If this mission is swapped to the Friday I'll put down Sabrina level 2 Draconic Sorcerer. She has a score to settle with Varis and needs him alive.

"A score to settle, eh? Be careful who you threaten child, you may not enjoy the consequences" - Varis, probably, as he struts off to take a piss, falls into another snake pit and has to call out for the rest of the party to rescue him again.

After sharing a few ales with Artemis and the gang, Sairina gathers quite a small following, all eager to know of what happened on the Fizzbang quest, especially considering the group returned home empty-handed. "Did you find them?" "Are they all dead?" "Do we need to mount another rescue mission??" Sairina, quite embarrassed at her failure, and mildly intoxicated tries to avoid the questions. Eventually, she realizes that no one will let it be unless she satisfies their questions with appropriate answers. Let's see... how can I spin this? We've come back to Hope to regroup and mount another rescue mission. Unfortunately, we weren't adequately prepared for the mission, nor the creatures we encountered in this area of the swamp. Our plan is to head out again soon, better prepared with experienced warriors and horses due to the immense distance. Sairina brushes her hair out of her eyes and shifts uncomfortably in her seat. I know this is difficult, what with the arrival of the dragon, and our missing companions. It is my hope that I can both rescue these unfortunate adventurers AND help to slay the evil red dragon, but we must organize parties for both. If they both overlap and I need to bow out of one, so be it. But while we're here, let me fill you in on what we encountered while on the rescue mission. As we headed out on the mission, the fog was especially bad. I know many of you have also encountered this fog, which makes it very difficult to navigate the terrain. Somehow we actually ended up back on the road! We were about 12 miles West of Hope on the Road and then continued North. The rescue group consisted of myself, Artemis , Seonbi, Sabrina, Fergal, Furious, and a newcomer Knock . Our first day was actually very uneventful despite getting lost. We had a fantastic feast of frog and cattails provided by our wonderful chef Furious and settled in for a nice sleep. On my watch duty with Sabrina the sorcerer, ( Sairina rolls her eyes) a few goblins with giant rats as pets stumbled on our camp. While I know there's a goblin bounty out, I couldn't bring myself to kill them, especially since they were doing nothing wrong, just hunting for mushrooms. We let them leave in peace. The next day we headed 12 miles North. Here we spotted a circle of standing stones covered in moss, about 6 miles to the West of where we were. As much as we wanted to go and explore them, it was too far out of the way for us to travel, especially with the rescue in progress. I encourage another group to investigate though. They look to be very ancient. Soon after this, we were attacked by a few GIANT frogs and a few smaller cat-sized frogs that were bright red in color, along with swarms of regular-sized frogs. Immediately the swarm of frogs covered me, but they were quite easy to brush off. However, one of the large frogs attempted to eat Fergal! The worst part of this combat was definitely the small red frogs. When you hit them they EXPLODE burning everyone within 10 feet on all sides! Not only that but it almost seems like they have a death wish, and were constantly getting as close to as many of us as possible. At one point the sorceress Sabrina killed a frog I was trying to get us all way from. This set off a chain reaction of exploding frogs that left most of us injured. While we were trying to kill them without dying ourselves, Artemis was completely covered in the small swarm of frogs. They got inside his armor, and to be honest, it looked as if he was dead... until there was a flash of light and suddenly he was conscious again. I'm not sure what happened, but obviously, his god doesn't want him dead just yet... Thankfully, none of us died and we were free to continue forward. The group of us kept heading North until we ran into the ruined keep a few of you have mentioned. The slaver elves didn't seem to be there, but with a rescue mission at hand, we didn't have time to investigate, so we headed North/Northwest to Goliath Falls. Goliath Falls was absolutely beautiful, with glowing fungus at night. However, while I was doing my nightly meditation, two giant trolls appeared and tried to take Sabrina as a midnight snack! I burst out of the tent, and did my best with my sword, despite not wearing any armor. We eventually cut one down while I kept the other busy by dodging all his attacks. But right as we thought the battle was in hand, the DEAD troll suddenly woke up and started attacking again!! At this moment, I was a bit distracted and the other troll knocked me upside the head to the point I could barely stand, he also knocked out Artemis too. At this point, I knew I had to save Artemis , so I kicked fire in the troll's face and dragged Artemis away. I stabilized him but had no potions or anything to heal him, so I had to leave his body hidden behind a tent. When I ran back into the fray, the still-alive troll realized he was absolutely fucked, and ran off, while we set to work on hacking the head off the other one so he couldn't wake up. Seonbi said something about how acid might've killed them? Fire sure didn't do the trick, and even as we left the campsite in the morning the Troll's head had already started to grow back! It was here we had to make a tough decision. We weren't even at the rescue site yet, and most of us were near death's door. While I still wanted to continue on, I decided to leave it up to those who had friends who were missing, like Seonbi and Artemis . Eventually, we decided to head back and re-group. So for those of you who are interested in the rescue mission, we will be trying again soon! However, we are requiring that everyone have some sort of a mount so we can get there quickly. The travel time to get to this location is a hindrance, but with horses or similar mounts I believe we can get there with enough stamina to rescue our friends and all make it back alive. Who's with me?! Sairina throws her fist into the air as she shouts with an inspiring tone.
