Importing tokens. Overlay or not?

Hello, newbie here! I was wondering, when you import a token into roll20 to use as npc (or monster) token.. do you create them with a colored overlay or not? I.e.   or   ? IMHO the one with the overlay looks nicer.. but maybe it's move versatile to have it without and use auras (or something else, not sure, still a newbie here) to create the overlay effect while stil having the possibility to color it as red in case it turns hostile. What's the best practice here? Thanks!

I like a nice border around my tokens, helps that it makes them in keeping with 5e products too: But it is all down to personal preference, you do you :) The marketplace recommendations are here for 'best practice' with token dimensions/format if that helps.
