Weekly Gaming Summary #47 (02/13/2021)

A Thank You For Playing today's Dungeons & Dragons 5 th Edition game of 02/13/2021 - From 10:00 am EDT, until 1:00 pm EDT, and our 56th Gaming Session, goes out to:   Barbarian – Human - Marcuria Violezi - Connor D. Monk – Elf – Farren Nidanas - Bahrrenn Drakke Rogue – High Elf - Roqar -  Roxxifarius War Priest – Human – Juan Denero –  Buddy-D Wizard (Sage/Scribe) – Drow Elf - Daniel M.     Whom Could Not Make It Today!   Bard – Half Elf – Avery - Avery     Everyone was in attendance!   Game Summary for Saturday (02/13/2021):   Opening Scene: Day 20 : June 26th  2:30 pm   Things start during a combat with undead skeletons when it’s Rolo’s turn to make a move: Combat round #01 Continued: Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip at a Skeleton doing 5 fire damage to it! Juan, casts the divine favor spell, giving his weapon an extra 1d4 radiant damage for up to 10 rounds (1 minute). Sildar Hallwinter, stays back from the fight to cover the Dwarf, Gundren Rockseeker and to be a look out for any more attackers approaching. Avery, casts the Heroism spell upon Roqar imbuing her with bravery for up to 1 minute provided Avery can keep concentrating that long, and gaining 4 temporary hit points.   Combat Round #02: Dia, casts the ray of frost cantrip at Skeleton #01 dealing 1 cold damage! Skeleton #07 was able to now move out of the webbing! Skeleton #06 is stuck in the webbing. Skeleton #02, slashed Murcuria with it’s short sword dealing half damage of 3 due to Murcuria’s rage! Farren, tries to run back away from the fight and Skeleton #01 tried to strike him with an opportunity attack but missed! Skeleton #01, slashed Roqar for 6 damage with the short sword! Skeleton #09, is trapped behind the webbing in the north west section of the room. Skeleton #08, is out of the webbing now! Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip and missed a Skeleton! Juan, pounds Skeleton #01 with the Lightbringer mace dealing 8+6 = 15 bludgeoning damage, defeating him! Marcuria, takes out a bag of ball bearings and dumps them upon the floor in a 10 ft area around the doorway! Sildar Hallwinter, still stays back to keep watch. Skeleton #05 stays put. Avery, uses the Vicious Mockery spell upon Skeleton #03 who fails his wisdom save rolling 11 needing ≤ 14 and takes 1 psychic damage and has disadvantage on it’s next attack roll!   Combat Round #03: Dia, casts the Ray of Frost cantrip, dealing 7 cold damage to Skeleton #03, and reducing speed by 10 ft! Skeleton #02 stays on his feet moving full speed through the ball bearing with a dextery save Difficulty Challenge he rolled a 10 and attacks Roqar with the short sword missing her! Farren, slashed Skeleton #02 with the short sword for half damage of 4, defeating it! Skeleton #04, moves through the ball bearings rolling 22 needing ≤ 10, he stays on his feet and attacks Marcuria with the short sword hitting for half damage of 3 due to her rage! Skeletons #01, 03, 08, 09 are either stuck in webbing, trapped behind it or staying put. Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip at a skeleton dealing 4 fire damage! Juan, pounds Skeleton #04, with the Lightbringer mace, dealing 7+8=15 total damage, defeating it! Marcuria,  successfully grapples a Skeleton (#04?), whom could not break free, he is prone so all attacks except ranged, against it has advantage, also 1 damage from unarmed fighting! Sildar Hallwinter, continues to keep watch. Avery, casts the Vicious Mockery spell at Skeleon #03, who takes 1 psychic damage and has disadvantage on his next attack!   Combat Round #04: Dia, casts the Ray of Frost at Skeleton #05, hitting for 2 cold damage and reducing his speed by 10 ft! Farren, slashed Skeleton #03 for half damage of 4 with the short sword, defeating it! Skeletons #08 & 09, are either staying put or trapped behind the webbing! Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip at a Skeleton, dealing 4 fire damage! Juan, makes a dexterity save rolling 16 needing ≤ 10 so stays on his feet moving through ball bearings and scores a hit on Skeleton #05 with the Lightbringer mace, dealing 8+7=15 bludgeoning damage! Marcuria, now tries to grapple Skeleton #05, and is successful! Making it prone dealing 3 unarmed fighting damage! Sildar, continues to keep watch. Avery, casts the healing word spell, healing 6 hit points back to Juan!   Combat Round #05: Dia casts vicious mockery upon Skeleton #05, dealing 2 psychic damage and putting him at a disadvantage for his next turn! As a bonus action Dia casts the Ray of Frost spell at the prone Skeleton #06, dealing 1 cold damage! Farren, slashed Skeleton #05 for half damage of 5 with the short sword, defeating him! End of Combat! What the party sees in the room besides the skeletons and those stuck in the webbing or behind it: Splintered stone benches and heaps of rubble from a partially collapsed ceiling fill this room. Amid ruined stone bunks and toppled weapon racks are the bones of several dwarves and orcs, which were the ones that animated and attacked. It is decided to ignite the webbing with a fire bolt to burn the skeletons stuck in it and 5, 2 and 4 damage was done to them as the webbing burned away and filled the room with smoke. Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins with the remaining undead skeletons: Farren, waits for the Skeletons. Avery, casts the heroism spell upon Marcuria and Juan to imbue them with bravery and gaining 4 temporary hit points. Skeleton #09, moved to about the middle of the room.  Marcuria, goes through the door at half speed because of the ball bearings still on the floor, so no dexterity check is needed. She throws an oil flask at and scores a hit the flask breaking and splashing oil upon the Skeleton! Roqar, moves at half speed into the room.