Horse party.... ASSEMBLE!

22 Highsun After overhearing someone mention that Varis was one of the Fizzbang three. I knew I had to sign up. I'll finally will get to taste some sweet revenge on Varis when we save the day. Who useless in the need of saving now!! I began the mission in good spirits, the group seems a capable bunch - a few brutish types but I suppose they can't help it. I also noticed that Artermis, Alexandria's younger brother was with us -he better not try anything with his 'healing' on me.  Sadly, my good mood quickly soured as that fool Fergal got us lost, instead on going north west we ended back on the main road - seriously a child would do a better job, so much for the minotaur's famous sense of direction. Eventually we got our bearings and were off in the right direction before nightfall.  I spent that night's watch with Sairina. I was looking forward speaking to the elf as she has made such a good reputation for herself in Hope. I honestly don't see the appeal, she's uneducated and a bore. Despite her shortcomings, she did deter away some goblins that came too close to camp. I would have had the satisfaction of killing them, but with the red dragon around, you never know which one is going to be it's new favourite pet. 27 Highsun  Continuing on course ( what a miracle ) we discovered an ancient stone circle. Regrettably there are holes in my knowledge on such things, but what I do know is that it is likely to be used for teleportation or perhaps summoning. I best do some reading when I get back to hope. Sticking to the task at hand we pressed on and were ambushed by frogs. FUCKING FROGS. Initially I thought killing the local wildlife was going to be a push over. I took a few out with one cast of magic missile ( god's I'm good ) but then the little red toads started to explode and injured most of the party. Also I do have to admit, I was impressed at one of the giant frogs that tried to eat Fergal. Artermis nearly died in the fight, if it weren't for that the token from Lathander he carries. Maybe he'll make a wise life choice and convert. Nevertheless, I still had to save his arse later in the fight. Then he saved mine, and it fucking hurt! It felt begining awaken with a lighting bolt. I told him NOT to touch me. He better keep his hands to himself next time! That evening we camped in a beautiful clearing covered with bioluminescent fungus about 6 miles north to the slaver's keep. I harvested some of the fungus for myself, motelight I believe it's called. I spend my watch with Sairina again. Awful conversation. I also noticed that she has some issue about me being a naturally gifted caster, she must be jealous or something. Later that evening I awoke to a filthy troll dragging me out of my tent. Seriously, does anyone respect personal space in the frontier? Luckily the monk Furious was very helpful in getting my out of the trolls grasp. Trolls are a difficult foe to slay. Even fire it wasn't enough to permanent end the bloody beasts. Seonbi said that acid would do the trick, not like we had any handy. Artermis went down in the fight again - pathetic . But it served as a message, we need to go back to Hope and prepare. Hopefully the troll that we decapitated takes it's sweet time in re-growing its head so it doesn't come after us.  Mounts would be vital for this rescue mission. Sadly my lack of money is going to be an issue. I hope Varis will just embarrass himself for me.
hahahaahaha - love it!

