Inkarnate grids inconsistent size or is it roll20

I have a question with importing inkarnate maps to roll20. im exporting from inkarnate with grids, the map is 1342x2048 and I have 31 columns, 47 rows. when i export it to roll20, i right click the map and change the size. i also align the grid. when i do align the grid, it will be perfectly aligned but about half way through the map it starts to get unaligned and eventually the grids dont line up with roll20s. what am i doing wrong? I'm exporting from inkarnate because the grids there are how i want my players to navigate through the map. when i just use roll20s grids, they're not lined up the way i want them to be. is there a way to change the vertical and horizontal alignment of the grids in roll20. im confused there, dungeonfog maps always line up perfectly, inkarnate has always given me issues with grid alignment .is there a certain amount of rolls and columns i should have set on inkarnate?

Roll20 uses a grid-square that's increments of 70px. I can't find a way to adjust the dimensions of the grid-square in Inkarnate. When I tried to export a map that was 40x30, the dimensions were 2048x1536. If my math skills aren't failing me, that's about a 51.2px square. You may be better off running the R20 page as gridless so the two grids don't overlap/cause confusion...

If the inkarnate map is supposed to be exactly 31x47 grids, it is at least not nicely gridded as 1342/31 = 43, 29 032 and 2048/47 = 43, 57 44468. If you want to know for sure load it into a bitmap editor and turn the grid on in that program (for example GIMP), my guess is that it does not nicely layout there too.

Something to be aware of with pre-gridded images is that the Roll20 grid is 1px wide whereas grids on images can often be 3 or more pixels wide which makes it much harder to get a perfect fit. The best solutions are usually: Run the page gridless as Finderski suggests Get the best fit possible and turn the grid transparent so you can get reasonably decent snapping without the visual impediment of a misaligned grid

Align to Grid will get you close, but you need to independently align the outermost gridlines on the map to Roll20's grid lines so that there is no skipping in the middle (if there is, widen or shorten the map in that dimension one line at a time as needed). After the map is lined up, even if it isn't pixel perfect, it will be good enough because you can cause the Roll20 grid to go transparent. Then you get the benefits of the Roll20 grid without the visual annoyance of the two grids not perfectly lining up. (Edit: realized that is basically what Ziechael said). The following video shows how to line up pretty much any map to Roll20's grid. https://youtu.be/Kip8clx2e-w Edit: Also, if the inkarnate map really is exactly 31x47 squares, just make the page 31x47 and resize the map to the page. It will snap into place.

Yeah, given the specs, that map you mention is set for 43.29 ppu x 43.57 ppu. That's never going to fit anything. The width of gridlines shouldn't matter, either, so long as they are regularly spaced. Roll20's default is a gridline every 70 pixels. It doesn't count the width of each gridline, just where they are placed. Brian's method in his edit is the best method, so long as there are no partial squares on the map to contend with. I always work with units (squares), not pixels if I can help it.
When making maps in Inkarnate, i will usually make the map using the grids, then once finishing in Inkarnate turn the grid off. Then export the map without grids. This way will allow you to keep the grids on Roll20 without having to worry about matching the grid lines up.
