squares on player tokens on dynamic light layer? whats the purpose?

i've been googling for half an hour and searched on r20 as well. not a single utterance of what this square does on any wiki or guide and no one's ever asked. what's this for, and how can i make use of it? i thought it would let me snap a light source to a token like a torch or something, but nope. is it just a collision box for "dynamic walls cant be passed through"?

What browser are you using? Are you using UDL or Legacy Dynamic Lighting? I see no such square on my pages/tokens when using dynamic lighting (I'm using the legacy/old dynamic lighting...not the Update Dynamic Lighting)

The squares show the bounding box for that token, where it should be colliding with walls.  They only show for player tokens (currently), but exist for any token that has sight.  They are only boxes on UDL, on LDL they show up as a point in the center.
so it was a collision box, glad we got to the bottom of that. (firefox, UDL, by the way)
