Surface humans are Nomads

Here is some preliminary work on a 2nd type of human I call "Nomads". I will say little because I want your comments on the information I have so far. Later on I will add post of some specific clans I have worked up already. Nomads Not all humans decided to live underground. Some humans live on the surface of “Earth that was”. “Nomad” is the common name given to those humans. Most humans cannot survive for extended periods on the surface of the earth because they will die from the desert arctic conditions. Nomads are humans evolved and learned to live where others perish. Nomads appear to be loners in the Arctic Desert of the “Earth that was”. If you can find a nomad because they are invisible it would be in the ice and snow of the surface. Nomads have lived solitary lives on the surface for centuries, maybe longer. Nomads are individual but they have also been seen in clusters called “Clans”. The clans are only noticeable if they are moving in groups, travelling. Strangers and clansmen alike name themselves based on their clan identity. Nomads live without wires. No single nomad has cybernetics installed in their body. They live their entire life without being connected to the AI Power Plants. Nomads make homes in the ice they call “Ice Dens”. The ice dens use an unknown energy source that creates a natural low level emp field which seems to keep the AI at bay. The emp field isn’t active when they are travelling. This effect seems to be intrinsically tied to the shelters they make. Nomads only have trouble with sentinels when they leave their homes. The nomads live in a secret city that has never been attacked by Machines and never found by Zion humans. The legend says they live on the surface in an area with sunlight and trees. Nomad Mercenary - Fights the Machines for money, or personal goals, but not because someone wants him/her to. Nomad mercenaries are nomads that follow the practices of Mercenaries. If their mercenary work does not violate the clan’s philosophies they may be affiliated with that clan. [All Nomads must have some level of the Desert Survival skill] Nomad Clansmen - Clans are based around certain beliefs. Each Clan has beliefs they follow and that is why they are together. They also bare markings of their clan on their body. [Nomads that are not mercenaries all have some level of the Clan Customs skill. The skill depends on what clan they are part of. Usually there is some form of hand signals that are specific to small groups of the clan. Hand signals is a separate skill, and must be bought for each member of the group.]
Extremely rough draft here but I want to give an example of ones I have used in previous play test session. Clan Name: Adzu clan Notable Phrase:               "The only true way to freedom is through death of the rose." Clan founder, Black Rose Philosophy of the Clan:               All electrical systems must be destroyed. Machines that run off electricity are the roses that prick, they contain immense beauty just don't get to close. Kinetic energy is the only technology base they use. Clan Culture:               Adzu are a very individualistic clan. They travel as loners, pairs, or a very close knit group of “family”. Adzu believe highly in mentoring an apprentice. They will be taught everything the clansman knows. It’s common but not mandatory. They can only mentor one person at a time.   Clan Name:                Snowy Owl clan Notable Phrase:               "Let your plans be dark and as impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt" Clan founder, Owl Leader "Kihn"(Kihn's name is known only to clansmen, it is never spoken out of the clansmen tongue) Philosophy of the Clan:               To be well trained terrorist/Guerrela Warfare. Secrecy is paramount. Always avoid contact with the enemy. Never try to be the hero. Always have back up. Never put yourself in harm’s way, if your mission can be accomplished from a safe distance. You can control any situation by knowing when to be seen and unseen. The Snowy Owl Clan respect anyone who is skilled in the ways of silence and shadows. Clan Culture:               This clan has “Kihn”, the high leader. The current Kihn is “Krekka”, male about 43. Then there is a “De’Lan” who is the local groups leader. A “De’Tin” who is elected by the De’Lan’s of each tribe. For Every five tribes there must be one De’Tin elected to represent them in front of the Kihn. The De’Tin are the equivalent of a war tribunal. They gather together as is necessary, to make clan wide decisions.
