new! I was right about Furious ! Apparently he was suitably deadly in combat slaying at least one of them and rescuing Seonbi who suffered almost as much as I did… Seemed to spot a mausoleum off the road. Seonbi has it mapped and I think it’s best to give it a wide berth for now - probably the same as the one that group who returned said was dangerous and I see no need to disturb the dead without cause… Settling in for the night, I’m wary of the fact there seems to be a basilisk (or many of them) in the area. The “statue” we came across attests to the danger we face. I’m going to try and sleep but I fear that may not be possible… 12 Highsun Finally, an undisturbed night! We’ll push on to the village now, it is only a short distance even if we’re looping around to avoid the potential basilisk threat - Fergal seems sure of his path!   Our entry to the village revealed more of the zombie foes we had encountered in our first visit. The brave, yet slightly foolish, Furious charged headlong into combat within range of many undead, while the brave, yet even more foolish, Fergal ran off alone to try and flank them. Spotting the peril Furious now faced, Sonnet weaved some sort of magic to help him. Things turned sour quickly though and we were thankful to the awesome power of Bahamut for turning many of the undead filth away and enabling the healing of Furious . We beat them back and managed to rescue Fergal who had stumbled into trouble - Alexandria always quotes to me “never split the party” and it’s clear to see this is one valuable thing she managed to learn! We’re going to rest before we try to breach the Forge below - I worry about what might be down there, Borin is a stout fellow and he was overrun here… 13 Highsun We return to Hope now. Our entry to the Forge immediately saw us accosted by fire wolves, fire newts, and a magma mephit! Fergal charged in partially but was then nearly overwhelmed immediately by the fire wolves before Sonnet and Sairina could come to his aid. Furious and Seonbi aided with ranged attacks but this was a fight we could not hope to win. The mephit hitting Sairina with accursed heating of her armour. I managed to heal the unconscious Furious and get him to safety while the others retreated (eventually)… I know this may vex our fearless leader, but I’ll beseech Sairina that we return here better prepared next time!
Hey father, me again. Not that you'll be reading these until I eventually come back for a while. A long road back We've decided to investigate that forge (as we've called it) a bit further but first we had to get there after few days of preparations and recovery. This time it was my duty for the whole way to get us there safely and not getting us lost in the wilderness. I smashed it obviously! Not that following straight stone road surrounded by swaps is hard or anything but yeah... Our party has changed a little bit because everyone has their own business here so it's not something unusual. As I've mentioned, I was assigned with duty of leading the way while Seonbi was looking for details that he may have missed last time to mark them on the map. For the whole time Artemis ' eagle eye was focused on noticing whatever could've be stupid enough to try to deal with us and to top it of Sairina with two newcomers - Sonnet and Furious were looking for additional supplies for there's no such thing as too much of food or water. Day was successful. We've spotted graveyard we missed before due to mist restricting our vision range, got some food and water which made awesome meal prepared by Furious . Night raid of the shadows Obviously it weas too perfect to be true and we got woken up by our companions that were keeping a watch at the moment. We got attacked by two shadowy figures with strange terrifying aura surrounding them. We've dealt with them pretty quickly. unfortunetly Artemis' deep sleep lead to him receiving a nasty scar across the face (it looks kinda cool tbh) and destruction of his tent. He looked pretty broke down because of that so Sonnet used this moment to shine with her skills and repaired it beatifuly. We got back to sleep because we still had quite a distance to cover. A little bit too extremly realistic looking statue Next day was unevetful as well... Until we've stumbled upong a strange figure with it's bow drawn on the middle of the road. Reasonable arguments were not enough to make the figure put the weapon down. And as we've found out it wasn't the only thing that was too late for it. The creature appeared to be petrified lizardfolk which I've decided to use to potentially scare potential attackers to let us sleep peacefuly for once. I don't know if it's beccause of my bright idea but we had a lovly night uninterrupted and rested like never before. Next to the place where we've found the statue, we've also found multiple tracks of other of archer's kind and we also assumed this statue is basilisk's doing so we've decided to approach our destination from different direction to not put our mission in danger. Through the fire, flames and the rotten flesh Sairina , Furious and myself split up to scout ahead and it wasn't long before Sairina alarmed that we have company i didn't get to see much of their fight as I went for a different approach trying to flank them. Unfortunetly I was stopped in my tracks by two corpses, one of which was on fire. After some arrows being shot, spells casted and weapon swings we've put an end to those poor souls and let them free to rest for eternity. We've baricaded ourselves in one of the buildings and patched up before going down into the so called forge. Right after we've clibed down the ladder we got attacked by beasts made entirely from fire. I've pushed forward, swinged once at the first attacker and took defensive stance when approached by another two flaming creatures. Not gonna lie, they may have been squishy but they were hiting like a wagon if you didn't pay attention for a split second. Overwhelmed by the speed of attacks we've quickly decided to fall back and reconsider different approach. i've stood my ground until every single one of my companions climbed the ladder. After covering the last one which was our lovely leader, I made last swing to get some distance and rushed to the others. Sairina 's armor was still red hot when we got away but Seonbi quickly colled it down with his glorious magic. We may have underestimated the conditions we're supposed to operate in if we want to take care of that thing to the end. We're retreating for a bit to reconsider our approach. Gonna notice you when we decide and proceed to solving the problem properly prepared.
