D&D 5e use kg instead of pounds

Me and my players play D&D 5e using kilograms instead of pounds, and we found very annoying having to do the math between pounds and kg everytime somebody gets something or anything like that. We are using 5th Edition OGL by Roll20, I would like to know if it has some way of using kgs instead of pounds in this sheet, some API or anything like that.

I don't think there is anything built-in like that, though it has been suggested. Is there a published version of the rules that uses the metric system?

Europe didn't have the metric system until 1799, so the imperial or US customary system is just perfect for immersing any group in medieval fantasy.

I.e. some countries still use pounds for weight, but metric for distance and movement.

Interesting, which language did you find that split metric and imperial? I have only seen metric used in the official translations.

I found a rather lengthy Reddit post , which among other things contained this shot from the German Spielerhandbuch  showing the height weight table for characters in a strange hybrid of cm and pounds . This is all kind of academic, I think, especially if there is no WotC consensus. When I played Champions, I used the metric system, because that's what the system is built on. It all comes down to abstract units, anyway. Your character with a strength of X can lift Y units. I can understand the desire for the units to be a familiar real-world measurement, but it might be very difficult to program. The Compendium is very large, with enough problems of its own, and the translated rules only approximate conversion anyway. Don't forget that not only are measurements called out in data fields, but are also written into spell descriptions, modules, hard baked into map images and on and on. Something that would require this much re-programming is likely beyond the scope of the sheet feedback thread, and would likely fall more under the umbrella of a Suggestion Forum entry.

As someone who grew up entirely with the metric system, I'd have to agree with Keith's "It all comes down to abstract units, anyway. Your character with a strength of X can lift Y units". Really, the units don't matter as long as they're internally consistent - I've never had any issues using feet and pounds in D&D, though I cringe when I see science done with the messy things :) As we don't need to convert to pressure, force etc. in D&D.... just call then Blurbs and Gorfuggles, and you're good to go. Or.... Dragonclaws and Halfscales? I don't actually know the measurements of a Dragon, but that'll do. A broken scale and a claw kept in a vault somewhere which are 0.45kg and 0.3m respectively. They belonged to some dragon obsessed with measuring the world. Problem solved!

Need to keep the reference scale in a portable hole so that it doesn't degrade from the environment. ;)
