Group of 3 looking for Long Term DM!

Hiya! We have a group of three players that has been searching for some time for a long-term DM.  Important aspects of the group: We've played 4e. We'd prefer to keep it to 4e. We have a member who would prefer not to play a defender, another who would mostly prefer either to play a striker or defender, and I do not have any preference as to what role I fill.  We'd be open to having 2 more players, 3 more at the absolute most. We think 5 players would be perfect, and of course this is also up to your DM'ing style. We'd be more than willing to discuss if you have any preference. We want to play our own characters. There's nothing wrong with playing a pregen for a short, one-shot campaign, but for the long term, we want to see our characters grow. We're flexible: literally every night except for Saturday night is available. Two of us are in the Central timezone, with the third being on Eastern time. We would prefer to start at 7:00pm Central at the absolute earliest.  While the choice of game night is really flexible, we'd like to keep it to one session a week. We don't want either you or anyone in our group to get burned out or to have to fight to schedule around our lives.  We enjoy a mix of both action-roleplay and typical roleplay: a pretty even balance between fighting and skill challenges is good, or perhaps a bit more on the skill-challenge and roleplay side is also good.  We're fun and laid-back. We love to learn, we love to play. Take us into your world, and witness our characters grow under your tutelage and through our adventures in your  campaign! Let us know if you're interested! Thanks :) EDIT: I forgot to mention: we'd be open to using Roll20, Google+ Hangouts, or Skype for voicechat. We all have mics and webcams. We'd prefer to use Roll20's interface for our sessions. Thanks again!
Are mondays 2-6 mst work?
No? Something tells me you didn't read our aspects: two of us are Central time, and need to start no earlier than 7:00pm Central. Thanks for your interest.
Sorry I read it as prefer, and time zonrs always throw me off. I hope you guys find one though.
Thanks! :D
Hey there. I'm not a DM, but I'd be willing to throw my Halfling Ranger into the mix. I just made him, so if you don't mind having fresh level 1's I'd be happy to join. I have skype, I also prefer the Roll20 interface, and I live in EST. My available days are Fri and Sun, with Sat being taken by another campaign I'm in, which is also one session a week (which works perfectly) . So, I'm definitely interested. ^___^
Sounds awesome! I think that works out since one of our members doesn't mind playing Defender, another doesn't mind playing leader/striker, and I don't mind which role I fill. You'd be more than welcome to join, I'm sure. I don't make the decision myself, but the other two are laid-back. And besides, halfling rangers are a lot more interesting than just about any other type of ranger, haha.
I definitely agree. Since I only started playing D&D about a month or so ago, I often ask the other guys I play with what can and cannot work and I brought up a Halfling Ranger. The DM said it could work it just isn't as good as other race/class matchups. But I had my heart set, so... there he is. lol
Haha, I enjoy min/maxing as much as the next guy, but when it comes to D&D, it's much more important, imo, to enjoy the character you're playing. Well, as long as the other two don't have any objections, as far as I'm concerned, you have first dibs when we get a DM ^_^
Awesome to hear. If anything develops, let me know. ^___^
Will do! I let my group know about you, and they said welcome aboard! We're gonna need a couple more players. I hope a DM bites soon :p.
I have no expereince in 4th edition, I've GM'd Next and Vampire the masquerade. Games would start at 9:30PM central if you were interested. Would need time to prep/make a game world/learn the rules.
I tend to try to reward roleplay, even to the point of derailing. I like to make sandbox worlds. Also, if someone isnt there, there will be no session. I require 100% attendance for my players.
Hey there. I'm on eastern time and I may be able to fill in and run a campaign for your group. I have most of my DM experience running 3.5 and Pathfinder (3.75), but I've been looking to get into 4th edition for a while and this may be the perfect opportunity. However there are a few stipulations I should lay out, but as long as they meet the approval of the group we're golden as I am fairly flexible on time. So here it is: I want to run the  Worlds Largest Dungeon . I'll give you a little time to research, if you like, but suffice to say this is a long term, action-roleplay campaign setting, which I will be translating into 4ed in my head on the fly. The characters will be spending a large portion of their time underground, so there will be plenty of chances for inter party roleplay, and multitudes of creatures and beasts to parlay with in the darkness.