Dia, casts the Ray of Frost spell at Skeleton #06 dealing 1 cold damage and slowing it’s movement by 10 ft! Juan, moves into the room at half speed of 15 feet. Skeleton #06, slashed Marcuria, whom stepped in front of Roqar as a reaction bonus move, with the short sword for 3 half damage due to her rage! Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip at Skeleton #06, just missing him! Skeleton #07, swing his short sword missing Juan! Skeleton #08, moves closer to attack!   Combat Round #02: Farren, slashed Skeleton #06 for 6 half damage with the short sword, defeating him! Avery, moving at half speed so as to not trip on the ball bearings, casts the healing word spell as a bonus action upon, Marcuria, healing back 7 hit points! She then casts the Vicious Mockery spell upon Skeleton #09, taking 4 pyschic damage and disadvantaged on next turn! Skeleton #09, swings his short sword missing Marcuria! Marcuria, pounds Skeleton #09 with a gauntlet punch, dealing 12 bludgeoning damage, defeating him! Roqar, hits Skeleton #08 with the short sword, but no damage! Dia, casts the ray of frost cantrip at Skeleton #07, dealing 3 cold damage and reducing his movement 10 feet! Juan, pounds Skeleton #07 with the lightbringer mace dealing 6+5= 11 damage, defeating him! Rolo, cast fire bolt at Skeleton #08, dealing 8+6= 15 damage from a critical hit, defeating him! End of Combat!   The adventurers look over the room but all they find are rusty old long and short swords and maces. Marcuria, takes the least rusty ones. Roqar, moves right across the hall to the next door checking for traps with her thieve’s tools she did not find one and opens the door: This chamber was once an office or storeroom of some kind. A large stone counter bisects the room, set with three dusty balance scales made of iron. Cubby holes carved into the north wall are stuffed with dusty paper scraps. Several long-dead corpses—gnomes and orcs by their look—are sprawled across the floor. With no bodies moving Roqar climbs onto the counter, while Marcuria looks for traps and doesn’t find one. Roqar hops down to the other side and sees a strongbox next to the counter.  She finds no trap on the box and tries to unlock it and does so. However, there is more to it now as it also has a puzzle lock.  None of the adventurers could figure out the puzzle lock, and left it alone for now. Roqar believe someone in Neverwinter city can open the 45 pounds strongbox. Juan, prays to bhaal, to cast two cure wounds spells upon Marcuria, healing back 3+9 = 12  hit points. Looking to explore more of the caves in the mine Dia casts the find familiar spell as a ritual, in this case it is a bat. Dia has the bat explore the complex, seeing herself what the bat sees as it flies along, up to 100 feet away. At one point an Ochre Jelly was spotted so Dia warns the party not to go that way. It continues on and finds: A still pool fills much of this cavern. The water is dark, revealing little of what might lie within. The shore of the pool consists of a thin layer of broken shells from strange, pale mussels, and a fishy odor hangs in the air. A passage leads south from this area, and a set of steps climbs up to the east. A sluggish stream flows out of the cave to the northeast. From there it’s up the stairs to the east and into another passage with a door opposite the stairwell they climbed up. They go north right now roughly keep 100 ft away from the flying bat. Some go down another flight of stairs, Marcuria in the lead, stopping at a corner as the bat flies into another cavern area: A wide rift fills the eastern half of this cavern. A stream pours out of the west wall, then tumbles down into the rift and flows out again to the north. Several ropes are secured to iron stakes along on the western edge of the rift, leading down to the chasm floor. Also visible to the bat are 3 bugbears, armed with morning stars and javelins, two of whom are down in the chasm, moving rocks around looking for something, as the third bugbear keeps watch. There is also a Drow elf here, armed with a short sword and hand crossbow, also watching the two in the chasm. Rolo, decides to cast invisibility upon himself and go have a chat with the Drow. Rolo says, “Why are you here?” Vhalak says, “Who’s there?! It is none of your business! I have nothing to say to whomever you are!”. Vhalak says something in bugbear and the bugbears being to shout out what are likely alarms and warnings! Rolo had run back to the party. Marcuria whispers, “That was a mistake, Rolo. Not going to lie… no, let’s just avoid them for now.
