I'm currently running Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, and I wish I had a way to "blur out" portions of the map so that my party can see general terrain (mountain, ocean, forest) but not details until they get close. That gives them the thrill of exploration while still approximating what they can see from a distance (you don't need to be next to mountains to see them, and you can see a distant ocean from a mountain top). I could use Dynamic Lighting with Explorer Mode to approximate part of my intended effect. I can give their token a certain amount of light, then the map will be black for them except the areas around where they've visited, and they'll see a limited distance beyond that. But the Icewind Dale map is huge, and their section for most of the game will only be a little cleared area in a big black mass. I'd prefer that they had a blurred view of the whole map, without the ability to see the details in each hex. I can imagine an option that turns Explorer Mode into a "blur layer" that picks up the dominant color from a square or hex and uses that as the color, rather than black. I could theoretically do this manually by creating a whole lot of white, gray, green, and blue hexagons, then manually layering them myself. But hoo boy, that would be a lot of work...