Anthony: We expected it may take a little time, even after finding a DM, to get it set up. So no worries there. We understand that not all DMs just have made long-term campaigns that are ready to go. Depending on how long each session would be, 9:30pm may be a bit late. Not saying that's a definite, but I'd have to check with the group.  For you: How long would your sessions be? And the attendance wouldn't be an issue. Also, what day would you run your session, and what kind of campaign would you run? (As in, do you already have an idea of the type of campaign you want to run?) Stevo: That sounds like a lot of fun, and we've been searching for a long-term campaign: that definitely fits the bill. I'll have to run that by the group and see if they want to partake.  For you: What day would you run your session, and how long would it run? It's nice that you're flexible on time, as well. I have never played this dungeon: is the roleplay experience totally inter-party? Or are there enough NPCs to get roleplay material out of throughout the campaign? For both of you, I'll direct my party here today: one of them works the afternoon, central time, and the other is a student until mid-afternoon eastern, so it may be that they won't see this until this evening. However, I will be checking this periodically throughout the day to see if you have any updates/stipulations/questions.
Oh yeah there are plenty of NPCs to interact with and I have a nice intro hook to get you guys started. The module doesn't kick in until the actual dungeon, but I may write up a starting town or a rally point or something to let you guys stretch your legs a bit and make preparations  I don't want it to come off like I'd be writing you into a corner, but that's exactly what I need to happen and its because all the story takes place down there, but I'll try to make it as natural as possible. Your earliest time looks to be 8pm Eastern, which is usually fine for me. As soon as you guys have characters we can play that evening, and if it works for everyone stick to a weekly or maybe bi-weekly schedule. I prefer to either sit one long 6 to 7 hour session, or two separate shorter sessions per week for this amount of content. As I'm doing a lot of the conversions on the fly we'll consider this a 4e home brew, as rules will be up for interpretation until we need them solidified, in which case I'll go with whatever works best. I'm open to suggestions, if you think you found a rule in a book that might help you or the party in some way and can explain it into your character properly, I'm always willing to listen but I also reserve the right to ignore any input and do it my way instead.
Fair enough, and it sounds like this would be a lot of fun. I/we'll get back to you asap in regards to whether once a week or twice a week for 2 shorter sessions would work better. We'll have to get the others in the group to read this thread and get their input, but to me, sounds good!
Well, the game I play on Sat can last a good 3-5 hours, so I'd be alright 6-7 if we start around 8pm EST. And as I've brought up, my only available days are Fri and Sun. I referred one of the guys in my other game over here to see if he's interested. He DM's on Fri and my Sat game, but he's looking to play. EDIT: And running through a huge dungeon sounds pretty cool.
Srsly its the biggest dungeon I've ever seen. :) Up until we actually sit down and start playing, I an 100% on your guys' side. I have some really basic character suggestions that sort of meld with my narrative introduction, I'm going to leave your back-story and character generation mostly up to you, but I have assets like online character sheets and .pdfs of all the rulebooks or supplemental material you need. I encourage you to get creative as you are going to need all the help you can get down there.
Hey I'm the guy Shield mentioned. If you need another player I would like to join. I can play any role that may be needed. EDIT: I can't do Friday nights because I already have a game then.
Sounds awesome, we'd love to have both of you along, Matt and Shield. Since we have Friday as a no-go (one of our members specifically requested Sunday), as long as Stevo says Sunday works for him, it sounds like this thing is on. Anthony, thank you for your interest :). Do Sundays at 7:00pm Central work everyone, Stevo included?
7 CST is 8 EST right? If so I'm good with the time.
Yes sir, it sure is. :)
Matt J. said: 7 CST is 8 EST right? If so I'm good with the time. What he said.
Sunday is a perfect day for me. Do we want to start coallating information here, or just jump onto skype text chat or something? How many players do I have?
It seems you've already found a DM. But the kind of campaign I have in mind is: Sandbox, gritty, high lethality(challenging, not impossible), medium magic. Long term/epic campaign. mondays, tuesdays, or thursdays.
Yea, we found a DM. :) We'll be giving Stevo the honor. We'll be taking Shieldwarden and Matt J. along for the ride as well. As a consensus from the core 3 members we started with, we'd like to keep it to five, so we'll be halting any future invites, unless the DM and group decides a sixth member is need, in which case we will pursue that at that time.  Thanks for everyone's interest. I/we wish you well in your adventures, and hope to game with you as well, one day. Happy hunting!
