Call to Action Hello brave adventurer! A group of three Heroes (and their DM) seeks a fourth for a long term, homebrew, character focused, campaign that tells the story of heroism, bravery in the face of sheer evil, and the occasional goofs of a bad Stealth roll! Roleplay desired, tactical thinking necessary for survival, and character focused! Will you accept the call to action and dive into the Unknown? DM Style Hi there! I'm Charlie (he/him). I am a dork. A goober. But damnit, do I love drama. Eons ago the call to DM came to me much the way it does for many: a bunch of my friends wanted to play D&D but had no one to DM for them. Many critical fails and successes later and it has become one of my favorite hobbies. My nerd heart first blossomed in video games (with good ol’ Warcraft) so they are usually my go to for inspiration but I pull from all my favorite fiction sources. Books, movies, tv shows, and sometimes real life. As a DM, I find myself to be roleplay and combat focused. I thrive on telling a story around the characters and their backgrounds. But the spotlight is not just for me! I want my players to have that dramatic showdown, comedic relief, or last stand that we've talked about since the beginning of the campaign. And all the moments in between. I love creating unique characters that you'll either return to for help, or loathe and can't wait to defeat in combat or political embarrassment. The perks of being a DM online is that I get to use many the bells and whistles that come with Roll20. API scripts, Dynamic Lighting, background soundtracks. Anything I can do to help steady the flow of the session and create an immersive environment. I'll even cater playlists on Discord to set the mood for whatever setting the party finds themselves in. But Charlie, are you a rules lawyer or one of those cool DMs? A comfortable middle, I'd say. A Neutral Good. I'll always lean towards the favor of my players but nothing game breaking. A when an epic moment presents itself, I want you to have that moment. Campaign and Session Length This is long term campaign so the intention is to get the characters into the high teens (maybe even level 20?!) before concluding the game. Sessions take place on Saturdays at 9pm EST, weekly, and will be 4 hours with a break in the middle. Payment Each session is $5/session via PayPal. Payment should be made at least 24 hours before the game. If you cancel after you have made a payment, I'll simply put it on your tab for a future session. Player Expectations * This is an LGBTQ+ positive game. No murder hobos, bullies, or otherwise rude individuals. To be more specific, we would like to meet you! Myself and the other three players would like to talk with you first before making a long term commitment. * Keep your sheet updated. This includes tracking your own inventory. * Practice good audio etiquette. * Give everyone time to shine. * Don't metagame. * Don't try to play other player's characters for them. Please respect the decisions your party members make on their turns. * Take notes, and ask each other for help when you need it. Ask your fellow party members for help if you've forgotten an important NPC name or location. * Roleplay your character. Talk in character if you're comfortable doing so, or at bare minimum, explain what your character is doing. * Be here, and show up on time. Life happens, and sometimes you'll be late. We're all fallible humans. Please don't make a habit out of being late. If you cannot make a game, give advanced notice so the DM can be prepared and make adjustments as needed. Game Information We'll use Roll20 for maps and Discord for chat, notes, and voice calls during the sessions. Tone Heroic seriousness with time for silly events and jokes. Memes and inside jokes are welcome but we really want someone who is comfortable roleplaying their character and can share the spotlight with others. Setting This a homebrew fantasy campaign, with a starting template of Faerun for the familiarity. However, many things can be adapted for character creation and backgrounds. High fantasy, plenty of magic, plenty more lost secrets. This campaign is going to be character focused. Part of that includes your character's background influencing the way the world works. Character Creation * Characters will start at level 3. Use the point buy system for level 1. * All WotC official content is ok. Homebrew races and classes are a case by case, so please review them with me first. * Character sheets will live on Roll20 and should be made once accepted into the group. * As a group, we want to talk about party make up and relations to each other. We have a channel set up in our discord server meant just for that. Homebrewish Rules * Milestone leveling up * Reroll 1s on max health increases. You may also take the average hit points if you prefer. * Starting equipment + 50gp * Cleaving - When you hit a creature with a melee attack, any excess damage from killing them can be applied to another creature within reach (who has an AC equal to or below the initial attack).
