New to dnd really

Just am newish to dnd really. I have played years ago but I don't quite even remember what edition and am lost wit where to start now. Just would like to get back into the community and have some fun with a group if some people would like to get together and play a game with me and maybe help me get back into all of this. I would very much be interested if anyone could help me with this

Could you tell more about yourself, such as your time zone and if you can throw together a 5th edition character on your own  and such?

I am 36, live in the central U.S. time zone. Like I said I havent really played in a long time and havent really gotten familiar with the 5th edition specs and rules and such. I couldnt make a character on my own without a little help due to not having played in so long I think. Ive been watching youtube creators play dnd and listened to stories from there. Just was seeming interesting to me again like something I would like to try again. Just never ran into the opportunity I guess then I heard about this site and thought I would give it a look. Havent really gotten that much into this site thus far as I just started it. I am interested in learning though.
