Halle , Titus , and Varis left the Tomb of Diderius behind them and began the trek towards Boarskyr Bridge , where they expected to meet back up with Naivara , Rhogar , Barnabus Stonemane , and the captured Varram the White . The trip took two days and was uneventful - they arrived by nightfall at Boarskyr Bridge. The group met up at Bolo's Tentside Inn , where they traded stories and took in the latest gossip from those around them. Varis, not in disguise, noticed two hooded figures slip out of the tent but didn't think anything of it. The group took turns standing watch through the night at the prison carrage to ensure Varram did not escape. During Halle's watch, an assassin struck and nearly killed Varram! The assassin fled and Halle lost sight of them. He had Titus woken back up to join him. Titus and Halle continued the watch together in case the assassin returned. The assassin knew better, however, and instead opted for a consolation prize. They slipped into Varis' room quietly and made short work of the meditating Varis. The assassin took his body and carried it quietly and unnoticed through the sleeping city to their partner, waiting just outside of the walls. Titus and Halle spotted the assassin and gave chase. Through divine magic Titus forced the assassin into a duel which ended in the paladin's favor. With moments to spare, Titus was able to revivify Varis, bringing him back from the brink of death. The assassin's companion fled north into the night. Varis noticed a tattoo on the assassin indicating they were of the Xanathar Guild , and he confirmed to Titus and Halle that he was a member as well. With no further trouble through the night, the group recovered and began the long trek north towards Waterdeep along the Trade Way . After 7 days of relatively uneventful travel, Halle, Varis, and Titus arrived in the ruins of a small town which was familiar to Varis and Halle. This town had been one of their stops when they traveled from Baldur's Gate, and an altercation with fraud nobles in a stable nearly set the entire place ablaze. It seemed as if someone or something had finished the job since then. Naivara, Barnabus, and Rhogar were off scouting the area and weren't there when a group of winged kobolds burst out of the trees and tried to ambush Halle, Titus, Varis, and Varram the White. About half the kobolds fled once Halle and Titus took to the sky, but not before setting the cart with Varram in it ablaze. Just when it seemed things were turning around, the Half Dragon Emberrin arrived, riding on top of his half-brother, the red dragon Chemicranth, Destroyer of Men . In the fierce aerial and ground battle that followed, the remainder of the kobolds along with both Emberrin and Chemicranth were defeated by Titus, Halle, and Varis. The final blow against Chemicranth was delivered by Titus, and the red dragon created a large crater when it fell from the sky. Finally its reign of extortion along the Trade Way was over. By sunset their companions returned with news of their own... At game start it is 3 Hammer in the Year of the Star Walker's Return.