*Furious sponsors an orphanage in Darromar where he spent a number of years as an orphan himself. Oak is a youngster at the orphanage that he has a close relationship with. He has not talked about this with the group.* Dear Oak, Well young one, as I think I have mentioned to you before... adversity builds character. In my latest adventure out of Hope, our party was task with rescuing the survivors of a previous "rescue" mission. While "rescuing the rescuers" has a nice ring to it, it leaves one feeling a certain sense of "caution" as well.  I set out with my pals Artemis, Sairina, Fergal and Seonbi, as well as new acquaintances Sabrina and Knock. Our first night was oddly uneventful, and I was hopeful the rest of our journey to this "rescue" site would be the same. Sadly, it was not to be. Shortly after discovering a mysterious stone circle (which we think may be usable for teleportation... but to where? And at what cost?)... we were attacked by a group of... frogs. I know to a boy such as yourself frogs likely do not seem dangerous. Unfortunately, these frogs were either ginormous, explosive, incendiary or pack animals... any of those sound bad, but when you encounter them all together waiting to ambush you... well... let's just say we were fortunate to get out alive. Artemis almost died, or did die and then magically came back to life due to a magic amulet(I need one of those!). And Fergal spend some time enjoying the inside of a giant frog's mouth. Happily we prevailed. That evening brought more hi jinx. Did you know that it's very difficult to kill a Troll? They regenerate like mad! And the two that surprised us in the middle of the night, intent on eating us it seems, were resistant to fire as well. So now we have to carry around acid to dissolve incapacitated trolls... dreadful. In any case, more near death experiences ensued. I will say I got some seriously good hits in on the troll that tried to make off with Sabrina. It always feels good to exert oneself and see the results. The next morning brought reassessment. We headed back to Hope to resupply and buy horses for our next attempt. So continues my adventures in the Savage Frontier. More soon, young one. Be well, study hard, and mind the matron. Best, Furious
Artemis' Notes From the Frontier - Rescue the Fizzbang 3 22 Highsun What a morning! First Fizzbang wanders in without Skrit or the others and nonchalantly announces they are captured or killed! In the time it took to assemble a rescue party, the town was then attacked by a dragon named Ragemaw! After getting the fires under control, we’ve set out. I’m confident Alexandria has the situation in hand and I cannot bear the thought of Skrit suffering! Sairina leads us again and this thought gives me comfort. Seonbi has proven an excellent companion previously (if somewhat difficult socially…) and joins out of concern for his friend Jizo. The giant brute Fergal has a heart of gold and a keen eye. Furious the wood elf monk will add more than just his superb cooking skills - although that alone would surely be enough!! The newcomer, Knock , seems full of intrigue. Sabrina … words fail me… she seems to have joined out of a desire to mock Varis (one of the other potential survivors)? There must be more to it, but she seems wary of speaking to me - she mumbled something about Alexandria before storming away! I guess I’ll tread carefully… 23 Highsun A pretty uneventful night - apart from the revelation that Sabrina isn’t exactly a fan of Bahamut… it seems she was a little “burned” by Alexandria’s attempts to heal some sort of disease and she now blames Bahamut! I’m under strict instructions NOT to touch her. In other news, it seems Knock is a cleric too, just to Beshaba! He assures us his intent is to get her to avert her gaze from the town but I can only hope he’s successful as we could use all the good luck we can get! (it’s also been remarked that Knock seems to be a “better” version of myself… HA, I can see what they mean as he is athletic and charismatic. A truly likeable individual (despite his god) of the kind I encountered all too often at school. The popular kids who had little time for me - until they found out about Alexandria at least!) Today has been a challenge. Ambushed by a myriad of frog creatures, we were hard pressed to dispatch them! At one point, Sabrina exploded many in a chain reaction that sorely injured many of us… I couldn’t help but look at Knock but if this was the will of Beshaba, he seemed oblivious. There was a swarm of frogs that covered me and everything went black for a moment before I felt something… unknown drag me back to the light. Praise to Bahamut but this felt different.. but there wasn’t time to dwell on it at the time. Ignoring her previous warnings, I healed Sabrina and dragged her away from more of the creatures while the others finished them off.   I feel very odd and the symbol of Lathander gifted to me by Borin is warm to the touch. I am unused to this kind of “active” intervention. Oh great Bahamut, I trust in your subtle blessing and in the power of guiding other’s actions through demonstrating “good” but this healing power is like nothing I’ve felt before! The others had very relevant questions about what happened… I just don’t feel I have the answers for them at this stage… I go to sleep now to ponder what this means. 24 Highsun Defeat. Ambushed in the night by some sort of swamp trolls, I rushed from my tent and was almost instantly rendered unconscious. Apparently I have Sairina to thank for dragging me to safety. I must find some way to reward her for all she continues to do to help me! When I awoke, the party were battered and bruised - although thankfully all still alive. Barely… We’re returning to Hope. While it pains me to (temporarily) abandon Skrit and the others, if they are still alive, then they will probably be OK for a while. If they are already dead, then there is no hurry… We return to restock and return with mounts - the quicker we can cover this swamp the better! I also feel a strange “enlightenment” building inside about ways to heal all kinds of wounds. The teachings I struggled with at school seem so much clearer to me now - I need to pray with Bahamut to see what this means! (Also, maybe we travel without Knock next time? He seems a really nice guy but so much went wrong on this trip…)
