[D&D 5e] Ability to have no proficiency bonus selectable

I am currently making a character who owns a lute but has no clue how to play it. However, the character sheets have no ability to remove proficiency bonuses. At present, you either have to select Proficient, Expertise, or Jack of all Trades. How about having the ability to select no bonus at all.
Just click the attribute you want to use (Charisma, Dexterity, Constitution etc). Then you get a roll without the proficiency modifier.
