So Frustrated with Dynamic Lighting

I have used it before and there were no issues. For whatever reason, it's not working correctly (from the GM perspective). Here are the details: - Map is set to the Map Layer. - Dynamic and Explorer more are both switched on. - Restrict Movement is turned on. - Explorable darkness is on. - Vision and low light are both turned on for my player tokens. Is this a perspective issue? I when I single out a players field of vision it works for a minute then turns off. This didn't happen last time I used the program. Would someone be willing to shed some light on the mater (no pun intended). Thanks everyone.
I feel like we're having the same issues except I've never managed to get it to work because its my first time ever using it! :D https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/9680692/alien-rpg-dynamic-lighting-help
I've been having issues too. My players can go thru "walls," and when I Ctrl+L for player's view, it doesn't work. Actually, I found that if I turn off "Player Has Sight," then Ctrl+L works, which doesn't even make sense.

UDL is in active development. The behavior and performance of features has continuously shifted over the last 9 months that it has been available for testing. If you want a stable lighting system that behaves how you would expect, I would suggest sticking with LDL until a date is announced for its retirement.
LDL has been taken away hasn't it? I thought it was all DL now?

Roll20 have just made some minor changes in the UI to move UDL to be listed first in some places like the Token Settings & Page Settings, but nothing else.
LDL is still very much available and I'm using it in all my games at the moment, one player queried it when he heard i was using Dynamic Lighting in the game as he is also in one that uses UDL and has seen the problems, but so far no one has mentioned any issues with it. The only thing I have noticed is that the Advanced Fog of War option (the old version of explorer mode that leaves areas explored dimly lit) seems to slow the game down a lot, I don't know if the computer i'm using to run the game is powerful enough, or just that the time i run it the internet is busy and it just adds too much to the upload/download times, i also find using animated graphics gives the same problem.

With AFoW, make sure you don't combine it with Global Illumination. The system checks all the squares on the map constantly. Calculations happen on your computer, so internet connection should not factor in too much.

LDL has been lagging for my group for a couple months with AFoW, even with Global Illumination off (though combined with GI "on" it grinds to a halt). It might be because we don't use "update on drop", but we finally just stopped using it (AFoW) anyway. Aside from that, LDL works like a charm and I still recommend it until all the UDL bugs are ironed out. Brian C. said: With AFoW, make sure you don't combine it with Global Illumination. How do you turn off AFoW and Dynamic lighting (specifically in the Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords modules.) Players are only seeing a black map. :(

Players need two things to see with either version of Dynamic Lighting: vision on a token they control and a light source to see by. https://roll20.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037258654-Dynamic-Lighting Usually, players get edit permission on a token by having it linked to a character sheet they control. The token needs to have "Has Sight" checked. Characters with darkvision will "Emits Light" 60/0 (or 30/0 with a lighting modifier of 2 for low light creatures, sorry my PF settings are rusty). Maps need the following settings: Dynamic Lighting -Enforce Line of Sight Outdoor daytime or well-lit interior maps have Global Illumination. Otherwise, either the player tokens or other tokens need "Emits Light" where "Everyone Sees Light". To turn the lighting off, just untick Dynamic Lighting and Advanced Fog of War on the page's lighting settings. That's all you need to do to turn it off for a page. This would need to be repeated on each page.

Maps are simple, just open the map settings for that map in the tab and turn off the settings you don't want and turn on the settings you do. (Can't be more specific without more details) Tokens require a bit more work because there are more of them. In general, Only PC tokens need sight. But if your aim is to completely turn off ALL DL, then the individual token settings are immaterial. However, if your problem is that players are not seeing anything, turning off either LDL and/or DUL may be overkill. There are other reasons players may not see anything. To see, a token needs two things: sight and light. Make sure that the tokens the players are using have sight turn on (details are dependent on the DL system you are using) and either need to emit light, have a light source nearby, or have global illumination turned on on the page. Performance note (If using LDL, do not activate Global Illumination and Advanced Fog of War—use one or the other)