The evening Sairina and her party return to town, Sairina gathers a group of any adventurers who will listen near the fire to tell the tales of their return to Borin's Folly. The first day started out easy enough. We had a few new faces, Furious the elf monk, and Sonnet the kenku bard. This day was a bit clearer than the last time, and we were actually able to see the mountains to the north, and a large forest to the South. I believe I've heard it called the Hagwood. We were also able to see that large bowl of earth with a graveyard in the swamp that many of you have mentioned too. I can't believe we missed it last time, but like I said, it was really misty. That night Furious made the most delicious meal of frog I've ever had in my life. Seriously, I've done my fair bit of adventuring and this is the best camp meal I've ever had. So if you're looking for a good cook on your next trip, be sure to ask him to come along. While the day was fairly uneventful, that night was another matter. As I was meditating in my tent, I heard the sound of screams and shouts coming from outside. I burst out to find two frightening creatures attacking my companions. Clad in nothing but my meditation garb, I began pinging arrows at them. However, one managed to teleport INSIDE Artemis' tent! I immediately ran inside the tent, standing over Artemis who was still in his bedroll. I battled the creature inside the tent, and the nasty thing nearly destroyed it in the process trying to get away from me since I was blocking the entrance. Thankfully Sonnet was able to repair it. Unfortunately, we weren't able to repair Artemis' face... I'm sure you've seen the scar already. Sairina nods her head towards Artemis eating dinner on the other side of the room The next morning these nightmarish creatures, I believe Seonbi said they're called "Meanlocks", melted into a pile of goop that smelled like burnt hair. Honestly, I've never seen anything like it in my life. But, of course we continued on. The next day we passed right by that graveyard swamp bowl when we spotted a lizard folk in the road with its bow drawn! However, the closer we looked the more we realized it was not moving, and his coloring was grey, which was a bit strange. We then realized he was a STONE STATUE right in the middle of the road!! Now, we all know what this means. There's a basilisk about! Later when we checked for tracks, we realized that there was a group of lizard men and a basilisk both heading along the road towards Borin's Folly. We were unsure which tracks came first and who was following who. Was it a basilisk chasing lizard folk or lizard folk getting revenge? Now, as much as we felt we could challenge them both if need be, we had bigger fish to fry and a desire to go to Borin's Folly quickly, so we decided to bypass them and head off the road to reach Borin's Folly a different way. The next day we reached Borin's Folly with a desire to head straight toward the forge. However, as we rounded a corner we were attacked by zombies! Yes, last time it was skeletons and fire skeletons and this time it was zombies and fire zombies! Honestly, I can't believe there were any more bodies to fight after the last time, but here we were, completely surrounded. The zombies went straight for Furious , quickly bringing him down, as many of us pelted them from afar. I for one was using my bow, because I knew from last time that if you get up close to a fire undead you will get burned... literally. Remember, if you attack a fire zombie or fire skeleton, it will burn you, especially when it dies. While we had the whole thing pretty much in hand, Artemis did have a very handy trick. I'm not quite sure what he did, but he was able to make most of the zombies afraid of us! So, the zombies started running, and we picked them off one by one. The magic is very interesting... it's like nothing I've ever seen before. The undead become frightened of the entire group, but if you hit them, somehow the magic wears off so they come back at you again. So we had to be very careful to only hit them one at a time. While we were doing this, somehow Fergal wandered off and ended up by himself surrounded by zombies. Thankfully the minotaur is pretty strong, but we were able to rush down there and help him out so he didn't get swarmed and die. This, my friends, is why you've got to stick with the party! Finally, we took a quick rest in one of the abandoned buildings. Honestly, I didn't really need a rest since I was still perfectly fine after fighting with my bow, but some of my companions like the monk, the bard, and the spell casters needed a bit of rest before we could head into the forge. Now, this is where things get really interesting. So we head down into the forge and spot a giant pool of lava!! There's a thin path along the edge that can only really fit one person at a time. Immediately we're attacked by two wolves made of fire and a fire newt that spat fire at us. Now, thankfully these creatures don't burn when you hit them so you can get up nice and close. I thought we had the whole thing pretty much in hand, when this flying creature burst out of the cave and started breathing fire on us from the sky! At this point, many of the members of my party were urging us to retreat, but I still thought we had a fair chance... that was until this little evil fire fey cast magic on my armor that made it unbearably hot! Even so, I managed to push through so that we could form a defensive strategic retreat. Fergal and I stayed behind until everyone was out, and then as I went outside away from the creature, I realized my armor was still on fire! Thankfully the others were able to douse me in water enough to cool it down to take it off me. My skin is still pretty tender where it burned me. Sairina pulls up her tunic sleeves to show them slightly red arms. Overall, that forge is nasty. I have no idea what dark fire magic is afoot down there, but I think it's best if we only go back with very strong warriors and magic users who've been tested in a few adventures first. This is not the place for novices. I think it's also important to leave your metal armor and weapons in your bags and at your side. When I eventually go back down there I know I'll be wearing leather armor and shooting that evil thing with my bow. Then I can break out the sword for the wolves and the newt. Honestly, don't even worry too much about those things, and focus on bring down the flying creature. While I'll admit it wasn't the success I'd hoped, I think we got some pretty great intel. But now that I've shared all of this with you, I urge you to not go back there without me. You'll need at least one experienced person to lead you back down there if you're to make it out alive.
