Sorry it took so long to reply I have a demanding job. Well so far I have several ideas for characters first being an ex soldier who was conscripted at a young age and after he was finally released from service realized the only thing he knew how to do was fighting and waging war. He tried to become a family man and settle down in his old village but having spent almost a majority of his life away on campaign the life chaffed him. After several unfulfilling years he helped defend his town from a raid, all the thrill of combat rushed back to him and in that moment he knew he had to find that again. It was a lie he told his wife that he could make more money as an adventurer at that the farm was failing, maybe he even believed it himself, but what he was really after was a life of adventure and the risks that life gave him. Second is less thought out as I was thinking about it on my route today but it is a man from the wild lands who would scorer the world in search of the biggest and scariest of beasts and slay them! He grew up the runt of his family and coming from a culture with a deep hunting tradition his weakness caused him and his family great shame. One day while being teased by his older brothers he stormed off into the woods to prove his worth and there he found his doom. It didn't take him long to get lost and found by a pack of hungry wolves to lean to give him up. After running and giving up hope he found a bird, the largest crow he had ever seen, and more strangely than this it spoke to him. It told him that it could save him if he struck a bargain with it, 'I will give you the power to hunt any beast' it said 'but if I tell you to stay your hand you must obey'. Over the next decade the boy grew in size and renown for his hunting exploits eventually surpassed the tribes best hunters and when he eventually grew bored of his local hunting ground he left, with his black feathered tutor in toe for bigger hunting ground with bigger beasts to hunt. that last one isn't perfect and could use some tightening but you get the gist. I think first and foremost the most important question to answer is "Why be an Adventurer?" going into "Valley of assured death and most complete destruction" requires a special kind of a person. I also really want to do something different from the trope of every family member was killed gruesomely and its my fault thing. Both these character ideas have families and one has children who they actively want to eventually see again. I want to run an internal struggle with both of them, am I a good father, can I really define my life on hunting prowess, why do I love risking my life so much do I have a death wish, did I really make the choice to be a slayer of beasts, that sort of thing. I want to pose moral questions from the characters point of view. It may sound to heady but I just want people to know I give it a lot of thought.
